- Today I install a windscreen, made by Puig, on my Kawasaki Vulcan S 650 SE ABS.
Then we will take a ride to test the new windscreen, I chose the Puig Touring Windscreen because it is the larger of 3 sizes available for this motorcycle. And this suits my intended use.
Puig windscreen $144.85 USD. Kawasaki charges $639.00 & $839.00 respectfully for their versions of a similar windscreen.
SoI saved over $494.00 to $694.00 over buying the Kawasaki OEM windscreens, depending on if it was a fixed or quick release system. That my friends is a lot of money.
So how does it perform? Come watch, take a ride with me, and we will find out together.
I have ridden Motorcycles for 50 years now, and I am honest about the bike so far. Of course with my past experience in riding this is a great bike for experienced riders that like a sporty crusier and enjoy the wonderful World of 650 class bikes.
The Vulcan S has ample power, and it is not a bike most riders would want to change out anytime soon. And as such it could fit the needs of both experienced and a newer rider. However I do not recommend or endorse that anyone ride a motorcycle, but if you are new I feel it's essential that you first complete an approved Safety Course.
Thank you for watching, please hit the thumbs up, and while you are at it please subscribe. I appeciate you! - Auta a dopravní prostředky
So helpful. Thank you.
Thank you! This is a very good how-to. I'm saving this for when I actually received my windscreen.
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. The windscreen is such a great improvement and value priced compared to the Kawasaki version. As with any windscreen make sure to pre-hydrate any big splatters and wipe gently with plain water using microfiber cloths. Mine still looks new!
That was great! Thanks for sharing!
You are so welcome. But I also appreciate you watching my video, and commenting.
I just bought this puig for my vulcan S. Love the video. It really helped me out.
That makes me really happy! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. This is why I make videos like this, and good to know it's appreciated. Enjoy your bike and new windscreen.
Great video, thanks!
You're welcome, but I thank you for watching and Chiming in! Enjoy your ride!
Love my Vulcan S, but really want a windscreen to mitigate the winds at highway speed. Thanks for the post, I'm sold!
Enjoy it! I really enjoy mine! Now that I've had it for a while I love it even more. Ride safe but always have fun riding!
it's 23:33 here now and did just see. you put up a new video. Nice 😀
it's 17:08 here, and the video has been up maybe 1/2-3/4 of an hour. Thank you for watching. It appears you are always the first to see my new videos! :) As Always, thank you!
@@frdbecker You are very welcome. and again thank's for the upload 🙂
Just ordered one now! I do food delivery on mine for roughly 6 hours a day and it was wearing me out having all that wind on me!
I think you'll love it. Aforable too!
Wind at the helmet would be fine with me and beats getting it on the neck. I might try one.
It also mostly stops bug gut removal from your riding jacket and face shield. Not to mention road debris kicked up from automobile tires on the highway!
I add windscreens to every bike that accepts one.
Thanks for checking in!
Great video, thanks, you mentioned you bought the touring model and that it was the largest you could buy.I’m curious just what the height of windshield is,I’m 5feet 8 inches, would I be able to see over top of the one you bought?
Thank you for the comment and inquiry. I'd have to take a physical measurement which I can't do at the moment because I'm not near the bike right now. I am 5 ft 11 in tall and can see over mine.
well that install took a while. I noticed too that while you're riding it's crooked. it's much closer on the left hand side
The camera is on the left side, optical illusion. LOL. Was using a sena tube.
Hi Fred,
What would happend if you screw to hard back the bolts in, as you were mentioning that is aluming body.
I don't have nothing to measure the torque preasure.
Also is there any risk when unbolting these screws that could damage the suspension?
Thanks for your videos!
One method people use is before loosening the bolts, slightly tighten them so you know the feel of what the factory installed them at.
If you have a Harbor Freight store near you, or check them out online, they often have a sale on their torque wrenches. I think I have seen them on sale for under $15.00 US quite often. Well worth it.
How Tall are you? Does the windshield perform well in highways?
I am just shy of 6 feet tall, fair to say 5' 11". (180.34 - 182.88 cm). It is as good on highways as one could expect. Wind does hit the top of the helmet but most screens do that. It keeps wind off the chest as it should. A lot of screens cause an upward draft that causes much turbulence. I don't notice any of that with this windscreen. Overall the looks and fit are great. The install very easy. The effect at wind deflection is very good. Price here in the USA is superior. I'll have to say I am extremely happy with my purchase.
where did you purchased it?
I was actually able to purchase mine through Amazon. RevZilla and cycle gear which are owned by the same corporation both carry. Windscreens also.
Fred, any order codes please? thx.
This is the Amazon link to where I purchased the Puig windscreen on my Vulcan S.
