    I actually had a 2002 cr125r back when I was younger and I love it. Great bike, my only complaint is that it had a nickel plated top end so every time you had to rebuild it the top end would be all scarred up and would have to replace it each time as well. So would always cost more to rebuild it than your average 2stroke. I sold it for that reason and got a 04 rm125 at the time and man what a difference... it set lower than the cr but was way quicker plus has 6 gears unlike the cr that has only 5. And not to mention it was tough as hell and only had to replace the piston and rings when it blowed up most of the time. So was cheaper to maintain than the cr as well but I’m not hating tho. Both were amazing bikes.. 2strokes 4life! Lol

    • @KincadePavich
      @KincadePavich  Před 4 lety +1

      Interesting; I'm curious if your top ends got scored up due to improper jetting or maintenance? The cylinder on this bike was original and didn't have a scratch in it. Granted I don't know how hard it was ridden. I ride my 125s pretty damn hard, so we'll see how she's holding up when it's time for a piston. Also I've had an 02 KX125 and an 04 YZ125. I've only ridden this CR125 once so far (going again this evening!) But I actually think it's the fastest, best handling 125 I've owned. The powerband is way longer than the YZ125's and it seems like it just loves to wheelie. Very impressed so far - exceeded my expectations.

      I’m not sure tbh with you I’m no mechanic.. I mean I know I how to rebuild one and never had issues with my rm... but when I was younger I didn’t know how and my dad paid mark 4 Honda shop to always do the rebuilds and maintenance and I rode it pretty hard I even started racing it but they easily could of ripped us off... happens all the time... I just know I love the bike in general, just with what I was told and everything it was to pricey for me at the time to keep and race... but all in all they’re great bikes... just like the ones you mentioned as well. I’ve rode a lot of bikes back when I raced and my 04 rm125 was my favorite 125 by far... it was built right and I barely weighed anything so I stayed with the 250s lol. But I loved the yz250s man. Def my fav 250s...

      @tavecooper7793 Před 2 lety +1

      @@rapscallion3421 That may be true, but I wouldn’t know considering that 2002 cr125 was the oldest bike I’ve ever had. But yeah I was younger and didn’t know how to properly work on my stuff and got ripped off by a shop. They told me the reason my top end kept scoring was because of the nickel plated top end… which I later found out was a lie lol.

    How much does one of these rebuilds cost? I am looking into buying a cr 125.

    • @KincadePavich
      @KincadePavich  Před 3 lety +2

      This bike was in nice shape when I bought it and didn't need a lot of parts replaced; a lot of this build was cosmetic. So it can vary a lot. I put around $1000 into this bike after the cost of the bike itself and around $600 worth of sponsored parts. I built a YZ125 where I replaced everything and spent north of $3000 on parts. All depends on quality and what all you plan to do.

    • @KincadePavich
      @KincadePavich  Před rokem

      Unfortunately you can't. TX Race makes a restyle kit for the older models I believe, although it's pretty pricey. You can also swap some parts I think to make it work, but it's a lot of work.

It became realy abvios when I drag races a ktm 85 in a bean field and lost (not rider problem) seems to run fine starts first kick, idles fine, sounds fine but it’s just not right. Im hoping someone could help me because I couldn’t figure anything out. Thanks

    How much are rebuilds. I want to do one but scared it will break the bank.

    • @KincadePavich
      @KincadePavich  Před 3 lety +1

      It depends entirely on how much you pay for the bike, what's wrong with it, and how nice you want to make it. I bought a YZ125 for $400 and ended up in $3800 because I rebuilt literally everything and put a lot of nice parts on it. I bought this bike for $1800 and only ended up in around $2800 total since most of what I did was cosmetic. Just gotta be smart and plan it out. I generally always make a spreadsheet and price everything out before I buy it all so I know what to expect.
