#YuGiOh #Rare #Episode1 - Hry
I think a cool way to continue this series is that you can still use all the cards you pulled from the previous sets. That way your decks slowly develop and grow. Also this way we could see the return of Paulâs blue eyes when he wins the next duel!
The series we didnât know we needed
Facts!
But I mean it's pretty cool
Can you really set a field spell like that to destroy your old field spell? Lol. Also, that Trap Hole on the Blue Eyes White Dragon hit me hard in the soul! đą
True
Nani?! Senpaiz noticed me!! I think yâall gotta use yâall personal decks at least once tho Ijs
Setting that field spell over the active field spell was probably the most 5Head play you can do in this format lmao
It actually feels good to watch a couple of duelists exchange blows instead of spending 5 minutes per turn filing their taxes attempting to special summon an entire field of effect-negating monsters to OTK.
Agreed!!! Thatâs how the game should be played âŠ
This is funny but sad at the same time as thatâs what the game has turned into these days đą old school yugioh was way more fun/enjoyable to play and watch fell like it started going the way it is rn after 5Ds
These guys are the only ones that play fun
Ya and when they narrate their plays like in the anime is funny too
I can't hit like hard enough
That two-pronged attack play was so hype for something from LOB
24:15 Tripwire Beast is a Thunder monster, meaning it also got the field bonus from Umi and they should have crashed. HIGHLY doubt it would have changed the outcome of the duel if they actually did, but still felt it had to be pointed out
Yeah with the later turn draws, Alec just would have potentially lost 1000-2000 more life points. He still would have had the board presence to finish off the game either way
alec would have slightly less life points but with dark energy, it wouldnt have mattered
Shouldnt each player have only been affected by their own field spell?
@@toastywozzy nope field spells affect the entire field :D
Also his bird that was a beast that should've gained from the forest. It's like, Rare Hunter purposely ignored his field spell on Pegasuss monsters, but made sure his monsters got the boost. LOL
Really appreciate the guys re-explaining Pot of Greedâs effect each time. Having a tough time keeping track of these complex card effects!
I honestly love this kind of yugioh. You see a lot of your deck. You can build a board for cool Tribute monsters. Whatever the enemy play it is not to hard to clear. Its also cool that 2000 Def Monsters are really hard to kill but not very dangerous themselves. They allow you to develop your board without spiraling out of control.
This is a really sick idea for a series! Just having something progression-adjacent with in-person cards makes it so much more impactful, here's hoping Episode 2 comes soon with some Metal Raiders!
PS: Nice logo you got there for the series, style looks familiar!
Wonder who did such a logo đ€
Love your pokemon content meatball!
This is exactly what I've been missing. Good, old-fashioned back and forth Yu-Gi-Oh! Thank you so much for making this. It's fantastic and tasteful and filled with nostalgia
Adding to your existing card pool would work out best I feel, though you could reset your card pool at each era, so at GX you would start over, to avoid deck lists getting stale or having to deal with imperial order for 100 episodes. Also you could open the packs on a simulator and then buy the singles in paper which would be SO MUCH cheaper
Yes, It's better than watching a 20-minute combo.
No it isn't at all lmfao. Nobody would play YGO if it was still like this, current YGO evolved for a reason
@@ExtraVictory wrong
@@napkinx4341 bruh Before the extra deck combos YGO had no depth at all. It was basically manaless MTG which is a far inferior game. Nowadays YGO has so much complexity even casual players are planning 50 steps ahead
@@ExtraVictoryyou are just severely in the minority, YGO is a dead game because casuals canât get back into the game when they loved playing as a kid. Most games end in round one or two wtf are you talking about planning ahead. YGO is trash now compared to other card games
@@iam-geoffreytheelite5275 the minority lmao? You mean like how YGO is still growing in every market and making a killing while also having one of the highest grossing media franchise IPs?
Finally got Episode 1 of this new series up! It's been a long time coming (we had some expensive difficulties with getting these packs! We're excited to see where it goes and would love your feedback and suggestions, too! We'll try to incorporate some before we record Episode 2 with Metal Raiders!

Nice
Have yall considering doing gx or 5ds era duals instead? A lot of people don't like modern yugioh because it's over in 3-4 turns of playing solitare, but 5ds has a lot of back and forth, decent combo decks and you can still have very solid 20-30 turn duels without having to deal with handtraps or a lot of the stuff that makes modern yugioh unfun.
I'd really consider that to be the holy grail era of yugioh personally. Please give it some thought.
@@LightningbreakZinOC Yes, but it'd be hard to change now that we've started with LOBE. Not to say it can't just be where the series goes anyway, though! I was thinking we could separate the eras (DM > GX > 5Ds) instead of having them run together.
If you don't mind me asking, did you pay $200+ per pack or are these a reprint? I've been out of the YGO loop for a while but they look like 2002 LOB packs.
@@punk979 These are the reprint packs. They WERE still about $20 per pack, though... đđ
Awesome idea for a series, love when you use old school cards.
I do, too! However, I think it would've been more entertaining if they each got one of the original Yugi or Kaiba starter decks, as well as the 12 packs. It would've been a much better & more exciting dual imo.
Really hope this series continues. The concept is cool having a mix of pack opening and dueling with something on the line. Really hoping to see some of the "rare" cards in future decks.
enjoyed it a lot, hopefully this series won't get too expensive to produce down the line lol. also caught that G Gundam reference there!
you lucky i dont live in town, id yoink all the rare cards. **scratch that - I'll just be Marik. Bring the cards back to me.
nah jokes aside, this is a great series idea, can't wait to see how it unfolds.
Thank you Deion! đđŸ You can't have my gold fire chicken though! đĄ
@@TeamAPS MEGA ULTRA CHICKEN
As long and drawn out as some of these cavemen Yugioh games can get, I do enjoy the fact that these cards that we normally consider worthless nowadays actually impact the duel. Reaper of the Cards forcing Trap Hole, letting Tri-Horned Dragon get on the field safely, meager 200 ATK/DEF boosts making the difference between losing the duel right there, and getting another turn. It's fun to see these normally overlooked cards get a chance to shine, even if it does make the duel last two eternities. đ
Remember Yugioh Episode One, Kamouri Dragon was considered "So powerful it couldn't possibly be defeated" with 1500 attack points.
Thats why Yugi still had cards in his deck like, KEY MACE.
He has key mace even in battle city. he even chooses it intentionally when he goes into the virtual world to fight noah, he literaly could've picked blue eyes white dragons but he was like no, key mace. and never once placed it, but you can find it in his hand from time to time. no fucking idea why.
And joey had swordsman of landstar and other stupid cards.
now i get it whhy joey had bad cards, but yugi was the king of games, and beat Kaiba. Surely he could've gotten SOMETHING. thats why i liked the episode with him and tea going to get cards. that was awesome, finally showing us them getting cards.
but also that was his grandpa's deck, and it was so good it beat kaiba and won the king of games tournament, which is presumably the tournament with the best duelists in the world. and at that point, 2 headed king rex was considered one of the strongest in the game, and that was back when tributes werent required.
So. Yeah. I guess Pegasus didnt release cards. Maybe you had to earn them, like you couldnt just go buy a box of yugioh packs like in real life, it seems maybe you had to win new cards, because no one, not even the best in the world, had many good cards. honestly i think bandit keith had the best deck, every single card he had was a total badass or served some purpose. but people like Mai who used 1300 monsters and Rex who had weak ass dino's,
but yeah 1500 was considered extremely powerful and 1600 was considered pretty much the top tier best of the best. I dont know exactly where the line is drawn, they didnt really talk Swordstalker up, or Curse of Dragon. Hell even Gaia doesnt get much respect. But Serpent Night Dragon and Red-Eyes with 2350 and 2400 were considered legendary rares. Black Skull and Meteor Black Dragon were basically mythical cards that no one thought existed basically.
But honestly, back in these days, i can see why weevil was one of the best. since they thought 1500 was a strong card, it makes sense no one could beat this 2000 point caccoon so he probably hit that 3500 point monster regularly, its not like you could trap hole it and its not like you could raigeki it.
Better than OTKs and FTKs that take 30 minutes
This was so much fun! I love hearing you guys slip into, uh, Yu-Gi-Oh character personas. And also, I love when you guys narrate every move because it lets me *listen* to the video while working.
Ya and it's like the anime lol
Fun fact: this is how Yugioh was meant to be played. How the original players handbook read, you were meant to wager your rarest card every round/match
We use to do this in the school yard
I remember that i had a complete destiny hero deck from GX season 1-2 era
It was much easier to get/trade the destiny hero cards because the others were hype on elemetal heroes where as i prefer the more obscure destiny heroes.
I do indeed appreciate this old yu-gioh. It's honestly some of the only stuff I'm able to follow fully because everything after 5ds era is confusing AF and not really understandable unless everything is fully communicated each moment/chain. now that I say that, I'd love that with the modern stuff. A video where you constantly explain the rules with a new modern deck.Or at least continue showing cards enlarged in the video for me to be able to pause and read the paragraphs lol
@Paradoxical enigma links are very easy. It's basically fusion summon without the poly and wherever the arrow points to is where more links can go...yeah that's it
After getting back into Duel Links for the first time in 5 years, I can safely say Links are just annoying cuz of their effects but it's not too bad when you figure them out. But Pendulums are still the bane of my existence with 2 separate effects depending on where they're played. So... I'm pretty much just watching Arc-V to get a feel for them
@@majoratwili7312 when links released first in the tcg they were absolute trash for a good 2 years. We didn't get stuff like salamangreat until 2019, 3 years after they were released. The only good one was decode talker for 2 years until the knightmares came out.
@@the_alpha_arachnid4831 Didnât Firewall Dragon come out in 2017 or something, and get banned because it was bonkers?
24:14 Tripwire Beast shouldnât have lost that battle. He gets the Umi benefit too being a Thunder monster. Wouldâve killed both monsters.
Wow I can't believe we still managed to misplay đŻ
@@alecfields1153 happens to everyone. Still love yâallâs content. Keep it coming

Ohhh this makes me think of cimoooo's progression series, but IRL and with a twist. Hope you'll continue this!
This series is about to be nothing but pure đ„
So excited for it!
Aaaah the Battle City nostalgia. đ Can't wait to watch this later and to see where this series goes. đYou guys always do creative fun stuff with YGO. đ And I love the old AND new YGO. :) Also happy for Larry in the Hole S2 haha.
This series is excellent, as a returning player it's great to see how the meta evolves over the years. Would be great if you guys can play with the Master Rules at the time though, i.e. only one Field Spell at a time.
Oh yeah I had forgotten that one. Well, it's a simple mistake a lot of us made before we ever played by tourney rules so not really that big of a deal.
Canât you just watch progression series for that?
this was so much more fun than i expected a duel with nearly no effect monsters to be, that blue eyes play was fricking amazing
I do like this because I can actually follow whatâs happening without too much difficulty, but I do understand how slow it is compared. Thanks for this guys! Been watching your videos every day for the last couple weeks and keep finding fun videos to watch!
The fact that setting a field spell over your own existing field spell was a pivotal move in this duel proves how perfect OG Yu-Gi-Oh was
Ah, this made me remember this duel from yesterday where someone was using an ocg archetype that focuses on columns and field spell activation.
I used his own field spells against him over the course of the duel
I love the old Yugioh duels!!! Itâs a lot easier to follow.
Also a lot less exiting and much more bland
I miss this back and forth also not explaining an essays worth of text per card
@Paradoxical enigma ah, yes, I summon a big guy, then you summon a bigger guy, then I summon a bigger guy, then you win because you drew a broken S/T and got insane advantage. Such an exiting back and forth with so many decisions for players to make. I have no clue how anyone can enjoy this beyond novelty factor.
Also using casual format for "old" yugioh, but competitive for the "modern" one is disingenuous. Either compare their competitive sides (both suck, but old sucks way more), or focus on casual play (modern wins by a landslide, due to variety of stuff you can play).
@@kindlingking Ah yes, cause modern yugiohs so much better interaction wise. I play card A, you play hand trap X. I respond with card B, you respond with op negate Y. I attemp to salvage my turn with card C, you finish with broken card Z. Now I have no choice but to watch as you proceed to combo for 5 hours straight, having game umpteen times but rather then end it proceed to flex even though I can't respond to any of your plays. Ah yes modern yugioh is superior, no doubt.
@@recruiterforteambasilisk4642 OP NEGATE, BROKEN, COMBO FOR 5 HOURS, UNBALANCED, FLEX
How many more buzzwords do you know? Honestly, your comment sounds wildly specific as if something like this happened to you and you're now extremely salty about it. Just a hunch.
If you can't or don't want to keep up with meta, just play casually ffs. Pick up War Rocks or Tindangles or Noble Knights or Amazoness or any other less powerful archetype and play with friends. Why do you people continue to play and whine about things you clearly don't enjoy? Do you know why EDH is the most popular MtG format for casuals specifically? Because it's entirely decentralised and it's power level varies from one player group to another, depending on what that group in particular enjoys.
It's series like these that gravitates me to this channel.
Modern Yu Gi Oh is so fast paced and full of interruptions, duelists seem to forget to actually enjoy the duel.
Itâs not much but just wanted to say this has been an awesome series thus far, I hope you guys are making some money to cover those boxes. Thanks for having fun and sharing it with us on CZcams
"Is this what you want from Yugioh these days?"
Yes. Back and forths are what make the game fun.
Yes!!!
Agreed. today's game has too many negates. if the whole point of playing is to keep the other person from playing, how is that fun?
@@thecosmicartist3060 its about smartly playing around negates and actually strategize opposed to playing 1 card every turn
@@AirRunnersViper having overpowered cards that can start a 12 minute combo by themselves isn't strategizing, it's just sheer force.
While I agree with you, I personally think the peak of yugioh came a little later. Maybe early Synchro era or smth
Very enjoyable to watch. The game can be turn based without feeling mundane, hence the fun banter. This is the true point of playing a game with friends. Dope
Lol the second he summoned the blue eyes, Alec used a trap đ đ€Ł
Honestly, this brought back a lot of memories of not just the anime, but when my friends and I tried doing something like this. Needless to say, it did not go well. However, we still had fun and I hope we see this continue. Keep up the amazing vids guys! Love it!
Omg this series will be amazing, can't wait for more!!
I hope this series goes on
I keep watching this from start to finish its just so fun watching you guys open the packs and building decks.
You guys are so awesome for bringing back the old school cards. I grew up with these cards
man, brings me back to my childhood, were you never knew who could win! Please continue. Maybe after LOB only start another tournament, where you can only use cards from other old school booster collections.
This was amazing, absolutely loved every second of it!
Paul trying to get his fellow duelist to go along with the "Pot of Greed" meme will never not be funny to me
Definitely enjoyed watching this! Super nostalgic and canât wait for the other duels from the other sets, i can only see this getting more challenging the more into the meta you guys go. Maybe add best 2 of 3? Also get the other fellas into this series as well. Great video!
Great new series. My only ideas is to do best out of 3's to win the card (i love these simple old duels). And maybe both can bring 5-10 cards from the previous deck to the next episode. I am looking forward to Metal raiders next!
And dont forget the rest of the crew.
4:38 "This hand of mine is burning red! Its loud roar tells me to grasp victory! Here I go! Erupting Burning FINGER!"
26:10 lol Paul
27:34 I never knew you can set a Field spell that way before
aw domon
BEAM SPAM, NU GUNDAM ISN'T JUST FOR SHOW, LET'S GO BARBATOS , UNICORN, I AM GUNDAM, I'LL NEVER GIVE UP FOREVER, MISSION COMPLETE, YALL LIKE JAZZ, KAMILE IS A MAN NAME, AND GUNDAM LAUNCHING
The first episode of this series was awesome even the way by seeing how we all started playing the game it re lit a fire for me with this game.
Watching this brought all the memories back cant wait for the next episode.
Excited to see the series! We play something somewhat close to this called League in MTG with friends, each week you get an infusion of new cards and you both agree to trade certain cards after a win/loss. Some weeks its a Pre-constructed Deck that everyone gets, but most of the time its packs!
What a nice idea for a series. Excited for some episodes đ€
Paul summoning Blue Eyes only to lose it to hole only to trigger his two pronged attack had me more hype than I'd like to admit.
Dude these are so informative+instructive to new players. Just by observing your duel, i already have so many questions answered.
We do try to teach a little Yugioh when we play
Thank you guys SOOO much!
I look forward to seeing more Rare Hunter Episodes to come!
I love seeing nice and balanced duel monsters matches!
(The new age of dueling . . . Itâs just not true duel monsters.)
Thank you guys so much for making this content!
It would be cool if you could put up to 10 cards from your previous packs in your following decks. Kinda like throughout this series your deck is evolving like Yugiâs did throughout the show. Great video either way!
I can already tell this is going to be awsome!!
I love how dramatic you guys are :) so fun!
A progression series using physical cards and where each duelist places their wager at the beginning of the duel is so good.
Do you keep the cards from this week and roll them into the next duel? Would be cool to keep building up a deck with stolen rare cards
"Is this what you guys want?"
Me (who is currently replaying through The Eternal Duelist Soul on GBA): "Yes."
I can't wait for episode 2! Are you guys gonna continue to use the decks you've previously built and add new cards to them? That'd be super special awesome!
For me this is Yu-Gi-Oh at its best. I hope we will see more videos like this. I really enjoyed it.
Pretty crazy you guys pulled TWO LOB SR Blue Eyes and Tri-horn Dragon in different videos less than a month apart
Man this brings back memories! Tri-Horn was my favorite card. So sad the day I lost mine.
I loved everything about this video. I'm a new player who just got into duel links, and seeing a simple, easy to understand video like this is amazing. Great editing too!!
Absolutely incredible, I can't wait to see how taking another's rarest card will affect both of you in future duels!
The way Paul opens packs is so tilting. Loving the content guys!
Imagine getting tilted by how someone opens a pack.
Wait, sorry... what does the pot of greed do again?
I've been watching you guys for about a month now and I subscribed today, keep up the OG yugioh content
My new favorite series on CZcams!!! This is đ„!
"Is this what you guys want?"
Hell yes, old school Yu-Gi-Oh! was the best â€ïž
I think when a lot of people say they miss old school YGO itâs not usually for this particular era, though Iâm sure some still miss this. I think itâs usually for stuff closer to the GX era where it was faster than this for sure, but not a snailâs pace like this is.
"Do you know what this does?"
"WE'VE PLAYED IT TWICE!"
lmao
This was great please make more. Iâm curious are guys going to keep the deck from previous episodes and build your deck as the episodes progress? Or build new decks entirely each episode ? I like the idea I seeing your guys decks getting better and better as the series continues. Keep up the great content.
In case this is a progression style series: pls add 3 polymerization to both players cardpool by default. It makes duels and pulls more exciting if fusion cards arent dead right from the start. Imagine a Twin-Head Thunder Dragon in Episode 2, that would be hype
See now this is the Yugioh I love and remember, this brought back nostalgia and made me want to get back into dueling, please keep up these great videos you guys! I subscribed!
I'm more of a Magic player myself, but Yugioh was my childhood, so these old school duels definitely hits my nostalgia. Great video guys!
Glad you enjoyed! We've had so much fun playing with these cards again
Love this series! You guys got me back into Yugioh even though I'm confused with all the new rules and monsters hahaha
18:18 Also the Duelist Kingdom fields were often half and half anyways
This series is epic just to think about how later they get into packs old and new would be cool to see and what decks they come up with and even the pulls EPIC
Super cool idea. Canât wait to see how this series progresses
Absolutely love this, adore irl draft stuff and the twist is super fun!
This a great watch looking forward too more of this brings back fun times playing with the old yu gi oh cards
I really enjoyd this episode. Having fun and all. This is much better to eatch than those boring championships tournaments.hahaha

When the video started i was so happy right away, the concept is awesome for a video serie.
But then, the pulls just made it so much better ! haha. I didn't think the ones you showed in the begining were gonna be pulled fresh :)
25:55 Ofc I remember this line. Dotodoya doesn't let me forget it đ
Lol deffinetly threw that in there đ€Ł. Yall got mossed. Cmon man!
First video I've ever seen from you guys. Love the banter and as a big fan of Yu-Gi-Oh myself I like seeing your custom decks. (Currently working on making an insect type deck)
Must say you guys have made me want to get back into Yu-Gi-Oh again, I haven't played since like the 2000s, real long time ago. I go to a local club that does various card games and war games. I think I'll pick it back up in there as they can teach me the mechanics that have been added since I last played. Keep up the awesome work
Didnât know that my new CZcams fascination would be yugioh content. I love it here
