    Newbie here ... thank you! I got my half hour walk-through from the dealership when it was delivered, and I have a wonderful farmer neighbor who hooked up my hay bale spear for me, but didn't explain anything and didn't let me get off the tractor while he did it. Cheers and thanks for the vid!

    Been attaching a box blade to either a Kubota B 7200 or L 2501 since 1980. Did it today, in fact. You guys got it just right. Do not pay attention to any comments about taking too long to explain this procedure. I did exactly what you did today. But, remember, I had 40 years worth of experience. And, it took you 10 minutes. Took me a bit longer than that. Quick hitch is relatively flimsy for real box blade work, in my experience. Not really worth the expense. Strong video, you guys. Next time attaching the box blade will be quicker. Or not. Thanks. Stay safe.

    Great video really helped me yesterday. Originally, I had bought a quick hitch. Problem: not all implements are manufactured to the standard that will fit the quick hitch and sometimes I had to raise or lower the top pin attachment which was a pain in the... and sometimes the top pin attachment hook didn't fit between the back of the implement's pin and the implement... (There are lots of videos with hints about making that work...) So, quick hitch came off, and I was left relying on your video to figure out how to hook up my box blade which I was using personally for the first time. It is quite hard to align those bottom arms. It was very helpful to learn that I could raise and lower the arms manually. It's still a lot of times on and off the tractor for one person and a few repetitions of inching 1/8 inch forward and left or right. But I got it and now my driveway won't cause the UPS truck to lose too many parts. On another note, my buddy recommended these and I saw them on his tractor and I just ordered them: smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00U00AUNW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Should be an excellent compromise between the original full quick hitch and doing it manually and should save me significant time. The only thing with this part is one needs to use bushings to take the implement pin from a cat 1 to a cat 3 which I have already done with my other implements for the original quick hitch... Another useful thing that Tractor Mike shows is the adjustable extensions for the bottom arms so they can slide longer and shorter when hooking up. Have a good day and thanks again. You really did save me yesterday because I was sooo frustrated! I subscribed.

    Well fellas, it's looking promising. Now let's see this super duper, humper dumper box blade earn it's keep. Great video on how to attach a tractor implement. Your approach may not be how experts do it but I would hazard to guess you' re not very far off( if at all). It seems logical to do it the way you suggested somehow. Now all you need is a chainsaw attachment to harvest your furniture wood!!! Very well documented. Kind regards.

  • @news8000
    @news8000 Před 4 lety +2

    It's been a year so I hope you've figured this out already - it's recommended to use a non-slotted pin location on the telescopic stabilizers for implements like the scraper. The slotted holes get used for implements like plows, discers, sub-soilers... There's way too much lateral sway when you use those slots for the scraper. Page 54 in my B2650 operator's manual, Hydraulic Control Unit Use Reference Chart. Hope this helps. My box scraper uses the tighter setting as referenced - you'll probably find it works better, especially when "back-scraping" with it.

    Great demonstration fellas, I found this very informative. It is helpful for rookies like me to see the "average" person working this equipment versus the rehearsed salesmen. I anticipate that trouble shooting is an implied task when working tractors and attachments. It is nice to see someone else's "wheels turning". I may have missed this on one of your previous videos; but, what are your thoughts on your tractor versus the L2501? I am in the market to purchase a sub-compact or compact tractor. Models of interest are Kubota's B2650, L2501 or Kioti CK series.
    thanks
    Pete

    • @ForestToFarm
      @ForestToFarm  Před 6 lety

      Thanks Pete! And thanks for your apparent service to our fine country!!
      Definitely going to be lots of trouble shooting I am sure.
      The Kioti seems like a good tractor but we have no real hands on with them and there are mixed reviews so its hard to say on that one. Dealer and service would be my biggest concerns. How close are they. Some people say they have a hard time finding parts.
      The Kubota's are very similar. The B2650 has 1.2 more horse power. It has a greater lift capacity on the rear 3 point hitch and I believe the loader as well. The B2650 also has more PTO HP. It has the front PTO as well which allows for a belly mower. This is the largest Kubota tractor (iirc) that can have a belly mower set up. It has tilt steering which in my opinion is a huge plus because it makes getting on and off the tractor much easier. It also allows you to get more comfortable once seated. The B2650 really excels in my opinion on the fact that the lever control for the front end loader is right at your side along side the fender. Also there are arm rests which gives great back pain relief when driving for extended periods. All these bells and whistles may not sound like much but when your on that tractor for extended periods you will most likely be glad you have them. We are actually working on a video about this so check back soon for the results!
      The only advantage I see with the L2501 is its a little heavier and a bit more wheel base giving a bit more stability. The down side to the larger L2501 is we were able to turn the B2650 around in a tight area at the dealer then tried turn the L2501 around in the same tight area and it took a 3 point turn to get it going in the other direction. Also note that the B2650 left almost no tracks while the L2501 was very aggressive and left deep tracks in the grassy area we were driving in.
      If you are working in tight spaces the B2650 wins hands down. Also its great for driving in yards.
      The L2501 may be your winner if you plan to do more field work. The larger tires and wider stance would be an advantage in those conditions.
      In my opinion the B2650 is the way to go.

    OK, one last comment, not a stupid one.
    In Australia we have councils (county and city merged into council) and they are cracking down on waste heavily, from general waste, recycling and even green waste to the point of giving away compost buckets for the kitchen (1 ft high and a hand can fit inside), and a yearly supply or biodegradable bags (additional bags can be purchased they say)
    I'm just wondering, what is the optimum level for composting I live in an apartment so I don't have access to charcoal unless purchased, but I have communal living area where the neighbours like the idea (or don't really care)
    And... do I throw in mouldy bread to assist the decomposing process so that it rapidly thrives?
    They are offering compost bins for like... far less than the cheapest place around (at production cost) so might as well try it...
    "what are you composting for?" you might ask, well... pot plants... anything really and having proper potting mix made at home is far better than $20 a bag.

    • @ForestToFarm
      @ForestToFarm  Před 6 lety +1

      We compost all of our food, non meat waist. I have a pile of wood chips out back and just put them under the wood chips. Worms colonize the pile and make quick work of the food scraps/waste. All wood chips, grass clippings, leaves and anything organic gets put in compost piles.
