  • FREE Training Webinar highlighting WHY the following 4 training styles will never completely FIX your horse, where they fail and why. With 20+ years of evidence-based research, with thousands of domestic and wild horses, Caroline Beste (founder of Tao of Horsemanship) developed a 100% PROVEN training style that DOES WORK for all horses and explains in this free training webinar how and why.
Caroline discusses why the following 4 training styles will never be able to completely work for horses: Traditional (it’s all about mechanics), Natural Horsemanship (it really isn’t natural and is really about operant conditioning and mechanics), Science-based called Positive Reinforcement, R+ (it’s in excess, unhealthy and unbalanced) and R+/R- Reinforcement (another and prettier name for operant conditioning such as pressure and release) and Gentle/Mindful Horse Training.
In addition to this free training webinar, Caroline is offering another free training event. You have to register for this one because it’s a release of daily training videos. This event is called 7-Day Holistic Horsemanship Mastery Miniseries & Q&A Webinar. You can access details join here: www.taoofhorsemanship.com/mmp....
Topics of discussion in this free webinar include:
-The round pen - the good, the bad and the ugly.
-What is a normal response for a horse?
-What is normal equine behavior? From biting to pinning, spooking to refusing.
-What is R+ training and does it really work when you use food as a reward?
-Do all horses have trauma? How do we know and what are the fist steps to recovery?
-It’s lonely out here! Am I the only one who thinks differently about the way we care for, handle, train and talk about horses?
-Young horses training, give me the quick and dirty on what works best for youngsters (not the human).
-Why lunging IS so important to both the horse and the rider.

I’ve just watched this and OMG I resonate with every single thing you speak about, which is why I’m one of your students!!!!❤❤❤
I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am to be part of your program and how fantastic it is. I never thought I’d be capable of having a herd of 6, and perhaps one day I’ll have more 😃, but the learning and teaching is like no other, and I’ve been down the road of ‘natural horsemanship’, back when P Parelli started getting out there. We can only pray that one day your method will be part of every horses life, as they so rightly deserve xoxo

I used to poo poo your statement that it is all about the relationship but now that I have lived with horses for 10 years, I am open to your interpretation

Hi Christine and Welcome! I've seen some of his videos. It's all the same to me, meaning he's like most. If I knew a horse had issues with trailering, such as this horse in his video czcams.com/video/3D6CPLipfoo/video.html, I would go about it differently. I would not begin with working at the trailer. All you're going to do is re-trigger the horse, just like he did. Then it becomes a fight. Even though he appears nice enough and gentle enough, he's still forcing the horse to deal with the trailer. I want the horse to be in a place where they are confident and trusting enough to acccept the trailer. This means my approach is completely different, beginning with an assessment of the horse, which has nothing to do with the trailer. The trailer (any fear) is a symptom of something deeper that needs to get fixed. In the end, all fear comes from these 3 things: lack of self-regulation, trust, confidence. When we can fix these 3 things we fix everything. I have specific exercises designed to help the horse balance their nervous system, reset it so-to-speak while building trust with me or their guardian. My assessments are 3 hours. Most of the time I can reintroduce the horse to the scary thing within that time and after I've worked on those 3 areas, and if the horse isn't ready yet to emotionally handle the scary thing (trailer) at least I can create a totally different, and positive experience with the scary thing. I then give the guardian homework so they can continue developing, rehabbing, their horse when I leave.

I really enjoyed your podcast, I just wish I had the positive energy you have. I'm a horse owner, but I wouldn't consider myself a horseman(woman).
