Hello CZcams, it's been a while!
I’m back in Italy for a few months to spend some much needed time with my family and so here’s some Italian content 🤌🏻
I went to visit my Nonna Rosa in Calabria (Southern Italy) for a couple of weeks in September and I thought it would be fun to film a very realistic “what I eat in a week” video while i was there 😋
I used my phone to film this whole thing so sorry if the quality isn’t the best :')
anyways, hope you enjoy and thanks to my nonna for cooking the best food 🥰
    byee 💗
    [about me]
Hi my name is Rosie, I'm 26 and my life is a bit confusing so i'm writing this lol.
    To make it easy:
    - I was born in Northern Italy, in the region of Veneto
    - My whole family still lives there (mom, dad and my little sister Marty)
    - I moved to Toronto, Canada, at 19 all alone to ✨find myself✨ (spoiler: it didn't work, i got more lost if anything)
So, I live half my life in Italy and half my life in Canada.
Also, my mom is from Moldova (country in Eastern Europe) and my dad is from Calabria (region in Southern Italy) and both my grandmas still live there. So you’ll occasionally see me going there as well.
I hope this clears things up a bit.. or maybe makes them more confusing lol.
    I don’t know, i tried 😄

Hi guys thank you so much for all the love on this video 💗 I got a few comments in regards to the plastic plates/cups we used so I thought I'd write a general comment to explain 😊 When my family and I get together to visit my grandma (which only happens a few weeks in the summer) she uses plastic plates for cleaning up quicker and because she only has a few ceramic plates since she lives alone. My nonna is amazing but unfortunately a bit uneducated on the current environmental crisis so when I try bringing up the plastic usage I get dismissed quickly. I totally agree that there is no excuse to use so much plastic in current times and I am very aware of my environmental impact when I live by myself. But when I'm visiting other people's homes (like my nonna's) I tend to adapt to their way of doing things because I don't feel like I have a say since it's not my home. However I know I can do better than that, so next time I will visit my nonna I will buy her more ceramic plates and I'll take care of the washing ☺️

This reminds me of my grandma. My whole family is Dutch, so she’d make Dutch food all the time for my brother and I. Chicken noodle soup, stew and potatoes on cold winter days, Dutch pancakes with fruit and ice cream on summer days. It wasn’t anything like a professional chef, but it tasted so good just because Oma made it. My grandpa (Opa) and I loved to eat together! We’d always get Chinese take-out on his birthday. Oma would always buy a specific kind of soda and have it in stock for when I came over, no one else drank or even liked the soda, she had cans upon cans in the pantry just for me. She had strawberry flavored tea and my Oma, mom and I would always drink a cup together (3 generations of tea lovers). Gosh, I truly miss her a lot. Please enjoy your time with family very much, I would give anything to have my Oma and Opa back again.
And whenever my brother and I slept over, she’d have cookies, hot chocolate and a blanket ready. We’d talk for hours because we didn’t want to go to sleep yet. Some of my fondest memories are at their old house💜

There is something nostalgic in seeing a grandmother cook, even if it is different food than what you had growing up. My grandma is still alive at 84. I have never once been to a meal where she cooked pasta or used tomato sauce 🤣😂. A typical traditional meal my grandma would make could be fried rabbit, fried squirrel, fried quail or fried fish. She would fry that in lard in a cast iron skillet that it probably at least 100 years old. For sides we may have homemade mashed potatoes and gravy, creamed carrots or creamed asparagus. Hot rolls or bread of some kind with butter. Finally usually a variety of fresh garden vegetables (usually tomatoes, green onions and definitely radishes).
