    Oh my god it’s been a long time since I watched your reviews. Just got back to using CZcams again and I’m amazed of the improvements on the reviews and consistency!!
    Also, this travel bag looks super durable for long flights 🤔 another to consider. Am I looking forward to a Tumi backpack soon??

      Thank you for watching and glad to see you back on youtube! and yes this bag feels really durable and I have always had good experiences with thule bags =) I haven't been able to get any Tumi bags just yet, but they definitely have some bags I would like to feature on the channel, so if i can get my hands on one I will be glad to do a review for them!

    Thank you!! Have been waiting for a good review on this bag! Thule makes some really good quality bags. I was eyeing this one.
    I think this bag is more suited for people with a taller/bigger frame. Looks fine on you. However when I tried it, felt like a huge overpowering shell. Just my thoughts.
    Great bag and quality nonetheless!

      Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback! and for sharing your experience with the bag, its always great to hear from people who have used the bags first hand to get some different perspectives and I can definitely see how the bag might feel big on certain body types. And I definitely agree on the Thule quality I have always been a big fan for sure! =)

    It would be great if you gave technical details e.g. dimensions of the laptop sleeve. In particular, would a 17'' fit?

    I have been using this backback for 2,5 years and I love it. There is only one thing I miss an that is some kind of e.g. mesh pocket that can be pulled out on the side for a water bottle. It is very light and very versitile. I am a traveling service engineer and it has been with me all around the world through airports, clibing ladders, repelled from helicopter and it has never let me down.
    Tip: If you are climbin a ladder, you can take of the sholder strap from the laptop bag, attach one end to the bag and one end to e.g. your belt. It will now hang below you as you are climbing and you so your center of gravity will be low and you can safely get on and off the ladder.

  • @TheSynecdoche
    @TheSynecdoche Před 4 lety +1

    Just a small correction: there is no need to remove the shoulder strap to open the main compartment at all. Both attachment rings are on the same side of the zipper so the strap never really gets in the way. And if you don't use the shoulder strap it can be stowed away in the back compartment with the rucksack straps. I have the bag and am very pleased with it.

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Před 4 lety

      Thank you for watching and for sharing your experience! I’m glad you have enjoyed using the bag, it’s really great! You’re right about the shoulder strap not being an issue, I think I had more of an issue with one of the backpack straps but I may have just set that strap up incorrectly :)

  • @sleddy01

    This is one of the coolest bags I’ve seen. If it were 30L or even 35L and a little lighter I’d be all in. Do you know how much the laptop sleeve weighs? Great review!

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Před 4 lety

      Thank you for watching and I definitely agree it would be cool to have this style of bag in different size options! I don’t know the exact weight of the sleeve unfortunately but it’s not too heavy especially if you leave the should we strap off :)

    • @sdemosi
      @sdemosi Před rokem

      There's a 34 litre version but the design is a bit different. I have the Aion which is 28-32 litres in the expandable version and 40 litre in the max carry on version. It's a similar clamshell design.
      Overall I like Thule but they don't sell their products directly in my country so finding their stuff can be a pain. Example, their compressible packing cubes are great but I can't find any website where I can get them. I picked mine up when traveling.

    Have been looking at this bag for awhile now and saw it recently went on sale on Amz and REI. The Dark Shadow is/was priced for $99.99. At that price, couldn't pass it up, especially considering you're getting two bags for that price. Intend to use the sleeve as my "personal item" while on the plane to hold snacks, laptop, water bottle, etc. and the main bag as my carry-on. Love the sleek look and style, well done Thule.

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Před 4 lety

      Thank you for watching and that’s great you were able to pick it up at that price! Definitely a great deal and I love that it includes that additional sleeve!:)

    • @johnschmidt5839
      @johnschmidt5839 Před 4 lety

      @@dannypacks Agreed. The additional sleeve can be used in many ways, and creates even more packing space in the bag when carried separately as a messenger. Feel its addition really sets the Subterra 40L apart from other similarly priced bags, even more so at the $100 price point. Love the structure and sleekness as well, as I'm not a fan of the "saggy sack" look that most bags offer. Hard case structure in a soft-sided bag is the best of both worlds imo. Really wanted it in Black and was concerned the Dark Shadow was more Grey, but before I bought it I was lucky enough to chat with a few who owned it and was glad to hear it was basically black. One thing I've noticed in practically all the bag reviews out there that I've watched (it's been a ton lol), is that very few people actually describe the color of the bag they're reviewing. Seems like most of the Thule's that are reviewed are in the Dark Shadow color, but wasn't able to find a single review that mentioned that or what color "Dark Shadow" actually resembled. Understand colors can look different to different people, which may well be the reason. Didn't even think of hitting you up to ask, considering it's been a minute since you did the review. Doubted most followed up on comments on posts from 2yrs ago lol. Great job on the review btw, really informative and a great influence on my decision to purchase. Thanks and keep up the great work.

    I think for longer trips traveling with just one bag is not the best. I used the Subterra 36L carry on on wheels and a 25L thule crossover backpack to travel through Europe for a month and Hawaii for three weeks. We were a family of 4 all using just a carry in and backpacks. My tip: use Packing Cubes, they are the best!

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Před 4 lety

      Thank you for watching and for sharing your experience! I definitely agree on the packing cubes they are awesome! and thats another good way to travel for sure! Using one bag can be very convenient and a fun way to travel but there are definitely situations where another set up may make more sense =)

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Před 4 lety +2

      Thank you for watching and good question! Unfortunately the bag is going to be too big to be considered a personal item or fit under the seat. In addition to the size it is also pretty rigid so it can’t be squeezed into a smaller space easily. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bag :)

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Před 5 lety

      Thank you for watching! I hadn’t heard of the landmark 60L yet but it looks pretty cool! For the moment it’s unlikely I will review it as I typically don’t like to travel with bags that large, 40-45 is the largest I will go but I typically like to stay in the 35L range as it has made it so easy to travel on international airlines haha :)

    How water and tear resistant is this bag?

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Před 4 lety

      Thank you for watching! Ive used a few Thule bags with this type of material and they’ve always held up well to my normal usage and the material and zippers seem to offer a nice amount of weather resistance (so in light to medium rain the bag should be good but for anything heavier I would worry water might start to get in without some sort of rain cover) hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bag!:)

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Před 5 lety +1

      Thank you for watching and good question! Yes I have found that 40L is a pretty accepted size on both domestic and international airlines, this one in particular has a smaller look than many other 40l bags that I have tried out. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bag =)

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  Před 2 lety

      Thank you for watching and definitely a tough choice between the two! If comfort is most important and you will be wearing the bag for a long period of time I would likely lean towards the far point but I like the look and simple layout of the subterra more so I would probably go with that one if just going from transport to hotel / etc.

      Thank you for watching! and yes i thought it was unfortunate that with a bag this size they didn't include a waist strap =( I do think because the bag itself isn't too heavy it doesn't feel too bad, but it still would have been better to have included one for sure!
