The guy in the Mitsubishi pulling her was’t much better. That would have been a gentle pull in 4x4 low. Instead he choose to “snatch” with a rope without elasticity. He could just as well have totalled the Polo.

The Porsche Cayenne at 3:30 dit it almost perfect if not perfect. Steady, simple bow wave, not too fast (washes water up into the air filter and you are done,,, the engine may be done too), don’t enter slow, then accelerate hard,,,,, don’t enter hard and slow downnnnn,,,,,. I have never made water crossings in vehicles so low as most of these. I have crossed water up over my needs with no problems in my old 2001 F150, 3” lift and 33 “ tires. (I changed the diff oil after, but there was no water in them.) I have been in a friend’s Jeep CJ5 with 40s that started to float. We were chest deep in a creek. Exited about 150 feet down from where we wanted to. Flash rainstorm caught us off guard. It was an easy crossing at an approved location going there in maybe 16” of water!! It was well over 40” of water when we went back. It was a stupid thing to do that we didn’t repeat.

Hi Tom ,This guy in Volkswagen is the best! Did he forget the way or decided to take a shortcut through the lake sluices? And this angry woman in the blue Fiesta? Well, it's all clear that the car got into the water and the engine stalled. But this is not a reason to vent your anger on others. She had to get out of the car, sit on the hood and meditate :)
The driver of the Gallardo had a perfect bow wave 😁. It's also a good thing the engine is in the middle.
Doesn’t really matter where the engine is, matters where the air intakes are because that’s where water getting in does the real serious off readers use snorkels on their air intakes. You can wade as deep as you like so long as the air going into the engine is above the water line. And from the looks of it the Lambo might have had some issues judging by the sound and the smoke coming out of the back. But just look at the Defender further on in the video, an off road car but no snorkel so the air intakes for the engine are still relatively low, certainly low enough in water that to deep to cause problems. If he’d have driven a bit slower and more carefully he could’ve made it through even without a snorkel, but he bombed it filled the air intakes with water, and hey presto, puffing steam out of the back!
His Gallardo was fine he just had a wet fan belt

@@dandare2586 yeah, probably some water got in through the radiator side pods and undertray, but the intakes on the V10 are up on top, so should be OK...

Every time we have lots of rain and flooding, there are always people who try to drive through the water and then kill their cars. It happens in every town and city during winter. People never learn! They have no idea how an engine operates.
I successfully drove a mk1 focus through it years ago, it had nearly 3ft of water, I'm still driving it today with no related problems whatsoever

im wondering, are they stalling because they take water in? some of them have no trouble going through, and then just stop
Water is being pulled into the intake. Most of them are losing power and on the verge of hydro locking as they get through, but momentum and remaining engine output is just enough to carry them out. By then in most cases the engine has either hydro locked and is no longer rotating while also having bent internals or the internals bent in such a way that compression has been significantly reduced so engine can still (barely) continue to run. Either way its typically going to be the death of these engines - likely needing a full rebuild or engine swap depending on owner/price.
