I just drilled same size hole in scope cap and saved 100 bucks ...works the same flip it down for up close open for distance...

Bought my PVS-14 three years ago and have stuck with the standard gear that it came with. Now that you're digging into all this I think i'm going to do some upgrades with mine. Ever wonder why the left needs us all disarmed so badly? They must have big plans for all of us unneeded underlings so I think we need to be making plans and having up to date NV will be a HUGE advantage.
Do gun channels call each other in the evening to discuss what subject to discuss? This is the 4th video on night vision in 3 days. Nothing wrong with it I enjoyed them all. It’s like your high school girls calling each other to see what they are wearing to school the next day.

Great demo, always nice to have options. Wont work in every setup but then again what does.
Could just punch a hole through the rubber bikini cover that most likely came with the unit using a 5.56 casing as a hole punch. Save some money and still have good effect.
It's a prescription lens for far-sighted NVG's.
If you get an old school curly straw you can actually drink through that cap and focus on your truck decal in between slurps. That way u can actually get your money’s worth out of it. My 2¢
i recommend taking Greenline's Night fighter class. I learned that with enough practice you don't need a one of those quick focus thingys
I spend a lot of time going from in the hand to far for demo purposes. In several hundred reps of this I determined that it was worth $ to be able to flip a cap. It’s an admin tool, nothing more. Not for everyone.

I did something similar with a Butler Creek rifle scope flip up cap ( size 09a) and used a adjustable iris and a sacrificial lens to achieve a similar effect. I can adjust the amount of light coming in and if I nearly close it I can see my hand in front of my face. When I open it all the way up I can see as far as the eye can see in detail but not up close. I cut a notch in the side of the Butler Creek cap to have the knob for the iris on the side and I can adjust it with my finger. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has seen this DIY trick and I’m definitely not the first to do so. I got the idea from a NV group on FB. Total cost was under 40 bucks for flip up cap, adjustable iris, sacrificial lens and I ordered “cat crap” lens cleaner/anti fog paste as well all on Amazon and at mailbox in less than a week.
You can get a rubber lens cap and get a hole puncher. I believe TNVC did a video about that. Or some other night vision youtuber.
I thought about a pop open... then I watched the video busting the myths about Nods and found out light does kill your tube, so I'm never going to put an accidental opening cap on my $4,000 pvs-14.

Try To test some types of paints from local stores that can help reduce NIR signature. Some types of materials are glowing in NVG like Christmas tree !
Maybe a tips and tricks on moving with night vision? Most videos I see are of static position firing. Not sure if this is practical from video standpoint or not. No shooting even needed, just movement around real world obstacles.
The best tip and trick I have to learning movement is to go out and do it. You're going to bump into shit and probably trip but there's no real substitute, it's like learning to walk again. The only way you get better at it, is to do it.
Enjoyed the vid. Oh ,the arm ,try some calcium/magnesium powder in hot h2o will speed the healing! That kinda break would have killed a normal man !🙌🏾

It does but you'll need an illuminator

I put some think sticky back closed cell foam in my bayonet mounts and it made them way better fyi...also unpopular opinion I like my like my pvs-7 better than my 14 for a couple applications lol fight me.

When you went with the smaller aperture there was additional noise that showed up in the image.
Was that visible through the NOD or was it an effect of video editing?
The small aperture lets in less light, so the image will be darker and noisier. An IR illuminator can compensate.
