Also, no longer needing to hide their "authentic" selves such as sexual preferences or ones that experienced abuse or having to hide their family's dirty secrets which both sure took a toll on them all. Sadly, Rita was a victim of sexual abuse from her own father that affected her whole life it seems. Many Hollywood legends took to the bottle, dove into multiple bad relationships as well as other mal behaviors to deal and it showed.
Glen Ford was married to Eleanor Powell who was Hollywood's best female dancer. Said to give Fred Astaire a run for his money! She gave up her while career to take care of their two boys! Ford was a womanizer and cheated on the darling Eleanor!! She was so attractive in her movies!
Elizabeth Anderson and Glenn Ford always had the reputation of being a playboy even before they were married so she knew what she was getting w Glenn. Also, it’s not Glenn who forced her to give up her career, that was Eleanor’s decision. I don’t think it’s fair to blame him for that.
