So, don't worry about laughing at Hsu Hao. Ed Boon hates him too. As proof, back when the MKX roster wasn't reveal, every time asked Ed "Is X gonna be in it?", he'd answer "Maybe… it's possible, we'll see". But if you asked if Hsu Hao would be back, he'd simply answer "Fuck no"

PureMetalDragon Oh yeah I remember reading that. Even back for MK Armaggedon if you look up Hsu Hao's bio video people are talking about how they hated him, and only felt obligated to bring him back even though they didn't want to.

If I recall correctly, Boon has stated on record that he detests Hsu Hao. I believe this is why he's unceremoniously killed offscreen in MKX's comic.
To be honest Dharmin has potential to be absolutely terrifying with a few touchups and graphics that don't suck chode.

27:08 The "Mortal Kombat!" scream (and the infamous song) actually didn't originate from the movie. That song was made just mere months after the release of the first arcade game, which would be about 3 years before the movie. The song (actually called "Mortal Kombat Techno Syndrome", by the way) was released as a stand-alone single in the Netherlands in 1992, and would make it's way to the rest of the world throughout 1993.
Even if you didn't know all of that, the song was also featured in the Sega CD version of MK1 (and also used in the commercials for the home version of MK1) which again would still be before the first movie.

Jared Sewai It's better than the weird half-human with a mask that's not really a mask thing they tried to do with the game before this. But I'd still say this is pretty bad.... Just the dumb giant spikes and the nomad-like outfit and that face...... It's all just not a design for an MK game and none of this stuff even remotely seems to fit together, you know?

Apparently Kerri Hoskins not only played Sonya in MK3, but did the motion capture and voice of Sonya in MK4 and the mocap and voice of Maya for KI season 2. My mind is blown

I know that Pit-Fighter came out about two years before MK 1, and that game used digitized actors. So MK is not the first, but I couldn't tell you which game is.

Chris Bellevue that was never the statement, they said the first to used digitized actors and they did, which was pit fighter, which was a cheap double dragon game using HP dots that get ate up VERY fast and you could NOT win with one credit. Although secrets like hitting the enemy into the crowd was very creative. Anyways whocares the MK team sold out and turned the game into a tekken clone

Actually I loved this game. This was Netherrealm attempt into true 3D and it worked. Can remember guys (and ladies) hurrying home to play this game. And it definitely was a hit at social parties. MK has always pushed the boundaries with mostly success in their evolution of fighting games, and this was no exception, This also started the road to what is now MKX (three different styles).

Johnny Cage's multiple head's fatality wasn't just in MKII. It was also a glitch in MK1. I know.. I've performed it on many an occasion myself.
Crab technique was likely copped from an old fu flick called "Mission Kiss and Kill". Find it and check the boss at the end, played by "Evil Betty" Lung Fei.

Yes, and the best Ps2 MK probably is Deception, never played DA but Deception is in general more polished, with more characters and better designs in general, the hara kiris, and a couple of fun extra modes like puzzle fighters and mortal chest, Armageddon is just sad, it´s kind of fun sometimes, but most of the characters are just bad or copies of each others, the plot it´s not just bad but it´s also unfinished, it has the worst fatalities in the series, and in general lost a lot of features from DA and Deception, honestly for me it´s worst than MK vs DC.

AtomicLizard If you're saying Reptile used to be a green Scorpion then you're wrong because he was the combination of Sub Zero and Scorpion (Blue and yellow make green). Also his MKX costume looks pretty damn cool.
Wolf Moon Specifically, the head is way too lizard-like without anything interesting going on, the spikes are WAY too big and just look impractical and goofy since they'd limit his back movement, the nomad berzerker cave person outfit is just all kinds of "why" and makes him just look dumb instead of dangerous, and then there's the Crab Stance.... I don't know how the Motion Capture guy managed to do those moves without saying "Doesn't this look just a BIT too much like I'm wanking someone off???"
There's worse Reptiles, but this is definitely in the top 2-3.

***** Because Hsu Hao's looks, hat, etc.He is Ed Boon's least favorite character with Scorpion being his most loved. He also hates Drahmin because he stated it's difficult to animate his arm club in 3D, It was tough to animate his arm and mask were pretty much pasted onto the body of the character.
