Deception was definitely my favorite of the trilogy of this console generation. I spent so much time playing Konquest, and trying to unlock everything in the Krypt.
Also, I had a feeling their first opponent in Arcade would be Sindel, and that she do a Hara Kiri. It happened to me a lot 😂.
Man, took me 4 months to unlocked everything... Until finding Liu Kang chest in Edenia is too fucking hard.
@@helmiboboy Unfortunately, I don't think I ever unlocked everything. I believe I got lucky with some items though. I would love to back to my old save file, I think I still have the hard drive from my Xbox somewhere.
I really liked Deception. Brought back old 2D characters with cool new 3D models. Puzzle and Chess Kombat was actually pretty fun once you got bored with fighting.

I just got the PS2 awhile back, I got all the Kharacters, costumes in 2 days, arenas too. Something I never did back in the day. I even got everything in Armageddon which I'm proud of. MK Deception the best 3D era MK game hands down.
Reminder that the reason why Li Mei is in this game despite being killed by Shang Tsung in Deadly Alliance is because Onaga took a look at her in the Soulnado and was like "Hmhm, I want me a piece of that", and brought her back to life as his concubine.

Eh I prefer Armageddon's conquest mode more because it plays very similar to Shoulin Monks but shorter. Deception's conquest mode feels like a "Fetch quest" to me but I love the fight challanges they have and the exploration of the realms.

He was great. Mk9 and 10 ruined him. One cam hope 11 brings him back.

I thought it was cool they killed the main protagonist in DA and then in D you find him undead in a graveyard.
I remember I didn't unlock Liu Kang yet and played konquest. When I got to fight him that shit shocked me. Lol
I actually liked Onaga as a character. He's the only dragon in a game who's logo is literally a dragon. And he provided some lore to the realms of Mortal Kombat because for such a varied multiverse, there's a significant lack of any lore beyond "Everyone gathers to fight for some reason."

Deception and Armageddon were the pinnacle of the MK series for me. So much content to do, both in terms of fighting and other shit. They were both just fun games that did not take themselves very seriously. Stuff like chest, tetris, and even fucking cart racing just gave you so much to do that I always found my way to playing the games, even if I did not feel like fighting at the time. While 9 was a good return to form, it just did not have a lot of content and X was just as bad. I fear 11 will also be void of a lot of content and will have to wait for dlc.
Oh, and Jade that the best look in Deception. Both her normal and alt costumes are GODLIKE!
I liked Zombie Liu Kang better than the Revenant version in MKX
The Revenants are kind of boring to me. They did virtually nothing with them in X despite them suppose to being an important part of the universe going forward from 9.
TyranusRex721 it seems to me they were put in to serve more as enemy variety in the game's story of X. I didn't think they were bad in 9 though because they were just used as sort of boss rush for Raiden and reminder of his failures,.
@@TyranusRex721 Netherrealm recognized the uselesssness of revenant Liu Kang in Mk11. You will see what happens to him in the end of the story mode.
I just don't know why the doods shat on zombie Liu Kang so hard, it's a bad ass Liu Kang that didn't give a single fuck that rose from the dead to beat all and every ass. Revenant was just mehhhh even in initial reveal.

THIS STILL MIGHT BE THE BEST MORTAL KOMBAT GAME OF ALL TIME! The amount of content is fantastic. The ONLY bad thing in this game was that the new characters weren't very good, but everything else was perfect. It's between Deception and MK9 for me. Deception had a great story with a huge konquest mode, awesome chess and puzzle kombat, stage fatalities, cool classic characters like NOOB Smoke, and the krypt. It's a near perfect MK game, and I put too many hours into it back in the day.

That was such a big missed opportunity. He even used them in armageddon's intro, but nowhere else.
Out of the three mainline MK games from this era, Deception was definitely the peak one. I've forgotten all the stuff they put into this one.

Despite these games looking janky now. At the time, they were fantastic, at least Deadly Alliance and Deception.
Deception's story mode was ambitious to say the least, and genuinely fun to explore, alongside giving you more and more reason to like Shujinko who was a character in a series bereft of any real characterization up to that point. Idk, I've got a soft spot for this game and all its wacky ideas.
Fun fact there was other characters that was scrapped in puzzle kombat like hotaru , ermac there in the loading screen but never playable for puzzle kombat

This was definitely the best 3d mortal Kombat game in my opinion,it improved on what deadly alliance introduced, and it made the universe of Mortal Kombat much more intriguing. The only bad thing about this game are two of the laziest and worst characters in mortal Kombat history,kobra and darrius.
I'd take both of those guys over Dairou.
Wannabe_Baby Dairou does suck, I don't care for him either, but he gets points from me for not being a rip off of ken masters or blade. Honestly, the only character introduced in this game that was any good was onaga

Sharing a similar design to Ken didn't make me think Kobra was a rip off of him. I thought Kobra was meant to be an evil counterpart to Liu Kang. Both martial artists but they're a contrast to each other.
I haven't thought of Blade once when seeing Darrius in this game. What do they have in common? They're both black men who wear sunglasses? I guess he's a Morpheus rip off too.

And the reason I called darrius a blade ripoff is because he gave off a Wesley Snipes vibe to me, but that's just me. I think him and kobra were just thrown in to make up the numbers for the game. If you like those characters, I don't mean to insult you, I just think they're bad mortal Kombat characters

Noob-Smoke was fantastic in this. Probably one of the best reinventions of Kharacters in all MK.
I never understood the hate for this game. This instantly became my favorite MK when I played it.

Really amazing game. Mileena, Kenshi, Ermac, Jade, Liu shine here. Ashrah and Havik are awesome newcomers. Onaga is a very cool and creepy boss. The Konquest mode, Hara-Kiris, Chess and Puzzle kombats were fantastic features
I loved the konquest mode. If you showed up at certain places, at certain times, characters would appear. I remember you could find Kang rising from his tomb at a certain time/day.

I loved the Konquest mode in this game.
There's no shame in viewing the command list and practicing before you go into Arcade, Steeb.
It's too bad that was never a thing in the original games on snes and genesis.
You know what's crazy about Mortal Kombat Deception? It didn't even have my favorite character Sonya but it was my favorite MK before MK 9 came out. Loved this game so much back then and still today! Goes to show that you don't need to rely on one character to enjoy the game (it's just that much better if you have them)

Hear me out here, Zombie Lui-Kang was dope for the fact that he had those awesome chains around his arms (how the fuck they got there, no one will know). Not only that, but you technically can't even kill him unless you fatalize him. Zombie Lui-Kang is the best mistake that came from MK Deception, and he is what Drahmin should've been from the beginning.
This is my favorite Mortal Kombat of that generation. The puzzle and Chess Kombat were amazing

I actually tested MK Deceptions back when Midway was still around. Holy crap did that suck. Puzzle Kombat is a very under appreciated mode. It's up there with Puzzle Fighter IMO.
