Take a tour with me inside the 1942 Storybook style home of actress Rita Hayworth, one of the rare Los Angeles houses which is virtually untouched by time.
Yes even the mansions now so cold and almost like a hotel, watched a tour of the Housewife woman Heather Dubrov’s giant mansion. Oh it was so like a giant hotel not a home!!! This is beautiful.
I agree 100%. But in reality, the older homes are poorly insulated, & have older wiring and heating/cooling. If your budget allows, you can have a newer custom built home that resembles an older one, but it will have all the modern day features. We owned a home built in the 1930’s, and after a decade decided to sell it, as it was non-stop remoldeling and care. It all depends on if the home was well cared for over the years, and if the materials used to build the home were of good quality.
Wow, very kind of you to have shown us Rita's house, probably the only place she felt secure and happy! So preserved and well maintained too! Rita, was a favorite of Gene Kelly. He said one time that of all the women he danced with Rita was his favorite! So glad her past home is still sitting on it's property and not destroyed with new garbage sitting on top of it!
This was so fun, nostalgic and bittersweet. Rita Hayworth was one of my absolute favorites back in the day and still is. Loved her movies. I wish she had had a longer, happier life.
I agree! But she always said that she didn’t want people to look at her with sadness. She had a lot of happy moments, and she loved her children. Thanks so much for watching!
I agree! So rare! It might be because the neighborhood is also filled with similar storybook-style houses. Whatever the reason, I’m glad! Thanks so much for watching!
I love it when houses are left as they are, in their original form and beauty. We recently bought 1928 Craftsman bungalow. We're only the third owners of this house and the previous two families clearly loved it just the way it was. Very little has been changed, and that's perfect for us!
Oh you are so lucky to have a Craftsman bungalow and especially one from the 1920s! I bet it’s gorgeous in all of its originality. I’m so glad you’re going to keep it intact as the other families did. Thanks so much for watching the video!
@@CRF-ds7ie The only significant change we're making is to add a deck off the back, and a balcony off the back of the attic: there's a mountain view from back there! We'll redo the bathroom a bit, because I'm disabled, and we'll find a way to make the modern appliances fit better in the kitchen (while keeping the original cabinets). All the changes will be in harmony with the original look, and some, like tiling, will bring it back even more to its original look.
@@CRF-ds7ie And we've filled the house with antique furniture to match it. We've painted the interior colours that were popular in the 1920s and 30s. It's a bit of a time warp in here.
Rita Hayworth was so lovely! She gave great pleasure to so many people. Her home shows what she appreciated in life and lives on for us to enjoy also along with memories of her films. Thank you Rita and Bless You!
Back in the mid ‘70s my mother told me that I reminded her of Rita Hayworth. With my side parted full head of hair. I watched Gilda and I was so flattered by my mothers compliment . Victor Mature was definitely a handsome sexy man. 10 years after my mothers lovely complement I met a wonderful Sicilian, Italian man named Sam De Maria. My mother said that he looked like Victor Mature. Sam became the love of my life! I miss him so much. Rest in peace my Roman Gladiator.
I’m so sorry for your loss, but it sounds like you had a wonderful relationship and I’m sure you have beautiful memories. That’s so cool that you looked like Rita Hayworth and he looked like Victor Mature!! ❤️
She indeed was a beautiful looking lady..and good dancer..Hollywood wood lifestyles are very challenging..glad she had some happiness...and someone who actually loved her...she had a nest..
Greetings from the UK. I really enjoyed your video. It was Great to see It looked like the property had been frozen in time since 1942. I was glad that you had yourself in the photos exactly where Rita Hayworth was it made the video so much better. Thank you for such a wonderful video.
Beautiful! We had the same knotty pine part way up on our walls when my parents built their home in 1951 in Massachusetts! I had no idea that started before the 50’s! Thank you! I loved seeing her dance with Fred Astaire!
What a wonderful tour! I love the house and the comparison photos showing how little it has changed since RW lived in it. Thank you for sharing this! (Btw, your name is lovely. No need to qualify it! 😊)
Absolutely love this house ! The woodwork , the courtyard, everything !!! My aunt worked in NYC in the 40's and she won a Rita Hayworth look alike contest. They could have been sisters, they looked so much alike.
That’s incredible! I wish I could see a picture of your aunt. She must’ve been gorgeous! I also love everything about the house. Thanks so much for watching!
My cousin just found some old pictures of when she was young. She worked for Dean Martin's / Jerry Lewis press agent. She talked to Dean and Jerry all the time on the phone. I have some advertising pens, etc, from the office she worked at. She had a very interesting career. I'll let you know if I make a video so you can see what she looked like !
Hello, Wow, what an amazing privilege to take selfies in the house Rita Hayward once lived and in the same places and poses as she was photographed. It's too exciting! Many thanks for taking us with you on your fascinating tour where Rita Hayward resided; it's absolutely charming and awesome that it remains largely the same as when she lived there . Your book looks amazing. I wonder who the lucky owners are now; it must be amazing to be in possession of her house and furniture and to walk in Rita Haywards footsteps and sleep in her bedroom and not least the pretty garden as well. Xxxx ❤
Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed watching! Big Hayworth fan and I have your book, too. (I agree Rita always looks happier in photos with Victor Mature. Ah, what might have been…)

What a thoughtful video. Thank you so much for sharing the memories. I know very little about Rita Hayworth but my mum loved her. Am off to get your book now 😂❤
Wow this home looks kind of like my villa here in Italy a little with the wood and doorway. What a beautiful woman. I think she was way before my time (I’m 25) but she’s timeless 😍
So beautiful ,I love that they kept the original integrity of the home ,even the original tiles and grout !And I’m with you totally on the favorite area being the vanity !I can see her with a beautiful drink putting her makeup on for an event !I loved that your book was in the house I think that’s really cool, and such a fantastic story to be able to share:)!
This is a lovely,l oving tribute-very uplifting to beautiful Rita Hayworth. You are a beautiful lady too- very radiant in your photos-so nice to see such a tribute- back in the days when Hollywood had class! Loved the house and your comments!
What a wonderful job you have done to showcase this outstanding home!! Just thrilled that it has remained mostly unchanged. One of the most beautiful ladies in Hollywood Hope who ever buys it will keep it as it was when Miss Rita Hayworth lived there. Any more homes to showcase ??😊😊😘
Thank you so much for your kind words! And yes, I agree with you, and hope that no one changes the Rita Hayworth house. Yes, I have a few more homes up my sleeve! Thanks so much for supporting my channel!
I love these old homes. I hate seeing them being leveled for the property values so someone can build yet another mega mansion. Tasteful does not mean 50 rooms of boring beige with so much marble and iron you would think you're in a mausoleum. Always aseptic, dull as dishwater, and absolutely no character! This is such a beautiful house and not over the top. Great video! Cheers ✌
Thank you. Beautiful house and fantastic that it remains so original. It would of have been fun for your pictures to have been in B&W just like Rita's lol. But really enjoyed the tour.
It is just wonderful that this house has been kept up and looks the way it did when Rita lived there. Hers is a truly tragic story and has always make me feel so sad for her. Thank you for this look at her amazing house!
i got into watching the old classic movies as a preteen with my parents. i remember reading in a very old biography i found in a vintage shop that rita hayworth confided to close friends that she was molested by her father as a child. & that behind that beautiful smile of hers was always a sadness. love the tour. i will look for ur book too!
We don’t really know if that’s true or not but if it is, it is indeed tragic. Thank you so much for watching the video and I hope you find my book - it’s often available for a good price on eBay!
That's a great historic house. Too bad so many of them are being torn down. Rita Hayworth was the only single woman who was allowed to be a member of Riviera Country Club. When she developed Alzheimer's people at the club thought ( wrongly) she was drunk .
That was a very sad time for her when people thought she was drinking when she actually had the first signs of Alzheimer’s. She was an excellent golfer! Thank you so much for watching!
Well this is just fun! My mother was a big Rita Hayworth fan. My favorite photo and a most prized possession is a photo of Mom at 16 with her Rita Hayworth hair style and eyebrows.
I really enjoyed seeing the home of entertainer, Rita Hayworth. Love how well preserved and comforting her home was. The photos that you showed us of Rita Hayworth in the various parts of her home were very endearing. I never knew that she had dated entertainer, Victor Mature. Take care 🏡
Wow! So interesting! That house looked just the same as when Rita was there! Rita is my favourite actress since my daughter bought your book that you showed in the video. Love that you’ve got the music where she danced with Fred Astaire.
Hello Caren...recently found your vlogs...very well done and I love standing/sitting where famous shots in the past happened....yours on this vlog are so many and so well done.....80 years ago!!!
Wonderful video, and it was great to see your beautiful dog looking out of the window, how cute was that, just subscribed and i will look out for your book ,ps please include more of viv !!!!!🤗🇬🇧
Awww, thank you for loving my little Viv!! She is my little travel companion and is the sweetest dog ever! You can find my book for a pretty good price on eBay usually. 😊 Thanks again so much for watching and subscribing!
Thank goodness you took these photographs, because -- and please correct me should I be wrong -- in the weeks since, I am afraid this wonderful house has been, by some neanderthal, utterly demolished.
What a beautiful timeless home!! Just stunning!! Love the style. My mom adored her. She was truly beautiful!! Thank you for showing.. I'm glad the house was kept in tact and taken care of.
Thank you so much enjoyed the tour of Rita's home, The house is so pretty hard, to believe after all this time no one has made any changes to the house which has a lot of great character and charm I ready to move in Loved the match photos of you and Rita in the same rooms in near same posse those are fun. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
gorgeous! loved the information too. She looked so gorgeous in all the photos! Made mw want a makeover lol massive respect to the owners over the years for maintaining the house, I would have done the same, So cool!
These older home styles have so much more character and charm than new builds.
Absolutely - I couldn’t agree more! Thanks so much for watching!
I agree with you 100%. I'm so tired of seeing the same fake wood floors and granite counter tops I could scream!
Me, too! Thanks so much for watching!
Yes even the mansions now so cold and almost like a hotel, watched a tour of the Housewife woman Heather Dubrov’s giant mansion. Oh it was so like a giant hotel not a home!!! This is beautiful.
Yes, no character at all!
I'm amazed that this house was so preserved...so many of the great homes of stars were destroyed or totally made over.
I know! It’s a real rarity! Thanks so much for watching!
Finally someone appreciates older styled house....BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!

That is wonderful that the house is still there and also untouched from that period. You did a great job with this video. Thank you
Thank you so much for your kind words! I appreciate you watching it!
That house is so stunning and full of charm and character.
I agree! Thank you so much for watching!
thank you for this.... what a beautiful home, and Rita was such a beautiful woman!!!💖❤🔥
Indeed, she was! Arguably the most beautiful! Thanks so much for watching!
@@CRF-ds7ieBTW i've had your wonderful book on Rita for many years, thank you for doing such a loving tribute to her!! 👏👏👏
Oh, that makes me so happy! It was a labor of love. Thank you so much for liking my book and my video!
Wonderful how you kept the house the way Rita had it, very neat😂😂
Thank you, Paul! It’s not my house, but they did a great job of keeping it the way it used to be! Thank you for watching!
@@CRF-ds7ie oh, I thought it's yours, you're a natural hostess 😀
Thank you!
Proving once again that great architecture and tasteful design never go of of style.
Absolutely! Thanks so much for watching!
Hello Teresa how are you doing today
Awww, I bet she looked beautiful! Thanks so much for watching!
I really enjoyed seeing the home of entertainer, Rita Hayworth. Love how well preserved and comforting her home was. The photos that you showed us of Rita Hayworth in the various parts of her home were very endearing. I never knew that she had dated entertainer, Victor Mature. Take care 🏡
I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! Thank you so much for watching!

Wow! So interesting! That house looked just the same as when Rita was there! Rita is my favourite actress since my daughter bought your book that you showed in the video. Love that you’ve got the music where she danced with Fred Astaire.
I’m so glad that you liked my book! And thank you so much for watching!!
@@CRF-ds7ie 🤗
Fred Astaire gave out money instead of candy on Halloween. I guess he thought there was lots of poverty in Benedict Canyon.
@@chrislastnam6822 Ah. He sounds lovely!
If I could’ve just met him in person, I would’ve happily bypassed the money!
I'm so jealous of you to have visited Rita's home, the greatest movie star there will ever be 👍
I got pretty lucky! Thanks so much for watching!
That was a lovely visit! Thank you!
Thank you so much for watching!

It sold for just shy of $4 million! Thanks for watching!

Thrilling! So happy so much of Rita’s home remains the same and you were able to experience it and share this joy with us! #RitaHayworthForever
Thank you so much again for watching!
Thank goodness you took these photographs, because -- and please correct me should I be wrong -- in the weeks since, I am afraid this wonderful house has been, by some neanderthal, utterly demolished.
One of my favorite actresses ❤ thank u for sharing ❤
Thank you so much for watching!
What a beautiful timeless home!! Just stunning!! Love the style. My mom adored her. She was truly beautiful!! Thank you for showing.. I'm glad the house was kept in tact and taken care of.
