This is a demonstration of "Organic Real Jazz" ballad a la Ben Webster with impeccable tonal quality and control as well as phrasing.
Branford's extemporisation is contextually and harmonically relevant to the melody of the tune itself - a 5-out-of- 5 credit.
That the late masters would have magnanimously been proud of him is irrefutably certain.

Right , the man is a class act . Coolest sax player of the 80s or maybe any era ? I remember buying each lp as they came out and was blown away every time . The 1989 trio with Milt Hinton!
