    Hey mate great vid, never heard of this booster plug thing before this video and am interested yet slightly confused, so it tricks the sensor into dumping in more fuel because it detects a lower engine temperature therefore more fuel for power, I wanna know if that would damage the engine because of the higher amount of fuel being added with the engine reading cooler?
    Also isn’t the power commander more for “re-tuning” the bike because of modifications made to the exhaust system e.g TBR full system + DNA air filter and the power commander adjusts to the new air to fuel ratio? I don’t think it was intended to solve the issues you mentioned with it being a bit more jumpy in second and first gear, I’ve recently purchased a brand new Vulcan also and haven’t noticed that yet but will take note of it next time, might be a bit different for us in Aus since we are forced to have the restricted version (35kw + 45hp vs 45kw + 55hp)
    And did you drill holes in the muffler to make it louder?
    Sorry for the barrage of questions 😅😂 just curious

      Wadie _ Great questions! I don't know if I can answer them all with accuracy as I am learning myself. A lot of your questions can be accurately answered on a great forum like Vulcanforums.com in the 650 section. From what I have read, it is completely safe and your ecu actually relearns and adapts.
      I did drill holes in my exhaust. Its louder but not with the deep growl we'd all like to have.
      The power commander is a dyno tool that you either buy maps or reflashes for it or tune it yourself and hope you don't screw something up. BoosterPlug is plug and play as you can see! It has a good positive history with other bikes as well. And its only $160 usd, so thats a huge savings over Power Comander.
      Hope this helps and thanks for reaching out!!

      The booster plug makes MINOR fuel adjustments. I don't see how "dumping more fuel" is implied. You'd get the same results from a Power Commander V tuned to adjust the air/fuel mix at lower RPM, but didn't pay $350!

    Hey JB thanks for posting this video! I installed mine yesterday and I test rode it today. The difference is awesome! However shortly after riding I started hearing a rattling sound somewhere under the tank whenever I accelerated, I'm thinking something might be loose since I had a hard time figuring out where to attach the new cables of the booster plug. I was trying to see where you attached yours but it's hard to see the location in the video. I'll be taking the tank off again tomorrow to find the source of the rattle.

    installed mine today (after the first 500 miles), didn't notice much of a difference to be honest, not had much of a problem of engine breaking but my vulcan came with the arrow exhaust from new, still pops a bit when releasing the throttle around 4-5k rpm, will see once I take the bike out a couple more times, but 20 miles today and it feels that any improvement is just placebo

    • @JBsGarageHowTo
      @JBsGarageHowTo  Před 6 lety

      Mihai Oltean it gets better as you put more time on it! The ECU learns and you fuel consumption will keep getting better. A few weeks ago I was at 42.2 mpg now I'm averaging 44.6.

    • @JBsGarageHowTo

      @VTX88 It will Greatly reduce that bucking. It is actually amazing how well it corrects the problem. I have no affiliation with BoosterPlug. I bought mine the same as others. One other thing you can try first is adjusting your push pull cables of your throttle. The pull adjustment is on the back of the throttle grip and the pull adjustment is on the right side of the engine just below the tank. If you have the manual that should of come with the bike, it will reference it in there as well. Also check out Vulcanforums.com. You can friend request me by the name of VulcanJoe.
