  • It came to my attention that some of my content had been 'reused' by another channel. I'm fine with this sort of thing if the content's approached in good faith, and analysed or criticised in intelligent, well-evidenced ways - even if the channel in question holds different political or ideological positions from me. This... was not one of those times.
Oh, and if there's any right-wing trolls who pop up in the comments - don't engage them. It's not worth it.

I feel like there are drops of juice coming out of my ear, of what once was my brain. And all after one sentence.

I don't even drink coffee and I just cannot fucking comprehend how that is abnormal? Have they never been out early from or before work and popped into a corner shop for a hot beverage to wake them up? Have they never been out shopping and gone in to get a to go cup of tea while they make their way to go idk buy some shoes or something. Have they never been studying and grabbed a coffee from town before making their way to class? Is this an american thing? that you should only be drinking coffee at home, in starbucks or in your car? @@PillarofGarbage I think the real reason people have a hard time with black female characters in sci-fi is because they don't really have them in mind when creating sci-fi. When Mad Men type companies in the 50's created billboards about the white picket fence middle class life, they never created wholesome black counterparts. Black people sometimes don't see themselves in the future either which is why Afrofuturism was created as they were constantly thinking about the past. Black males are able to sneak past because nerds acknowledge that they are physically better than them and would beat them in the physical exams to become marines and mavericks etc. However, Tyler Perry made a billion dollars and a studio, black women are now a factor in this empire since they don't want competing studios. It’s never a surprise when a Star Wars actor like Ewan gets hate for defending someone like Moses only doing her job. That’s just how the misguided portion of the fanbase operates, and rather than judge the writing through a constructive and mature lens, they target and harass individuals that “Don’t belong” in Star Wars. It’s disappointing honestly, but something expected.
Especially considering how Disney acknowledge and warn Moses Ingram what will happen because that’s how predictable most Star Wars fans have become over the years.

We went word for word. PoG is clearly biased toward his agenda. He invented a narrative about how a post showing that Moses' statement is wrong, was actually causing racist hate and bigotry. He is obviously wrong, regardless of reactions to it. But please, point to the original video where he makes a salient point not biased and not based on ideology. What was his main argument we missed?
The reason Star Wars actors get hate or negative comments is when their characters suck; it has little to do with their acting. Though people connect bad lines of dialogue with acting (e.g. Hayden Christensen.)

I always find it deplorable for youtubers, especially big ones which I've seen before drag down someone else's content to justify their own. Often when that occurs it becomes a personal attack and not attacking the content even. The whole Latte BS, when they allude your "the elite" proves precisely that. Those kinds of podcasts inevitably degrade into personal and baseless jabs and flexes. Thank you for doing what you do. I am great enjoying your channel and it makes me feel better to know that there are actual rational voices pointing out how toxic the loud part of the Star Wars fandom is. I just hope they don’t destroy Star Wars for everybody else cause at some point Disney is just going to say it’s not worth the money to make more because of the damage and danger that the actors are put through and they drive off the people that enjoy Star Wars for everything that it is. I know my roommate no longer watches any Star Wars content because she does not want to engage with the toxic assholes. She complained that in the past when she made the mistake of saying that she had seen and enjoyed one of the movies from the most recent trilogy. She then got to listen to some shit for brains harangue her about how wrong she was and that she could not have liked the movie.

Looking at this smudcast in question, a good example of your responses is to the r-word part. Where your response is "that's one way of putting it." where then it's continued to be used for a while... and somehow Amber Heard comes up. I'm not sure that point get's brought in.
That's a rather subdued response. It's not even so much as a pushback thing overall, it's a lack of confrontation about views. Not fighting about them, but a confrontational examination. Do you consider the use of the retard word netrual? Is is something you want to be accoiated with.
Never mind the optics of saying that no one gets abused that badly online as your panel has multiple people on it calling POG a "retard." Or maybe the "negro" vagina part, where one of the panelist, the same one repeating the retard slur, starts talking about how "she's the first negro vagina."

Now, do you engage with that element in the cast. No, I don't recall that you do. But you just let be said without any sort... of confrontation about even why he believes this to be so.
There's just a lack of any willing to engage with the video in question faithfully in the Smugcast. This is why some pushback is needed in those cases. It doesn't need to be from you, just that the lack of it from you in light of it not coming from anywhere else. The Smudcast is really just... one opinion of varying strength throughout the video.
      Just sometimes with slurs.
You've got a very onesided cast, with very politically charged laungague coming from a number of them. If you want to just let people speak for themselves, you need grab people that will confront each other's opinion and movitations behind those opinions. Otherwise, it'll need to come from you or people will just take that you agree with them.

Yes, she is being either dishonest, ignorant, or forgetful, which is what the collage proves.
      >Now, do you engage with that element in the cast. No, I don't recall that you do. But you just let be said without any sort... of confrontation about even why he believes this to be so.
Because PoG's hypothesis is incorrect: she is speaking literally. She actually believes this. I've proven this in a previous video.
      >There's just a lack of any willing to engage with the video in question faithfully in the Smugcast.
And now you're calling us names because...? Great moral high ground you just fell from.
PoG made a stupid video, and we called him out on being stupid. It's really that simple.
      >If you want to just let people speak for themselves, you need grab people that will confront each other's opinion and movitations behind those opinions. Otherwise, it'll need to come from you or people will just take that you agree with them.
No, that would be arguing (why, exactly?) And that does sometimes happen when someone says something incorrect. A slur or swearword is no big deal, and is merely a person expressing their confusion and frustration with the intelligence of what's happening on screen.
      >Being open to other people's opinions shouldn't mean that they're allowed to be aired uncritially. That's a important part of being open, also being critical of ideas as well.
You just explained what we did with PoG, and everyone else we cover.

They always do this "pff a movie in space with aliens? how can it be racist" and well a lot of thes "objective, facts an logic" guys just cant seem to get what metaphors are. Also on the topic of the tusken raiders: regardless of any particular inspiration (although it’s nigh indisputable that Native American depictions in westerns were one) later eu material explicitly made them stand ins for indigenous people (basically they were native to tatooine but the rekatan empire had some beef with them and turned the planet into the desert we know now forcing them to adapt, the planet was then settled leading to the dynamics we saw in ANH) go read wookiepedia or whatever if you think I’m lying. Even if you wanna say that we knew none of this in ANH it still got the seal of approval from everyone in charge of curating the eu at the time, given that the people who published the stories leading to this continuity weren’t told “no”. Even if George himself didn’t intend for them to have any real link to native Americans or indigenous people, or for it to be read that way, he still used tropes that were used in depictions of them in other media that inspired star wars and I think it’s fine to talk about it.
