I think Pels usually play a lil bigger but 2nd half against the Hawks I feel like Nance was probably matching up better with the hawks bigs just because the hawks run smaller line ups but playoffs will be interesting to see the big and small lineup for Pels come playoffs
Next season the Pels definitely need to upgrade at center. A Jarrett Allen type would be near perfect.

I very much respect the knowledge of these two guys,they are among the best ones at breaking down basketball teams,players,plays, everything... But,in my humble opinion,as far as this season goes, Lu Dort and KCP deserve all defense spot more than some guys,I would probably replace Jrue Holiday and Shai with those two.I respect the fact that Shai is leading the league in steals,but Lu Dort's matchups are way harder than Shai's and I don't remember that many games in which somebody scored at a great volume and efficiency when guarded by Dort.Similar to that, without KCP,elite guards would cook the Nuggets but that hasn't been the case,his ball pressure,screen navigation and effort on that end of the floor are one of the most important factors that make Nuggets defense pretty good relative to the expectations.Jrue is Jrue of course,there is an argument for him basically every year to make all defensive team,but also Jrue's teammates are basically all good to great defenders so I think KCP and Dort are doing as good a job(if not better) as Jrue while having tougher circumstances and more responsibility.
No offense to Nekias but Steve Jones really got some great rhetorical jabs in during the defensive team discussion. Also with respect I would have elevated KCP myself but I'm probably biased as they're the home team.
It’s a mixture of stats and eye test.
Some people use eye test first and then look for stats to support it and then others go stats first and then use eye test for support.
Steve’s argument is way more stat centric but Nekias take on defensive team is way more conceptual but stat supported. Neither take is wrong it’s just contrasting approaches.

Likewise! Still trying to find the balance of how many we can actually include without running into #CZcams #Issues lol. Right now, we try to make sure we have clips for the specific plays that Steve or I reference + a couple more if we're talking about a specific concept.
Once we learn the actual limit, we'll be able to toss in more for y'all.

Every time I think the pels are going to take off, they lose a bunch of games. They just seem inconsistent.

Respectfully, I feel like Shai making all defense over Lu is pretty heavy star player bias. Yes, Shai leads the league in steals, which is amazing and his defense is very good compared to other elite offensive players. But for a while now, Lu has been specifically named as a lot of players’ least favorite matchup. He locks down a lot of players who would otherwise cook the Thunder and I really think he doesn’t get the respect that he deserves defensively
The Magic's shooting issues are due to Paolo and Franz not being good shooters. All guys around them are great shooters.
I would push back on the "all" and "great" portion of that, honestly. They do have some solid spot-up options around them, and it's encouraging to see Jalen Suggs in particular shoot like this. The larger issue from my viewing is that, even despite some of the percentages, they don't have a lot of guys that teams aren't comfortable helping way off of.

When is Zion going to become a beast on the boards? He barely rebounds.
He hasn’t rebounded or defended since Duke, which coincidentally was when he was in the best shape of his young basketball career
He runs out in transition and has Jonas to help rebound. He still averages over 1.5 offensive rebounds.

5:31 Wow Pels would be 4th seed in the East big difference. Such a huge difference. The bottom of the east is bad but 1 through 8 east and west is pretty even. Knicks Cavs & Sixers get healthy it's a very intriguing playoffs.
The East teams get to beat up on the Hawks, Nets, Raptors, Hornets, Pistons, Wizards for 3 and 4 games. The 37-28 Mavericks would be the 4 seed in the East, even with all of their injuries.
@@aarondeatherage7678The Mavs were just beaten twice by the Pacers. They would not be a fourth seed in the East. They would have had to play a healthy Knicks and Sixers before they had a semblance of a frontcourt.
If the Pels got to play shitty East teams 3/4 times a year, they’d prolly have a better record than the Bucks
@@johncraig4820 funny they beat the healthy Knicks without Luka and the Luka/Kyrie bad Mavs last year beat the healthy 76ers. Again, they’d replace games against the Warriors and Rockets with games against the Wizards, Hornets, Pistons.

Some of the stats cherry picking are quite annoying. They are 9-1 when they have 15 assists among the three top players. I mean... that means they are making shots (can't get assist without making shots)... that means they are turning over less (can't get assist without getting shots)... they are giving up fewer fast break points (can't give up fast break points when you make shots)... they have all three players healthy (can't get assist without playing) ... the stats are so interconnected that it's not right to insinuate that it's a cause / effect relationship. If Pels just go to each player and say... hey ZW only have 4 assists, let him bring it up every time until get gets #5... that's not conducive to winning.
It's like saying "they are best when they get out on the breaks... they win xyz% when they have N fast break points"... really?!?! getting defensive stops and layouts help winning? Which team doesn't fit that category?!?
Some stats are useful, but we gotta present them more clearly.
End of my rant.
The only question about the Magic is whether Boston are gonna sweep them or let them win one game
