Yeah, it was the year 2000 not 2015 but get what you mean. Flying cars are way over due.
Guys...Back to the Future II (with the flying cars) took place in 2015, NOT 2000.
People have enough trouble driving. Flying cars would be a disaster.

@@SarahnTuned I think the vehicle should be more capable by design. Not always going to find help to be pulled out. Vehicle is sold for off road use. Then gets stuck in loose dirt. I have been stuck a couple times off road and by myself. I think the manufacture hypes a vehicle, then doesn't preform well off road.
The look on little Sarah’s face as the truck was getting stuck deeper. Priceless! Don’t drive slow in a wash.
I worked at a GM dealer and the Colorado /Canyon was in that same price range . I bought a new2014 2500 hd for $32000. It was a work truck package but had heavy duty towing , camper and plow packages . The price of compact trucks is outrageous. Great video , I enjoyed it . It sucks getting stuck. When you were pulled out did the guys say hey you are the Sarah's from CZcams. You are celebrities you know.
You'd have gotten most "off road" vehicles stuck in that position, if not all. Just as in on road driving, vehicle dynamics plays a very important role in off road driving. Momentum is your friend in loose surface driving.

I fully agree with your perspective on the manual transmissions. Offer them on upper trim levels and they will sell.
not me i don't want all that crap i want a stick shift, i want hand crank windows, it's less stuff to break.
Manuals are dead ! Most auto brands have to depend on the computer control of a highly efficient hydraulic pump over gears and a clutch ! Manuals are fun but they are an outdated mode of power transfer !
do you live in the USA? because if not, I am just gonna let you know that people here cant drive stick. so therefore it will not sell. doesnt matter which trim level lol
The Manual seems to sell well in the Tacoma, it's also available on the Frontier and the new upcoming Jeep Gladiator pickup

I think you missed the Terrain Management button (in the middle of the dial) and the electronic diff lock
And the Trail Control button towards the dash, right next to the diff lock button.

ALL driver error in the sand.
That truck with all its tech would have crawled right out of that IF the DRIVER would have USED it properly!!!
As a last resort, lower the tire pressure, too.

Ladies the first thing you should have done is to let about 15 psi out of the tires. I bet you could have driven right out. Two Sarah's for the price of one ,Oh boy.
Eric Corse I stopped at the point I started to dig myself in, it wasn’t my truck, I didn’t want to damage anything.
Yes normally that’s the practice but, you can only do it with proper off road tires because they come with reinforced sidewalls. Also, if you are to air down the tires you should be carrying an air compressor to air it back up. The size of the rims also comes to play here you don’t want anything over 17” preferably!!!
@@robertom883 trucks also have reinforced sidewalls which dont help off road...you air down and that sidewall starts to become part of the tire but in soft sand it makes little difference

The way you got stuck, and unable to get out, is the reason I'm not a huge fan of torque distribution(or vectoring for that matter) by braking. The Terrain Response system in that thing is good(some of the tech that Ford 'kept' from Land Rover back in the days of PAG) but for Sand Mode to be effective, you have to not be stuck-ish to start.
Sand mode allows wheel spin once moving, but will try to limit it from a stop, lets you keep momentum but not dig in. On Rovers this was a good system, but probably wouldn't have been any better than the Ranger where you were, on the models that didn't have a locking rear diff. It will make inexperienced drivers an advantage, but using it correctly is somewhat counter intuitive, steady throttle and let the system do it's thing while hoping it doesn't sink in more is not a comfortable place to be.
When you rely solely on brakes to apply and bias torque to the other side of the axle, you inherently need to spin first, on sand, well, you know how that ends. Glad there were people around, but if not, you would have gotten to airing down those tires and probably would have made it out ok, but that's not really the point of demonstrating a production vehicle's stock ability.

I had also cooling issues with my Audi 1.8T (A4, B5, 1998; same engine like your TT). My issue was that the wrong fluid was filled in, so first thing was the heater wasn´t working anymore, second were Motor cooling issues... a mix of wrong fluids can make your cooler (or heater) stuck. Maybe one earlier owner did the same mistake to your TT. Did you solf the problem with the new cooler? Hope so... I was able to clean my one, but it was a lot of work.

Great review, Sarah. I'm glad you gave the Ecoboost engine favorable marks. I have a Mustang and a FoRS with the same engine and really like their performance. Lil' Sarah's right; that truck would sound really cool with an exhaust. It also needs better tires and locking diffs. Keep up the great work.

Seems like no locking rear diff? Also those tires are a joke for off road traction. Does the ranger even come in XL trim? With the FX4 package.

It does have a diff lock that can be locked in 2WD, 4 High and 4 low. It also does have crawl control like the Tacoma, Ford doesn't call it that though. You can get the FX4 package in all trim levels including XL.
That was an FX4 package Ranger so it definitely has a rear locker. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear Sarah knew about that option. And when she put the frame in a twist in that wash, lifting tires and killing traction, she was done.
@@Mike-In-O-TownThats one thing I have noticed with all these reviews on the Ranger is how easliy it lifts a rear tire off the ground. One review noted that the frame on the Ranger is stiff and doesnt flex like the Toyota.
There's always the "poor man's locker" as well. Drag the parking brake a bit whilst applying power, helps slow the unloaded wheel spinning , but the loaded wheel still sees decent torque and overcomes the brake friction.

It does have a crawl control with the fx4. Did you not have the rear locker option? But totally agree that it needs a better set of tires.
Rear locker is standard on FX4 package. I'm doubting they read the manual though.
Sarah you should strongly consider trying making little Sarah a regular in all the car reviews that you do from now on, elevates the fun factor to a new level!!. And also have her talk and interact more on camera.

I was so upset that Ford stopped making the Explorer Sport Trac. I own an '07 and have been babying it until Ford produced a replacement. The Ranger is it and I'm glad to see this review. I do plan on driving on the soft sand, yearly, on the Outerbanks 4x4 beach in Corolla, NC but airing down is mandatory to prevent getting stuck, or getting unstuck. I'd love to see an air down review on the Ranger, tho...
This is what I bought (a loaded 2020 XLT, $39,000’ish) instead of waiting for a 2 door Bronco with the Sasquatch package. I wasn’t as patient as you. First change, KO2’s. Loving it.
The one thing I learned from watching trophy truck racing is when you hit silt or sand you gotta give it the beans going in and don't let up! I know you were being careful because it was a lender but keep that in mind for future adventures. I like the new Ranger but I'm also a Ford guy. Other Sarah's commentary has me rolling! Sarah Squared Shenanigans is perfect shenanigans!!
Awesome truck tho! Just bought '20 Ranger XLT FX4 crew cab..black. 1 test drive I was hooked. Refined , high tech powertrain that makes this a sports car truck! It rips. My friends '19 ZR2 has V6 an my Ranger feels much livelier & far more comfortable. This is new benchmark. Home run Ford trucks division.

It sometimes help to let air out of the tires , but of course you would want to be able to get air into them also after you gotten out of the trench. But all you need is a small 12V air kompressor so it's easy to bring.
