    Necessity , the Mother of invention.
    I feed sticks in from the sides for a longer burn time. Or do the Swedish candle ( limb split into quarters , upright ) for a longer burn time. Now there is a third option to go with for longer burn times when it's needed. You are right the Nano is a great stove , I had a stainless and then moved to the Titanium. The titanium is lighter but the real benefit is that it cools really quick..

    Great video..been using pellets for sometime now..I too have a backpackers French press for my tokes 900 titanium cup. Can say..enjoy a great cup of coffee. After years of pressing coffee and boat load of research never use boiling water with your grinds..no Hotter than 206° let steep for five minutes taking 20 seconds to press a Great cup of Joe. According to Anthony Douglas World Champion Barista of 2022 FYI. Most of the time if a group of us are Camping I too take the Stanley Press..in the mornings my camp area looks like a Crack shack with all my buds zombie'n too get their fix of Coffee in the mornings. Never tried Blackout coffee but ya got me think'n I should. Thanks for the great info and video.

    Great Idea,,,!!!!! I’ve used that exact mesh on several different projects,,ie,, the Firebox coal rack for the Billy Pots. My coals always had a hard time staying within the single wire frame. I wired the mesh around the perimeter,, cupped upward,,: thus holding the coals on Top of the Pot. Great Video,,,, Joshua

    Great idea for the pellet tray.
    I will use an off cut of EML (expanded metal lath) from work. That's stainless steel so a bit heavier but will do the job perfectly. I guess if you needed a longer burn without having to top up one could cut pieces of EML to cover the feed holes.

    If you can find the Stanley 3 piece canister set that has 3 different size SS canisters with awesome lids... the smallest one nestles into the stanley french press PERFECTLY...excellent weigh to bring coffee but you could fit a couple 3oz refills of pellets for the Nano in it I bet!

    Now that’s what I call a grate idea.🤡
    I tested out my titanium nano for the first time a few days ago and I found some really hard red coloured wood here in Australia which I have yet to identify but boy was it hard, any way I had a piece which was the perfect size to make a Swedish fire torch and I attempted to boil a nearly full pathfinder kettle, it almost boiled and would have been hot enough for a coffee. I suppose it didn’t burn vigorously enough because It was a Swedish fire torch with this really Hard wood. I’m still impressed with it because It burnt well enough to cook on for at least half an hour without having to add any more fuel. My next test will be with the same wood processed in the normal way to see if it will burn vigorously enough to boil the path finder kettle.

    • @greatamericansurvival
      @greatamericansurvival  Před 3 lety +1

      That’s awesome. I’ve really enjoyed mine and often use a Swedish torch in my bigger units. I came across some wood last summer it was so hard I couldn’t get it to burn. Had to start the fire with other wood then added it after it was burning well. Love Australia haven’t been back since the 90’s though. Celebrating 25 years of marriage in two years and that our planned trip.

      @@greatamericansurvival I hope you have a good trip when you come out, it’s pretty safe and comfortable to camp here in NSW where I am especially in spring and autumn but even Summer is ok as well once you go inland as the low humidity makes it more bearable though you have to make sure you’re not in a high risk bush fire area.
