And here I thought Takeda, Ermac and Quan Chi had the best, most gruesome fatalities in MKX. Or Kung Lao and Noob in MK9. But no man, that Kano fatality is just beyond comprehension. I'm in awe, that was so shocking.

OhioStateKicks Damn right. DC had a problem with the idea of their heroes getting mutilated, I imagine. Probably wanted to make it so kids could buy it too. Which is kind of stupid since their characters have been mutilated in all kinds of ways in the comics

AgentZombieMan In terms of the franchise, this game had the best gameplay when compared to the other 3D mortal kombats. Until MK9 came out, that is, but I don't really consider MK9 or MK4 to be 3D MK games.
dragonxking24 I dunno, the story try to emulate a cartoon of the 90's, if ou see it that way, the game wasn't so bad, they couldn't take decisions about the DC characters and that make one hard job to make look good one MK game.

one thing i can give boon is he learns from previous mistakes.
he realized that this game was pure shit, but he still believed in it so much that he made injustice happen after mk9.
now had it been an injustice and mkx crossover,that might be kinda nice. MIGHT be.

Don't tell me what I did and didn't play. I've gone through the story mode for this game myself, and it's not all that great. Though I am a fan of some of the heroic brutalities they gave some of the DC heroes, even though plenty would actually kill a normal human. Like getting pounded into the ground like a nail.
That's a waste of money. Sell it next time, or donate it to charity.

This might've been the game no one wanted, but at the time it did quite well at retail and in rental stores. It's also significant for a number of other reasons: , it is the first Mortal Kombat game to use Unreal Engine 3, which they've used ever since and, more importantly, it hooked them up with Warner Bros/DC. Remember, Midway went bankrupt not long after this game's release despite its success and Warner bought the franchise and the studio. Hate it if you must, but it is a very important game in Mortal Kombat history, on and off-screen. We likely don't get to Injustice and MK 11 without this game.

Yeah..its very interesting.. MK doesn't really have many like.. specific themes. You know how Street Fighter, and even Marvel has character themes. But Mortal Kombat.. only stage themes I suppose. You might recognize a few themes from MK2 or UMK3 but that's about it. Although, I guess it makes sense for MK to only really have stage themes considering that most of the stories of most of the games take place in the same areas. Outworld, Soul Tombs, Shaolin Temples, etc.
Skrillex made a theme for Reptile it was badass
Deception Sub-Zero was amazing.

MK4, MKDA, MK v DC... the only 3 mortal kombat games I ever played growing up and I enjoyed the hell out of them. It’d be fun going back and playing deception or something but those 3 are always gonna be my nostalgia games. MK4 was actually THE first game I ever played

I'm really happy to see Tanya in MKX. I think her overall design looks great, but if you watch the DLC reveal trailer, you can see she is still being worked on. Her stomach clearly shows that she is still being worked on.
The Sega CD version of _Mortal Kombat_ uses a remix of the theme from the movie for its intro. It's not anywhere near as hype as the original version (at least to me), but it is proof that Acclaim utilized the theme in some way.

Honestly MK is one of those franchises that's very hard to do a crossover with. Most other prominent fighting games don't kill their characters or at least not like MK does. I think the best you're really going to get is the horror/sci-fi guest characters you're getting right now.

Uh. Nerd here. They didn't invent the suit for fighting games, Lex has had a big green power suit a bunch of times. Mainly when the CEO thing isn't working out and he's back to mad scientist or whatever. It makes sense, Lex wants to beat superman himself, so he builds a suit that lets him do that.

Mortal Kombat fits in well with the DC lore, I'd like to see an injustice vs mortal kombat they could probably do a good job if they followed the formula they used for injustice 2
With Marvel v Capcom, the two settings had the same sort of mood, so the crossover feels a lot smoother. I get the feeling they were trying to emulate it here, but the moods of the two universes are a worse fit. But this game did give us Injustice, so I can't hate it. :)

I think another fun way they could do Fatalities is if they implemented a combo system similar to Killer Instinct but where doing an "Ultra" will earn you a particular Fatality depending on which specific ground based Ender you use, like as long as you don't knock the opponent into the air with the Ender you'll get a Fatality. I'd like to see a fighting game that tries it that way.
Terry Jones I don't know if this was exactly what you meant, but MKX has Brutalities, which are special kill animations that play if you beat your opponent with certain moves.

I'm not going to lie, when I was in Middle School and this was first announced and I saw the first promotional trailer for it, I was greatly confident that it was going to be a good game, I mean on paper it generally sounds like a pretty cool crossover, but then seeing this as it's result you start to realize the only way it would really work is if they go all the way with mortal Kombat and less Super hero justice 😅
