    Going back to your flight footage on the previous video I saw that during 100% punch out the current reached over 13A, would you consider trying this test with a 10-12 A load? I think that maybe 5A isn't quite enough to be representative of max amp load for the trashcan. I'd be very curious to see if a bigger difference could be seen between ph2.0 and xt30.

    hey Gal! I'm interested to know if I could adapt a 1s battery with ph2.0 connector into an xt30, kind of like you had your test leads, just in case I want to fly these smaller quads indoors at 1s for competitive reasons (there are some local clubs that run 1s events) I may gain 1.85g but I don't feel like that's too much more of a load on a single 1s battery? What are your thoughts? I've already seen another channel run some other 2s whoops with the xt30 and have kind of decided that its probably the way I would want to go.

    • @KremerFPV
      @KremerFPV  Před 5 lety +1

    Gal, nice video. I am thinking of getting a toothpick class 2-3s drone with an XT30 connector. However I have a large number of 1s whoop batteries with PH2.0 connector. Do you foresee any issues if I make an adapter with an XT30 male plug to (3) PH2.0 female plugs wired in series? I am ok with some efficiency loss if I don't have to buy new batteries :)

      I'm a complete novice here so read this comment with some skepticism. I would also have no problems with creating an adapter to go from a PH2.0 to an XT30. But I think you'll be less happy with the results. I'm sure it would likely take a Long time to change over your batteries but you could try changing over a couple to XT30 connectors to see how it goes.

    Great video! Just what's needed right now. Something to note reading the comments... TWO (not one) PH 2.0 connectors have more resistance than just ONE JST which is interesting as JST lists the common 2.5mm JST RCY connector used here as a 3A max connector too. So the JST should have been used in place of the PH 2.0 IMO but it's still not rated high enough. Also JST connectors come in different quality grades not listed on JST's website that increase the amp rating (over double I believe) but to my knowledge only the cheap version are used commercially so the new BETA FPV BT 2.0 connector seems the best way to go right now. My experience shows the cheap version JST connector gets warm enough to be hard to separate on a U807 using a Nano-Tech 750mah 35C 1S (lower amp draw) so at 0.58 grams (both male and female) I'll be ordering some BT 2.0's for all my 1S high C rated batteries and hope a standard micro connector for 2S high C batteries emerges as that's what is needed now as well as longer flight times on small builds.

    • @KremerFPV
      @KremerFPV  Před 5 lety

      I think that a better way would be to make an adapter of XT30 to PH2.0 and then use it when you want to use a 1S battery. The pads are pretty small and I don't advice to use two connectors at once.

    This video seems to confirm what some other testing has shown; the XT30 makes a lower resistance connection than either the PH 2.0 or the JST. Since getting a UK65 I noticed that the PH2.0 connection got quite hot (easily visible with a thermal imager), it turns out the PH2.0 plug on the craft has pins made from flat metal folded over length ways into a U shape.
    I replaced the UK65's lead, using one I made with a board mounting PH2.0 connector because it has solid metal pins. Now the connection doesn't get hot like it used to.

    Great comparison and great video. I only have 1S micros running so far and there it is not worth the effort. I am not sure, if I would do it with 2S whoops, because the difference is marginal and you have to mod every battery you buy. So not what I want to do, just for only 3% extra power. I am pretty sure, nobody wíll notice the difference while flying, if he does not know, which setup he flies. Would be a nice topic for a video, to make such a test. Just use 2 trashcans. One stock and one modded and do not show the pilot which one he is flying. Make several runs and let the pilot guess which one he is flying in every run. Somtimes just change battery and sometimes swap the quad. Let a dice decide, just to be sure to have some randomness.

    • @JohnFHendry
      @JohnFHendry Před 4 lety

      I have the original TH1 on 1S and have had several problems including proper charging that traced back to the PH 2.0 connectors being worn out which is a real issue with the PH 2.0 as it is NOT a battery connector and was designed for 2A max 30 AWG low amperage circuit board connections so with repeated insertions it's not designed for it soon loses its tight fit and ability to carry sufficient current. I was shocked at how much more power and flight time I picked up just from replacing the PH 2.0 on the TH (not the battery's connector warn out as well) which people say maxes out at 4.5A but was designed for 2A and loses current capacity fast.
      On a small 1S whoop I would use BETA FPV's new BT2.0 9A (15A burst) 0.58 gram 1mm bullet connector and hope it becomes the standard for high C rated 1S batteries unless someone comes out with a better connector which gets old as we only need one standard connector for battery manufactures to use. The XT30 on 2S works but the balance lead adds too much weight so it should replace the main power lead so a new connector for 2S batteries is needed with it's own connection cable to work on all chargers
      Hard to believe a common important part needed for a micro quad is holding back so many quads performance! BETA FPV's BT2.0 can support 9A continuous current and 15A burst so for now 2 BT2.0s on two 1S 300 GMBs seems to be the best battery setup for 2S micro builds like the Tinyhawk but there is added weight using a duel battery setup so hopefully Emax reads these comments and responds with a new battery/connector setup for single 2S batteries. But I hear you about soldering on new connectors when the battery manufacture could have done it for little added expense... but they must use whatever connector people use so the hobby is back to developing another standard connector people chose developed for high powered micro quads.
      And BTW God is a layman's concept for Mass/Life invented before atomic research took over to explain reality connected to consciousness. Last summer Northwestern University researchers "upended the current, accepted notion of matter" opening up material designs based on Life's building blocks, wave forms we call atoms that create DNA molecules and give us a center of gravity connected to sensory perception and real physics beyond sensory illusions in effect. Nanoparticles engineered with DNA in colloidal crystals when 3/4 the size of DNA behave like electrons because it takes 4 oscillation phases (up electron/down hole-graviton/stop to start out and then reverse direction at each end) to complete an oscillation in space connected to time. Anything that oscillates in space does so connected to time so must have 4 oscillation phases showing physics failing to accept a basic and proven concept of Einstein's relativity.
      When Monica Olvera de la Cruz used a nano particle smaller than the DNA it ran out of space to hitch a ride and complete the oscillation exposing the 2nd phase of the electron which inadvertently exposed the 4th oscillation phase of the atom needed to keep space connected to time. Life has a physical foundation connected to Mass oscillation that particle physics has been tripping over due to the asymmetry of the weak force needed to understand the fine structure constant as well as gravity as a force connected to the geometry of spacetime: (e{a})/t=E.

    In your opinion, is it worth upgrading to JST instead of XT30 on a 1s 600mah toothpick build? I mean JST is lighter, and it doesn’t require soldering, which might degrade the battery due to the heat when soldering , and I have tons of JST connecter laying around 🤣

      What you will feel when flying is neither Volts nor Amps but Watts that go through the motors, which is voltage times current so the two increases multiply. In the first test that would be 9% more which is certainly noticable. And from reports of people modding their Mobula7 to XT30 the improvement seems to be substential concerning battery sag, maximum power and flight times.

I've experienced a drastic increase in power and flight time just from replacing the male side PH 2.0 on a Tinyhawk without even using new female PH 2.0 connectors on the battery side which shows me the PH 2.0 should be put in the garbage bin as all my PH 2.0 battery connectors are warn too (but batteries still good) and the PH 2.0 just doesn't last used as a battery connector. High electrical resistance is hard on lipo batteries and saw this problem with the original Blade Nano QX using 6mm brushed motors where after 8 or 9 charges the PH 1.2 mm connector used was already loose and LVC time was reduced making the battery appear bad until you check the voltage to see how early amperage drops due to a weak battery connection.
      Ordering some of the 0.58g BETA FPV BT 2.0 1mm bullet connectors to try out but sure don't appreciate having to solder on battery connectors so hopefully GMB and other battery manufactures start using the BT 2.0 in place of the garbage PH 2.0 causing more issues than people realize.

    Solid pins or folded?

      Actually a very good question, no one has asked this yet!

      Charles Warwick do you have solid pins and folded? This would be a great video.

      @@YeaItsSlo I haven't got mine yet. Still waiting... The last eachine product I got, US65, had folded pins.

      Charles Warwick even betafpv ships with folded pins so I’m willing to bet these were folded as well.

      Folded. Thanks for asking it :-)

    JST wires are longer than XT30 in your test. Such compare was unfair.

    It really is a matter of scale. Bigger and more powerfull motors need more power.

    am I missing something, or you really testes different connectors with different batteries? You just measure the difference between particular batteries, no connecters. The lost of current resistance of the connector is negligible. Why nobody commented such an obvious fact?

      Different connectors - same batteries.

      @@KremerFPV but on 0:42 you clearly have all 3 configuration solded already. What do I miss?
