In Tamil, it's called " vettiver" .we add this in a mud pot filled with water. It gives an excellent aroma & also acts as an excellent coolant.....

your "Ghangale" is beautiful !!Nobody is using these on the coolers now a days !! this Khas took me back to 1950's when we used to have "khas Tatis" on the windows and some one would water it and the air used to be SO COOL and nice smelling.unfortunately due to more buildings the area this grows has drastically reduced ,just like very cheao grapes ,but with seeds were plentiful in and near Hyderabad .."Anabeshahi " are no more .all the garden of them have been sold and developed in gated societies !! don't know if one can buy it !
