  • Today I install an Exhaust System, made by Delkevic, on my Kawasaki Vulcan S 650 SE ABS. In case no one told you there are no Slip-on Silencers for the Vulcan S, you must install a full system on this Motorcycle.
    Then we will take a look at a drive-by sound check, of both the stock exhaust system, and the newly installed Delkevic Exhaust System.
    I chose the Delkevic Exhaust because it was reasonably priced at $425.00 US, and made in the UK. Plus it is easy to obtain, install, and sounded good on videos I researched.
    This Exhaust is available in Chrome finish like I purchased, or in a Black Ceramic finish for a couple hundred dollars more. I did not want chipping Ceramic finish in case I get rocks and such hitting the exhaust in use. Plus Chrome will accent my Ride nicely.
    You will want to check out the facts and summery section at the end of my video to get all the yummy specs and how I feel about owning this Exhaust System after riding with it. You will find out if I think this Exhaust System is suitable for everyone, or not.
    The Vulcan S has ample power, and it is not a bike most riders would want to change out anytime soon. And as such it could fit the needs of both experienced and a newer rider. However I do not recommend or endorse that anyone ride a motorcycle, but if you are new I feel it's essential that you first complete an approved Safety Course.
    Thank you for watching, please hit the thumbs up, and while you are at it please subscribe. I appeciate you!

    Thank you very much for the metric system. here in Germany it has to have a DB-Killer and catalyst to be street legal 😞
    but it really sounds good. 😀

      The laws are similar here. Funny thing is that video is with the DB- Killer in place. Some States in the USA are a bit more laid back on enforcement issues. Shhhh........ 😂😅

      @@WilliamAndrewPhilipBodie I think that is similar Internationally. That is why our motorcycles come with conforming exhaust. The manufacturers spend a ton designing exhaust that meets standards, yet provides almost maximum performance. This is why upgraded exhaust alone doesn't provide huge gains in performance.
      The Harley Davidson riders in the USA are known to have very loud pipes. It's like their right of passage. (American slang). That is probably why loud pipes don't get much bad attention most of the time.

      @@frdbecker many bikers cheat here. every 2 years there is a TÜV "German Association for Technical Inspection" so they change back to Org exhaust before that. 🤣

      @@WilliamAndrewPhilipBodie I always keep all my stock parts. Seats, bolts, exhaust...... 😉 I got a ticket in California back in like 1977, because I was running a twin uncorked, under an overpass, when a CHP Officer was nearby. I had to trade a header system for someone's stock exhaust to get through an inspection. That was a pain.

    Hello. I'm just about to buy the same exhaust. I expect it will be louder but how loud compared to your standard Harley Davidson? Is it about the same or even more loud?

    • @frdbecker
      @frdbecker  Před rokem +2

      I'd say with the baffles installed your the same or a little louder than a stock Harley Davidson. With the baffles out it's a lot louder than a Harley Davidson.
      A modified Harley Davidson will be unique and sometimes extremely loud.
      Different sized pistons and stroke, it will be unique to the character of its components.
      Either way it's a much more pleasant ride. Of my nine different motorcycles this one I prefer to leave the baffles in. But they're easy to take back out anytime I want a little change of pace.

    • @frdbecker
      @frdbecker  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes it should. There appears to be no change to engine, frame, or mounting lugs. In fact I was waiting for my favorite Dealership to get in the new 2022 Vulcans when I found a super sweet deal on my personal ride elsewhere.

    Would you still install this exhaust if you knew how loud it was ?
    I'm thinking if arrow or csracing would be a better choice , maybe a bit quieter , but they are more expensive

    • @frdbecker
      @frdbecker  Před 11 měsíci +1

      I have to admit some people really love the loudest pipes they can get. I also understand the draw to this. My huge regret is that I can't hear my Sena when the pipes are on the bike. That alone can be a deal-breaker. So I buy a few extra gaskets so I can switch it out rather quickly when I feel the urge. I do this on other bikes especially when they're just just slip-on's. Changing back and forth gives a little extra new thrill to the riding experience.
      One thing I won't do is try a different system unless I sell this one. At this point I'm pretty happy with my other overall modifications on the bike.
      One last upgrade I'm going to do is add auxiliary LED Halo lights up front (and they are not the OEM from Kawi).

      Can maybe pull the baffles and wrap with some fiberglass packing, should keep the sound.. just a bit quieter

      @frdbecker  Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@chrisjones9945 I never tried it. Figured on a full system that's pretty much what you're going to get. The great answer might come from a local muffler shop I would hate for you to cause too much restriction and hurt the engine. The pipes get pretty darn hot near the exhaust ports as it is.

      So to be honest I ordered this on eBay here in the USA, from a seller in India. eBay doesn't show my purchase history that far back. FedEx shipping brought it to my door well under a week. Just made sure it was the chrome finish so it looks very similar to factory exhaust.

    Hi, did you have to tune/flash, get a power commander, or a booster plug?

    • @frdbecker
      @frdbecker  Před 2 měsíci +2

      No I didn't. I upgraded the air filter, and the slip-on pipes. You may find it interesting that modern ECU's are self learning, so that the fuel mixture and timing adjust for changing environments.
      After all bikes are sold all over the World, and climate, altitude, etc are different everywhere.
      I do believe if you find my video on the install of exhaust on my Royal Enfield 650, I probably explained how to 'brake-in' the new pipes. It is a process of riding each gear nice and smooth, slow to higher rpm, and coasting to a stop without using the brakes (long straight roads, with little traffic help). The process is gear 1 only, then gear 1 to 2, increase to high RPM, slowly, coast, 1-2-3, repeat, etc.
      The whole process takes 15-20 minutes. And when you're done there is no issues with backfiring, popping on deceleration, etc. The bike rides like this was factory installed.
      I love it!
      Ride safe! 😁

      I put the same exhaust on my vulcan s after riding it for 2 days lol. It rides great! The majority of the weight is dead center under the bike on the stock exhaust so it didn't change the riding too much. Although, my first 2 days on the bike were my first 2 days riding in general and did about 200 miles. I've done over 800 more since then and it's been a blast! Love the bike and love the exhaust!

  • @tomsreviews238

    Exhaust upgrade only with no modification to the air intake makes for a sloppy running engine. Bikes always seem faster when they make more noise. Most bikes loose power when modifications are done halfway.

    • @frdbecker
      @frdbecker  Před 8 měsíci

      Thank you for the comment. By the way I upgraded to the K&B air filter upgrade before the pipe edition addition.
      Currently because I could not hear my Sena device with this pipe on the bike I went back to the factory exhaust. I'm a firm believer that engineers at a place like Kawasaki get the most performance they can out of their stock exhaust systems while controlling the noise level.
      The cool thing is for no more than a couple copper squish washers I can switch back and forth anytime I feel the need.
