You know why most people hate him. And as a huge football fan I have the right to say this. Unfortunately the vast majority of football fans aren’t very bright. They can’t see a good deal if it smacked them in the face. Hence why they don’t run businesses themselves.
Say what you want about Simon Jordan but he had the balls to do what most wouldn’t. Best thing on Talk Sport as well, stands by his words and opinions and speaks a lot of sense.
Was a fantastic owner for us and did a lot for our club. The administration was a negative but everything he did for our club was in the best interests. We might of gone into administration whilst he was owner but no one can slate what he did for our club. Other than the finacial rubbish he got into he was outstanding for every inch of palace. Would love to see him back on our board again in some form
Top man and Palace a great underrated club with brilliant fans. I think in hindsight Jordan wouldnt have bought the club or any club, but his Dad played for them and he was a youth player so hes 100 legit.
What annoys me is that Palace fans slate him but without him they probably wouldn't own their ground now and would have probably gone the same way as Wimbledon did. Noades pushed them out to MK, in fact it was Simon Jordan who was happy to keep Wimbledon as tenants at Selhurst Park which could have saved them. Noades would have done the same to Palace eventually and sold the ground to developers. It's clear he didn't care about either club. Was about money for him. Yes Jordan took Palace into administration but look at how much money he pumped into the club. When it was saved again the ground was part of the package and that was thanks to Simon Jordan. Yet no disputing Steve Parish has taken them to new levels.
Absolute rubbish , you have literally written fantasy there. When Parish bought the club ,the club and the ground were in seperate administrations , in fact they were in 3 administrations. I suggest you watch the the first part of When Eagles Dare which explains the complexities. Wish you well.
@@luckyducky7166 that documentary doesn’t tell you the underhand tactics of Parish. Actually research what the snake did getting palace into administration in the first place over a £4 million debt.
@@luckyducky7166 SJ took a 4 million loan out with a private equity firm to help with the running costs of palace, SJ had already pumped in £40 million of his own money at this point and was the biggest debtor for palace. The banking crisis hit and the private equity firm demanded their money back because SJ was about a day late with the payment. SJ couldn’t afford the money and SP approached him to invest in palace, then SP got wind that this loan firm was campaigning to put palace into administration over the unpaid debt so instead of SP paying a fair price for a fair equity share he waited till palace was put into administration and got the whole business for a fraction of what it was worth in the process leaving SJ with nothing.
@George Arthern where is your source for all this information as when I search I can't find it. If its true then SP found out that SJ and Crystal Palace had cash flow problems. Maybe he walked away from investing in Palace , maybe he did not like SJ style of running CP. Could be a thousand reasons rather than he wanted to screw SJ. If SJ did not like the way a compony was run he would have walked away too. Its called business. You can't look at one person's decision ,SP, and in hindsight say he screwed him. SP has every right to make business decisions based on information you and I have no knowledge of. You don't blame someone for not investing in a business. SP would have no idea what the outcome would be. Even if he did , would SJ with all his arrogance not have done the same.
Simon Jordan, the type of guy who looks at his reflection in the mirror when he's about to climax whilst speaking to himself and telling himself how incredible he is.
Except he didn't buy it "Palace chairman Jordan stated that he had completed a purchase of the freehold of Selhurst Park from Altonwood Limited (Ron Noades' company) for £12m in October 2006. However, Simon Jordan never owned the freehold or had any interest in it and his reasons for claiming he had bought it are unknown. Ownership was in fact held by Selhurst Park Limited, a joint venture between HBOS and the Rock property empire owned by Paul Kemsley, a former director of Tottenham Hotspur. In April 2008, a 25-year lease was granted to Crystal Palace at an annual rent of £1.2m."
