    i really don’t care if the school is notifying the mum about her child being bullied. what’re they DOING about it?? i understand you can’t control anyone else’s child(ren), but there need to be repercussions for bullying within the school itself. it needs to stop.

      I think the problem is what happens at home for those kids. The school could give them detention or whatever, but then if they go home and the parent doesn't talk to them about it and says "my little darling would never do that" or makes some excuse then the kid won't learn. Many parents don't want to believe their child is a bully.

      Honestly as a parent she should knock on the door of these kids parents and have that conversation with them I mean as MRS Jubjubbird pointed out with some parents they may not do anything but some parents might actually do some because a lot of schools won’t do a thing for bullying at all they let it slip by and I know personally when my brother was being bullied my mother went to the kids houses and their parents were horrified by what their kids had done

    People in this comment section who say she'll be a swan soon , saying without saying she's an ugly duckling now and it getting likes. Disgusting. You're the real problem. Kids are sponges which normally means bullies learn from adults who are around them.
    Saying things like "you'll learn to do makeup soon" "get contacts eventually" "hit a growth spurt" are just how you pretend you are better than a bully! I won't sit by and allow this beautiful baby girl who may read this comment section (regardless of her age now) think she'll be perfect if things change when she is perfect as is.

    30:15 it’s absolutely crazy to me how a parent wouldn’t want to read to their child. I work at a summer camp and we have a library, it was a rainy day so my group and then a group of younger kids were in the library. This little girl who is may be five or six had me read her like 20 books. After a while I do admit I got tired, but I kept going bc she loved it and she was even trying to read a little bit herself. She is an unpleasant, brutish, unintelligent, actually quite nasty little child. She of course doesn’t deserve to be bullied but is it any surprise she is having trouble making friends? Would you want to be her friend?
      As for her weight... Would it be a problem if she was smoking 3 packs of cigarettes a day? Because you know being that overweight is quite literally as dangerous as smoking that much a day. You can make as many excuses as you want but she and her mother are going to die 30+ years before their time because of their weight. Is it okay to say she needs to lose weight because her weight is going to kill her? Forget about the bullying. Although losing weight would certainly help her. I think her personality is a bigger issue there.

    For me, Jo Frost is an exemplification of gracefully and conscientiously walking the line between compassion and being an authority figure. I’ve always been a huge fan of the respect that she gives to the parents she helps and their struggles, while not invalidating the feelings and experiences of the children she helps. She’s willing to tell someone that they’re not doing right by their children as much as she’s willing to tell a child that they need to change the ways in which they’re acting.

    The boy at the start. I heard of eating disorders that limit the types of foods you will eat. The biggest unknown one is called ARFID. Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder. More people suffer with this than people think, but it's always blamed as being "Picky Eaters" when, in fact, it's due to anxiety from the texture of other foods that make it not seem like anything but inedible.

      I thought the same thing. My boyfriend has been suffering from it, for ages he would not eat anything else than pasta, bread, cheese and tomato sauce. Growing up, he understood his body needed more variety and above all more vegetables (absolutely horrific for him), so he took the resolution to try and eat new things, even if it is just a little bit. That is very brave, I think. The textures of the food are big deal when faced with this kind of problem (soups, mash and juices function well with him). He also realised he did not chew his food the way one is supposed to with all teeth involved, and it's only been making things worse. Now he sees an improvement and feels more confident. He even enjoys new meals !
      I wish every person in this situation gets to open up to new food, at their rhythm, if they want to, and to meet understanding people who won't judge them but give them support through their path. Sometimes there is real pain and shame underneath someone we could too easily label a "picky eater".

  • @veggiesaremurder
    @veggiesaremurder Před 2 lety +73

    I work with children on the autism spectrum, and most people don't know that this is a two-system disorder: the neurological, AND the digestive system. Many children, diagnosed or not, simply cannot eat certain things due to high sensitivity to certain textures, or any of the nasty preservatives in our foods. I've seen children projectile vomit just from putting a different food in their mouths. What we just witnessed wasn't vomiting--it was actual regurgitation, which is different from vomiting. I've seen that many times. It doesn't come with the nausea--it comes from an instant rejection to something that the gut simply can't handle. Did you know that there are more neurons in the stomach than in the brain? Our GI tracts are "intelligent". They communicate directly in sync with the brain. So, if you have a brain disorder like ASD, your GI neurons are just as sensitive to stimuli as those in your brain.
