    Update: It's the transmitter that cant be powered up without an antenna connected (the one on the quad). It doesn't harm anything on the receiver side or the goggles.

    The Tinyhawk 2 does allow you to turn up the video tx from 25 - 200 which would improve the video quality without further spending on antennae.

    Love that you love fpv drones and that you are bringing it to a wider audience. And yes get to acro asap I remember when I first started and the first days of acro can be challenging but that's what make it fun always new trick or style you can learn... You'll be flying with us in no time! Oh and on your rates it's something that you have to figure out on your own, once you've been flying a bit you shouldn't be fighting the sticks, if you push the sticks for what you think should be a full roll... Then that's what should happen, if you are finding yourself rather under or over rotating then adjust you max dps (degrees per second)accordingly... If it feels too sensitive in the center of the sticks then add more expo.
    Ps been watching your channel for a bit and though I'm only into quads at the .moment you've got me wanting to branch out... Keep up the great content!

    Nice flying! That's a great kit to get started with. One more thing you can do with it is to get a simulator like Lift Off on your computer. You can use that transmitter to learn acro flying with no risk of breaking anything or walks to retrieve your quad. Welcome to fpv!

    I’m actually waiting for my kit to be delivered today. I purchased the Holy Stone HS270 and was disappointed because I couldn’t fly it like I imagined, but I have started using it for photography so it’s still a win. I can’t wait to fly this lil buzz saw like a Star Wars cruiser or a hawk chasing it’s pray. The vids are awesome thanks

    Just ditch angle... go straight for acro.. it really will fly better that way. And it's actually easier to fly.... the longer you fly in angle, the harder it is to switch. Acro mode makes a lot more sense once you start. Basically, the pitch/roll sticks correspond to how fast you want to move in that direction, and not how much of an angle you want. So basically if you pitch forward, and go back to center stick, the quad will maintain that angle, until you pull back to adjust the angle.

    • @RCGirl
      @RCGirl  Před 5 lety +2

      Ahh interesting. that's the best description I've gotten of how that mode works. Thanks!

    • @StacemanFPV
      @StacemanFPV Před 5 lety +1

      @@RCGirl in acro, it's a lot like flying a plane. Basically it doesn't re-level itself. What you'll find is that when flying in acro, you'll be at center stick or close to center stick much of the time. In LOS it's a good bit harder, but with fpv, flying acro makes way more sense. This is coming from someone who flew the self level modes for well over a couple of years before switching. It took a good bit of unlearning, but I'd never go back. None of my quads have that mode any more.

    • @Jronesfpv
      @Jronesfpv Před 5 lety +2

      angle mode is good for indoors. but big areas acro is more fun.

    • @walkershot92
      @walkershot92 Před 5 lety +2

      Actually when racing with a "whoop" style drone its easier and better to use horizon or angle modes. Acro is great for having fun. Once you go 5" though...only use acro mode.

  • @fpvpilot7713
    @fpvpilot7713 Před 4 lety

    I have a similar little quad and they are fun because they dont break easily. I found that the video works best when I am far away from noise such as wifi, etc. My range was double at our flying field compared to a nearby school yard. I finally changed me video tx to a 100 mw and now it works really well.

    That's great that the kit includes spare props. The standalone drone doesn't so I nearly was unable to review mine when I lost a prop in my backyard. Thankfully my wife found it. You are a fast learner. Is this your first drone because you are a great flyer! Fpv it actually easier in many respects because as you said in this video you don't have to worry about your orientation and reversed controls. One thing to be mindful of is those spare Makerfire are standard 4.20v and the Tinyhawk charger says 4.35v on the back and there's no voltage switch so unless it has an internal sensor then I suspect it'll ruin those extra lipos. I wish I could get mine outdoors and do some flying but it is too cold here :(

    • @RDsRCReviews
      @RDsRCReviews Před 5 lety

    The goggles run diversity ie they choose the best signal between the 2 antenna. A patch antenna has higher gain but is directional (cone shaped area) so point it in the direction you are predominantly flying. The mushroom reception is donut shaped with less range than the patch but in all directions but directly on axis with antenna and normally set upright, and high.

    • @RCGirl
      @RCGirl  Před 5 lety

      Thanks for the info!

    • @mrzon9344
      @mrzon9344 Před 5 lety

      Pleasure.. Another consideration is that antenna come in 3 varients - Linear , Right Hand Circular Polarized (RHCP) and Left Hand Circular polarized (LHCP). The tiny Hawk will have linear (dipol) so idealy you willl need linear antenna for the goggles. the polarized setup helps with reflected signals (flying near walls etc) They do work with linear but with a loss (lower gain) I believe. The last thing you'll need to check before you buy is the connector on the goggles either RP-SMA or SMA (you can get adapters).

  • @MrGone2k

    Better to stay with stock dipole antennas if you are keeping the tinyhawk's dipole antenna. You'll get signal loss going with a circular polarized omni. Or go nuts and upgrade both ;)

    Since those battereies are so cheap to get long flight times get HV batteries that you can charge to 4.35 and run them down to 2.9 or 3.0v. It reduces the length of the battery but the batteries are really not that long lasting to begin with. I think a 6 pack of 260mAh HV batteries is like $20. Good review.

    I love watching your videos you remind me of one of my daughters. Keep working on em and looking forward to more in the future. Oh and one hint that can only help. I've been a licensed ham radio operator for decades now and here's the facts about antennas. The ones on your goggles should match the one on the drone. In the case of the tinyhawk it's a linear antenna and the ones on you goggles are already best. The "mushroom" antennas are circular and are only effective if the one on the drone is also. I have yet to see a tiny whoop class drone with anything other then linear antennas. The same is true for the transmitting antenna on the remote. Too much misinformation and vodoo concerning antennas in this hobby.

    FPV Girl! I didn't doubt for a second that you would love this. Antennas are a great first mod. Don't forget about the one on the drone too. If you're comfortable taking it apart a bit, there will be a crummy little dipole inside, probably(hopefully) with a ufl connector. Also fyi, the antennas you NEED to make sure are installed when you power on are the transmitting ones, so the one on the drone transmitting video, and the one on the controller transmitting the controls. Have a blast with that little bugger!

    Mine just came in this week! Played in my garage for the 4 minutes so I didn’t get off the ground much. I gotta get more batteries too. What’s your suggestion for battery upgrade?

    Does the quality of the VR look clear through the drone camera?

    Late to the game, but do the props turn on instantly when you arm the drone? Mine do and I'm not sure if that's correct.

    Do you think it is good for beginners and ppl with little experience? Is the controller good? It's look likes a toy controller.
