Jeez Stephen really is proud of himself that he broadcast a few shows from a small room. He's still speaking about it like he survived trekking through the Congo or a the Sahara desert alone with no food or water.

@@lauralishes1 Production team consists of many skilled people. He and his wife had to learn to manoeuvre everything and follow the crew's instructions and handle equipment. It is all pretty technical. They deserve to be proud.

The strain of working together isn’t on-camera… it’s merging work life and work stresses with personal life and personal stresses. Could you imagine having an argument over something important and then go in front of a camera and pretend like nothing’s wrong?
I enjoy Evie as well but hope for their sakes it doesn’t become a strain.
@@ibsulon - They won't have any problems. I watch Colbert every night. Nobody laughs more at his jokes than his wife. Even the jokes that normally would have had no response from an audience. I'm sure he feels the same way about her.

@@Tustin2121 oh yeah, if they take anything from A Late Show, this is 1 thing, I think the majority would agree on, sometimes the best ideas are happy accidents, and whilst covid might not be considered a "happy accident" this is one of then,
They'd be foolish not to. She should guest host every so often. That'd be amazing. Hopefully they at least bring her back for all these First Drafts in the future. An audience member is fine. Adequate even. Knowing each other so well they don't have to try and play it up. Stephen clearly desires nothing more than to make his wife happy so he always gives it a little extra when she's around.
Definitely the best thing to come out of covid was Evie's entering the spotlight. She 'gots it', as they say!
I can only agree. When she came out the first night to announce the guests for the show all I could think is she *belongs* there.

They did a sit down interview with Oprah a few years back. It was when they were home here in SC, they're from the Low Country of the State (Charleston, I think). It's a fun interview to watch. I think it was right after he became the host of The Late Night show or he could have still been on Comedy Central. Anyway, it's fun to watch them together.
Part of Evie's charm is she has NO idea how exceptional she is...

Having Evie in the house just really validates the importance of family, and how much our families make everything good possible. Love her so much, what a beautiful family, that's one of the best parts of the pandemic, seeing "celebs" with their families, and knowing it's not magic, it's family.

I was so glad and honored to be apart of this studio audience for my birthday. This show was epic and I love him and Evie. They are perfect for television.

Last year, my kids got me a card that read: "And the winner of Dad of the year is... " And inside there was a cutout of John Oliver and a handwritten "But it's an honor just to be nominated, right?"
