    Loved the detail with which you tell about all of the parts of the backpack. Seen the review, saw what other companies had to offer and bought this one. Thank you for a job well done.

    Thank you for this video! Even though it is not your preferred type of backpack, you provided enough useful information for me to conclude that this bag is exactly what I'm looking for. I am very impressed by the Thule Subterra 40L as well, but that one is optimized for traveling, while the 34L is more versatile.

    Nice review! What's your favourite travel bag that also can be used as a day pack with a laptop compartment?

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Před 5 lety +2

      Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback! and thats a great question! There are a lot of decent options and it will depend a lot on what you want to use the bag for and if you have a preference for a bag that works slightly better as a travel pack or as a daypack. For example the Aer Travel pack is probably my favorite travel pack and when compressed down with its side straps it is usable as a day bag, but it is still pretty big so it leans more to the travel pack size. The bag that I think manages this balance super well is the Oppose this invisible carry on which is a little more usable as a daily bag but can still hold a lot as a travel bag! Other travel bags that are decently sized for daily use in my opinion are the Burton Traverse Pack, the Minaal Carry on 2.0, the Tortuga Homebase and altho I haven't seen it in person yet, Tortuga's upcoming Setout Divide seems like it will be a great option as well. Some other bags that I really like that are not really travel bags but they can be used for shorter term travel and also work for daily use include the Nomatic Travel Pack, the Incase EO travel backpack, and the Wandrd Prvke series of bags. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bags =)

      Thank you for the well thought out reply! I actually ended up ordering the Thule Subterra 34L in Mineral. Pretty fond of Thule, they make great stuff! I have an old version of the Thule 25L (no ipad sleeve) that despite being used an f tone, it's still in great shape. Just need something with more space for trips. The Subterra seems to scratch that itch the most out of everything I've been researching. I do wish it opened up clam-shell and it had an extra quick access on top (like my 25L) But I think it fits my needs and the understated aesthetic I'm after. Hopefully it works out. I didn't know about packing cubes and how potentially useful they are. Definitely going to get a set for my next trip. Maybe pack them in to the mega cube that comes in this bag. Such a cool idea!

      Soooooo It got delivered the other day and I just shipped it back. I didn't like the rolltop design at all. What's the point of having a roll top if you can't extend it making the bag fit more or less? Thule's design only lets you fold it twice in order to clip the buckles. The other thing that annoyed me was the laptop compartment was tight and tough to get my MBP 15" with case out. The side zipper teeth are exposed on the inside of the laptop compartment so I would want to use a sleeve with this bag. On top of all that, it was not even comfortable. Soooo I guess you can say this Thule Subterra is not for me! Back to the drawing board. Looking at Aer Travel pack 2 and Minaal Carry-on 2.0. Both would be with extra waist straps. Which would you pick between those 2? Any others?

    What do you think Thule built quality (material, zip, durability) compare to Aer or Bellroy back pack? I gotta import those bag to my country, but thule is available here.. I am eyeing on Subterra 23L

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Před 4 lety

      Thank you for watching and good question! So far my experience with all the Thule bags I have used has been great and they have felt very durable. I'd say they're definitely as durable if not more than bellroy bags and id say they're pretty close with aer as well so if it's easier to buy thule I think it will be a good choice. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bag:)

      Yes that sounds like a great bag! The 34 was already really good, so having a little more space would really make it great for travel. If I am able to get my hands on one of them I will definitely try to make a video for it =)

    Nice review! just adjust the sound ;). In your opinion, which one is better? Aer Travel Backpack or Thula?

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Před 6 lety +2

      Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback! Apologies about the sound, unfortunately I shot this review before I had gotten a better microphone so the sound is definitely lower than i would have liked haha Thats a good question regarding which is better, personally I prefer the Aer Travel Backpack. I really like the design of that bag and I feel like it can hold a litle bit more. I also much prefer the clamshell opening of the Aer pack as opposed to the rolltop of the Thule as i think it is easier to pack that way. However, the Thule bag is a little bit cheaper and it also includes that really cool packing cube, so i think ultimately it will mostly depend on whether you prefer the rolltop bag or the clamshell style bag. Both bags are really great by the way and the quality of Thule products never fails to impress. Hope that helps and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bag =)

      Glad to help! and its definitely tricky with so many great travel bags available at the moment haha I haven't tried the set out just yet but it looks like a really good bag! It has a ton of space, definitely more than the Aer bag and a great price (199 I think). For me, I think the set out is a little too big and I would be worried that I would have to check it on international airlines and just from a style preference I still prefer the aer bag, but I think either would be great as a travel bag! =)

    I keep watching your videos back and forth :) but still can't decide what to buy.
    My final decision is between this bag (Thule subterra 34l) and Arcido Faroe.
    - I'm buying the bag for one-bag travel. (7 - 10 days usually).
    - I can get both bags at the same price ~100 pounds.
    Questions:
    Can Thule hold the same amount of clothing as Faroe?
    What would be your choice between the two at the same price?
    Thank you!

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Před 5 lety

      Thank you for watching and thats a tough choice as both bags are pretty great! I think i will always be a little biased towards bags that have a clamshell opening vs a rolltop. To me they are just easier to back if you are going to be packing alot and i feel like you can always squeeze just a little more in, so even though their capacity is close i still think the faroe can hold a little bit more. I do think the Thule has a little more versatility as it can get pretty small so it may work better as a daily bag and I also think the build quality is a little more sturdy (altho both are well made bags). So if i wanted a bag more geared towards travel i would go with the arcido bag (i would also take a look at the akra, which is an updated version of the faroe) and if i wanted something a little more versatile i would probably go with the Thule. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bags =)

      Thank you for watching! Unfortunately at the time i filmed this I did not confirm if the bag had YKK zippers, and altho I cannot find any informatio specific to the Subterra backpack, from what I can see on Thule's site, most of their bags include YKK zippers. Almost right. The last part is pronounced quick. The best way to describe it to an English speaking person would be like to pronounce the French word 'Le'. Like in 'Le grand'. It's not pronounced like the jeans company Lee, if that makes sense?

      @dannypacks  Před 5 lety

      Thank you for watching and good question! I would say the bag is more water resistance. the materials feel very good and the rolltop definitely helps keep water out, but I would be hesitant to call most bags water proof as I feel like theres always some chance that water will get in given hard enough rain or if it falls out of a boat and gets submerged or something like that haha Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional quesitons I can help answer about the bag =)

    How about Peak Design 30L compare to this?

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Před 7 lety

      Hello and thank you for watching! I have not yet been able to test out the Peak Design bag, but it looks amazing and if I am able to get one soon I will make sure to include some thoughts comparing these two and which one I think is better for which purposes. I can't speak to the quality of the Peak Design bag as I haven't actually held it yet, but I think that bag is more my style because I am not a huge fan of the roll top design of the subterra. I really like the magnetic latch on the PD bag and I also like how it provides side access from both sides to the interior of the bag which I think would be really helpful to better reach items in the bottom of the bag. It's also really nice that the PD bag has those configurable dividers so you can organize things in tons of different ways. The advantages of the Subterra may be that it seems like it may be better suited to stand up to rain (due to the roll top design and the rugged material on the outside) and it may also be a little more secure or harder to get into. Also, and this is a minor point, but the packing cube that the subterra came with is pretty cool and a nice bonus. Thank you again for watching and if I am able to get a Peak Design bag I will definitely make sure to post a thorough review.

    • @NetvoTV
      @NetvoTV Před 7 lety

      Traveling Salseros thanks, I have a Thule Crossover 25L(it's my first and only Thule backpack) and I'm a Thule fan, but it has some quality issue, already send 3 back and the warranty dropped from 25 yrs to just a tiny 2 yrs!!! I like the Subterra lineup, try to look if there's any Thule backpack may suit me or consider to get, but the quality issue and 2 years warranty really disappointed me, and after I see the Peak Design backpack video, I really like it and after I watch review video, I think it suit me a lot as it's customizable I can use it as school/office/shopping/camera backpack! I think I will get the 30L and maybe in future see if I still need another backpack or luggage then I will get a Thule backpack/luggage again! The peak design I remember it has lifetime warranty, great water resistant material but it's expensive and the top cover seem like pretty small and I'm not sure if heavily rain will go in the side!

    • @NetvoTV
      @NetvoTV Před 7 lety

      What camera you used in this video by the way?

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Před 7 lety +1

      At the moment I am filming all the reviews from my iPhone 7 Camera =) I'm sorry to hear about the quality issues you have had with your Thule bag and that's sad the warranty period has been shortened so much. That's great to hear that Peak Design offers lifetime warranty and that's definitely something I've been keeping in mind with a lot of the bags I've purchased recently from companies such as GORUCK, Aer, Timbuk2, etc. The peak design definitely sounds like it will be great for all the things you mentioned, and if you get the 30l it may even be great as a travel bag as well (I believe they said that the 30 L can expand up to a capacity of 38L which is pretty big!). If you end up getting the 30L I would definitely like to hear your thoughts on how well it keeps rain out and how much it can hold!

I try to finish my first book as soon as possible so I can make videos again and review the Crossover 25L, and later if I get the Peak Design Everyday Backpack 30L I will do a review too!
