_For the life of me, there's just this appeal of classic rock and Nam War or Cold war era footage and I really like it._
truly the aesthetic!
Vietnam war, 2 tours 72, 73. VMFA-122,.HMH-463.
Rhodesia aswell. Any war between them times is essentially a time of Music that spoke personality in Mass.
Not In singular on a Phone Screen
Same i kinda left 80s music in the dust for this kind of music. (poor 80s music)
The classic rock music and the Vietnam War years are intertwined for all eternity.
Looking at these young soldiers, marines, airmen, sailors and coast guardsmen in action just give me chill doing the job that they had been ordered to do, and the hostile reception they received when they got home.
😢
I took my then young boys to the Vets First welcome home celebration in the Ozarks at Branson Missouri, 15 years ago. Way over due. Was a great experience, met some very cool men !
You’re right.
Weren’t so bad, Charlie’s woman were always ready and willing to easy there pain
@@TeriNkcGreetings fellow Missourian!
I remember the 6 o'clock news on CBS when I was a kid... a black US solder being carried from the jungle his right leg shot below the knee with his blood pumping out. When I remember this war, I think of him, dying for all the world to see.
That's how I was when I got to the helicopter...bleeding like a stuck pig. I was hit by shrapnel in my legs, arms, left foot, and right flank with liver and kidney damage. If the chopper didn't get me to the MASH unit as quickly as it did, I would have bled out. How I got onto a vehicle and a stretcher under my own power I'll never know. Must have been adrenaline.
This war taught the DoD to CONTROL THE MEDIA.
Black experience the most intense as usual.
@@kenbranaugh8251 brothers in arms, if he’s your buddy his skin colour is meaning, his blood like yours is red.
Vietnam was such a fucked up war yet it’s so fascinating to learn about. This song fits the violence so well
honestly couldn't have described it any better, I feel the same about it haha
Yall wait a wee bit ukraine is gonna be fucked up
Fits? Exactly how?
The ‘chaos’ and the desperation of teenagers on both sides trying to kill each other by ‘any means necessary’…just the fact of surviving such an event is life changing, not to mention exhilarating…We can all go up that ‘road’ once because we don’t know what’s waiting for us… First time we took 7 Casualties 2KIA 5 wounded…3 NVA KIA…. We continued on our Patrol route light 7 men…. No gun team either…3 weeks later… same Patrol Route… same funky feeling pressing your senses… All of them…If you live through a few ambushes, you might learn enough to survive your tour… Experience in Combat…You can’t buy it, nobody pins it on you….You have to walk down that road every time the order you too…. Period.

Great choice of song for your video! I really loved it!
Thank you! Love this song too! Glad you enjoyed it!
I love it too - but you ended it early. My favorite part is the instrumental at the end.@@CobraOneTwelve
So long ago. Like it happened to someone else. Rock music brings it to life.
My man cant stop dropping bangers.
Fortunately or the later generations unfortunately we had certainly had best Rocken Roll music
Great footage and good music choice 👍
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed this one! Layla is a personal favorite!
Good footage. Was there jan 69 to march of 70..r.i.p robert dec.14.1969
My dad was a vietnam vet. He never said anything about it. He said he would have to live with it
And your dad was right. I've lived with it everyday of my life for 55 years now.
Hi Brian, my das came from eastern Preußen and was 1945 in age 14. He had contact to the russians and it was terrible too. BR from Germany
No war anymoore. We have to make Love and No war... BR from Germany
@@user-hc4zv8gv8f Making love is always nice, but to stop war we have to get rid of dictators like Putin. Then the world has to get together to make sure no new ones come into power ever again.
You d rather say no war to those they start it first not to those they drafted to protection country anxd freedom.
It's good job man congratulations from France 🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷

love the video
As a Viet Nam vet I generally don’t watch these videos, I don’t need reminding. This one was ok, I didn’t get triggered or anything.
Hope you’re doing okay now:)
@@SpiritOfMontgomery PTSD well thats what they call it now Me just sitting with my black lab and getting on with life
I understand you well. My dad (born 1930) was in a simular Situation when the russians went in to eastern Preußen in January 1945 and he never want's to see his farmhouse again. The russians set him the MP on the breasth and after some days he told them " kill me now, than it's over". With 14 years....BR from Germany
100% respect to you sir, you're a noble man!

Yet another banger. Would you do a video about the Troubles in Northern Ireland?
Thank you! Definitely will consider doing a Norther Ireland video if I find sufficient footage!

yessir!
Bel sound per una guerra maledetta 👍
Good footage Cobra12.
Sad that so many of are people died and for what?
Greed...
Money. It's always money.
they died for nothing! it was a politacal war for the rich to get richer.
I'd have to ask my grandfather of 81 years (still with us) and was a medic I believe and he did say he talked to a guy that got shot in the head.
I have no words only a hopeful heart for any & all who have been there…
Banger!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
This is my favorite Clapton song, mixed with my favourite era of military..
All advantages on one side...firepower...equipment...technology...air support...but the terrain and the will to fight made the difference in the end.
Old enough to really feel it again. Whew
Perfect
These types of coments dont get replyed to so here u go

Awesome video.
Only those who were there know it was "HELL ON EARTH"
Not my dad; Army Aviation, 65-67, Hawaii trained M60 door gunner in II Corps. Loved the landscape and the people. A REMF but with a CIB. Check that ground pounders!
(I know MORE than the odd infantryman appreciated what my dad did in country. It just bothers me any other Vietnam vet would call him a REMF.)
that's putting it mildly. but thank you for your comment.
Impressive
Thank you!
We need a extend version (with the full version of Layla), for Vietnam obviously!
Soy Español, nací en 1969 y siento como si hubiera vivido esta guerra, siento como si fueran mis hermanos.
You should make an edit about the war in Afghanistan using “Something in the way” by Nirvana
thats a pretty cool idea! I do plan on making more War on terror videos so stay tuned for now!
Hell yeah man! Back in nam
@anshverma2278 You must have been a REMF to make a statement like that. Stolen any valor, have you?
I was so incredibly lucky to grow up in Europe those days - so I just had to lay back and enjoy the fantastic music coming out at that time .
The last part of this song - albeit the long version, not the one featured in this video - was the absolute best ... with Duane Allman on slide if memory serves me well .
The very moment I write this Germany & the EU are contemplating to reintroduce the draft again - to support a total corrupt regime in a war in a country far far away ... precisely like in those days of the Vietnam war ... Only to benefit that very small tiny elite owning 'our' industrial/financial military complex and their little goons in politics profiting from it .
The world has learned absolutely NOTHING ...
Peace out everyone - take care and teach your (grand-)children well❤
Seeing the shell sign reading hell is sad foreshadowing

Add the rock song Layla and suddenly the thrill of the adventure starts. Don’t think I could do it. Make Peace, Not WAR
Like the video though.
the first part of this song is a vietnam song and the second is just goodfellas

This is a completely big lie about rolling thunder. That was from b52 which carries 108 500 pounders and flew in v formation. I was 5 miles about from bombings and the ground shook. I was shocked at the ground, shaking from five miles away. You can't find the bombing runs of b52.
Oh man, all I see at the end there is Tommy getting whacked.

WHY do your videos only VERY briefly show Black American combat troops in action, despite the fact that while comprising ONLY 11% of the TOTAL U.S. POPULATION st that time, BLACK AMERICANS CONSTITUTED a FULL ONE-THIRD (33%) ALL U.S. COMBAT FORCES (about 33%) FIGHTING IN VIETNAM???
actually the black soldiers were camera shy and did not like to be photographed
Because the video is meant to look good, not to satisfy your demands for “diversity”. If the clips with black soldiers fit, they’ll be included. “Because they black” is not a reason to specifically include footage in an FMV
Actually only ten percent of combat deaths were blacks.not to say they were not always fighting like hell. I was there in 66:67
Good Song. Fucked up WAR!
