- The do it yourself face cast! To make sure our channel is a one-stop-shop for everything in special effects makeup we decided to do a face cast tutorial as well.
This will be used in some of our upcoming makeups so make sure you create your own :-)
ONLY USE PLASTER GAUZE and always follow the insctructions on your specific product. Our particular brand is to be used with water below 35° to avoid exothermic reaction.

And no, it's NOT dangerous. Make sure you use THIN sheets of PLASTER GAUZE ON YOUR FACE, and a very small amount of it.
But DO NOT use regular plaster mix on your skin casue it may get too hot when it sets :)
it would be sooooo cool if you did the "I must not tell lies" scratches from harry potter
julia mount That would be...
😇😇😇 ellimacs sfx makeup I love your work ellie!!!and macs!!😆😍😛😚😚
😉
Love watching you create cool different things !!
Elli is still beautiful without makeup in jealous😭❤️
Chloe McKelvey same. ^-^
and without lip injections
Bless you guys, most tutorials call for materials way too expensive for beginners. I'm greatly looking forward to checking out your other vids. :)
I used this technique only diffrence is i applied Vaseline EVERYWHERE on my face lol
XxXDragaonXxX me too 😂
Did it hurt at all?
@@songbird2614 no ! the plaster gauze is kinda like a paper mask- paper and glue and is very relaxing if someone is doing it on you :) just remember to cover whole face and some hair with vaseline. Latex prostetics can hurt on baby hairs not plaster gauze :D
I did this last night.. putting vaseline everywhere also.. still pretty much waxed my face! 🤣 But brows & lashes still in tact!! 👌👌
Tryxx good idea
shes looks BEAUTIFUL without make up
This is such a good tutorial!! Thank you so much! Any other face cast tutorial I've seen involves at least 2 people and the one with the cast on has to sit with their face and eyes covered completely for at least 20 minutes. Now I can do it myself! Thank you ❤️
This helped me so much! Thank you! Always love watching your guy's videos!
I swear it's like you guys KNEW I was looking for this. It's great!!
Yes! Finally a cheap alternative to face casts. I can make my own prosthetics to fit my face. Thank you for this!!!
Omg. I did this last night and MAN I wish I face planted the Vaseline instead of just putting it on my brows and under eye area. It came off easily where I had Vaseline.. but as for the rest of my face, it hurt. And it did not want to come off no matter how hard I tried. I basically just had to rip it off.
A couple things: I covered my hair with plastic wrap and kept it in place on my forehead using liquid latex as an adhesive-I don’t think it’s worth risking your hair falling into the plaster. And this video made it look so easy but taking it off did not go that smoothly for me at all.
I’m very happy to have my own face cast but there has to be a better way of doing this. Maybe covering your whole face in Vaseline would help the mask come off? Idk good luck >.
Lauren Bennett yeah, when I took mine off I nearly broke mine completely. Luckily, I managed to save it. Putting the mixture into the face cast was also different. When it got to the creamy texture it began to dry quickly so hopefully when I take it out there won’t be any lumps, but the back does look lumpy. Maybe I could sand it so it’s smooth
Lauren Bennett l
Tanya Yexley Okay I’ve learned a ton since then. Never put plaster bandages directly on your skin. Use alginate to take the impression of all the details of your face or whatever you’re lifecasting-it’s not only safe for your skin but captures way more detail than the method in this video. Then you put the plaster bandages over the alginate to give it a shell to hold its shape, and pour your hydrocal into that after you pop the alginate and bandage shell off your face (which actually comes off smoothly).
When I went to Monsterpalooza and told some people what I did following this video, they said “don’t ever do that again. You’re lucky you didn’t lose your face.”
Lauren Bennett Agreed!
Just created my face cast using this tutorial!!! Waiting for it to set overnight and can't wait to play!! I LOVE THIS CHANNEL!!! XOXO - Beauty By Lydia B
Just did a face cast with this tutorial! It's super easy but I would suggest wearing a bald cap or swim cap to extend the plaster further as the cast can become a little skinny and shallow! I've seen conversations about alginate but this application is super easy for a beginner like me
Its cool you did a tutorial on how to do this!
I will make sure to do this in the future!
Great video!👍👍👍
elli you are flawless without makeup 💕
Whattt I didn't realise how easy this was, thank you so much :3
so awesome! so glad I finally decided to do this!
This worked amazingly! I vaselined my whole face and I'm glad that I did! It came off fairly easily! I'm trying to do ellimacs Medusa so I need a face cast to so the prosthetics. Glad I looked for other videos because this one is the easiest one I found! And cheapest! Only cost me about $10 in supplies (Michael's half off one item coupon).
what type of plaster did you get at Michels??? Thanks for your reply
I'm going to start posting you on my FB page. More people need to know about you and Macs. I have been following you guys for about 3 years now and you never cease to make me smile!
Macs, more talking, babe!
Angie B Thank you so so much Angie! =)
I sooo enjoy your channel guys I'm glad I founded. you are so talented. Thanks for a great content
I wish Macs was more specific about how to cover your face properly. I didn't go all the way under my chin because I didn't realize I needed to. I love Ellimacs but please don't glaze over the details!😁
Awesome, you guys are so inspirational! Love the Swedish lessons because I am obsesses with Sweden!
***** Awesome! :)
+Jasmine Gustavsson euphoria Loreen ;)

Thank you so much for making this video it has really helped me

Elli looks so pretty without makeup😘
This was very helpful thank you!
Sweet thank you! I thought I had to go somewhere to get this done. But I can actually do it myself with easy to find stuff. :D
Thanks for the great tutorial; what type of oil was used on her face and in the cast?
love your channel HFL!!
And off to Amazon to buy the supplies! lol. I've wanted to do this for so long :D Now I'm going to have some cool prosthetics in time for Halloween :D
Your so beautiful and natural 😆💗💗
First comment yay(: I love u guys and the show
This is so weird, I was just wondering how to do this ....... And by the way, I love your guy's channel you inspire me so much :)
Great vid really helpful 😀😀
This is... So much easier and cheaper than most face casting tutorials... And it's just about the only one you can do alone.
Hi!!!! i love your work so much, it inspired me to try to make a face cast of my own. So far i have everything i need but my biggest concern is the oil i purchased... from a grocery store lol OLIVE OIL. Im not sure if this is the correct oil to use to remove the face mold from the face cast. Please help! Love you!
Now I really want to do this...
I always kind of thought you needed the gum cast stuff they use professionally...
But this sounds awesome.
Thanky ou very much!
Btw plaster is the same word in German and swedish ^^
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!
I like your videos a lot
@@mariofernandez2003 which one?
dina videoklipp är så bra
Åh vad fina örhängen du har Ellinor!
Linnea Persson Taaack Linnea :D
definitely gotta make this
Elle is soo pretty without make-up on, omg. SO jealous!!
Hey Elli and Mac....you should use the face cast and do a halloween version of Pavi from Repo! The Genetic Opera. That kept going thru my head the whole time watching this lol :)
Hey,
Did you have to wait until the cast was completely dry before filling it with the craft plaster? Currently in mid-process of creating this 😊
I gotta try this one day..
Hej och tack för en superbra tutorial! Är det gipsbinda du använder i första steget? Hur mycket använde du ungefär? Tack!!
sHe's PRETTY! :D
Amazing how similar the Swedish to the German words are! :D Great video btw!
If you guys read the description... She used water that was below 35 degrees to avoid the reaction
Love you ❤️
hey guys love your page!!!!!! just wondering where u got your stuff and was it cheap? i would love to try this
that would be so cool
How did you stick the plaster to the face please ? Love the vid !!!
Her voice is super adorable!!!! ^.^
I might use this if I can't get some body double! The only trick would be getting my whole head and neck casted but I'm sure this technique will work!
I noticed that the inside of yours looks super smooth. I tried this and mine had the weave marks of the gauze. Was my gauze just different or did you maybe coat your inside with something? My plastered face ended up having markings from the threads.
thanks so much for posting this video! it helps a lot and I love every video you post! I was wondering what oil do you use like baby oil or something else? oh and what else could you use other than wood glue?
Any oil can be used or vaseline. You can use modge podge glue or just any kind of glue should be ok. I usually use modge podge.
Can you list the products pleaaaaaaaaaase???
@The Brothers Sebas & Leo English please?
You will need:
Vaseline/oil
Plaster cloth/plaster gauze
Powdered plaster (plaster of Paris)
Water
240 grit sandpaper
Woodglue (PVA glue)
Hi elli and macs I am a big fan btw I see your podcast and you answer me!! Love you
this is cool!!:-)
Great job..
PLEASE use Modge podge. I Used wood glue, and it just peeled off with my prosthetic.
Thank so much , I bought wood glue for this and I have modpodge. Tjanks for the warning
They both do that :(
Mod podge*
hmm.... i wood agree with you
I was just making a face cast of myself to use for prosthetics and the mod podge DID peel off aswell 😅 thanks for the warning about wood glue!
Elli you don't need makeup you're so beautiful
I thought I could buy it at the store so I was searching all over for the masks, then I thought what if the mask cant fit me? then I remember I subscribed to you then I found this video, it was very helpful!
hii, ellinor, im a new beginner self taught visual effect artist. im just wonderring, do u dip plaster gauze into liquid latex which u apply on your face? did u mix liquid latex with water or anything too?
hey just want to say that i really love your videos and tutorials, the steps is really clear. i hope u wont mind if u can list down some brands or product name for us in order to let us know which type we should get to avoid using the wrong one or some that is unsuitable for use on the skin :) and sometime it is really troublesome that my country didnt sell some kind of product that u used :( will be appreciate to that :) keep it up to u ellinor ! really love your turorial
Great work. Thanks for the help... Where can I find this music you used? 😅 I love it
Ellie + that dress = great video, no matter the content. She could be sitting there in that dress watching the grass grow, and I'm fine with it. Heh! Seriously, though, nice tutorial and nice camera work, Macs.
That is so cool. I watch all your videos im your number one fun.........
hello, I would like to create my mask to be able to do other project (I follow you and I try to make certain of your creations) what kind of product do you need?
thank you
I came here after two-face and I remembered the rules so as soon as Elli made a funny face I just shouted SHOT!
you have a very nice channel!!! i subscribed ;)
This works for me, I've used it for half casts and a full cast but I suggest instead of going out and buying all these expensive things to stop it actually hurting your skin just to cover your face in Vaseline, works for me and my cousin who gets stuck with me sticking stuff to her face
This video was really useful as im just getting into sfx makeup myself and was looking for a way to make a face cast for myself without all the fancy nonsense, but this was great because I have some plaster gauze! Also what oil did you use to prevent the liquid plaster from sticking to the plaster gauze?
Hannah Kenny Any oil works fine :) We used olive oil.
Oh thats brilliant! Thank you very much :)
Vart skulle du föreslå att man går för att handla sakerna för det här, och vad är shopping listan? Also, Älskar att det finns en så awesome SFX artist på youtube. Så roligt med alla tidbits!
Ellimacs sfx makeup what do you use to make your face cast plaster gauze but what do you put in it after it with the water ( what do you mix with it)
Would love to have a answer before Halloween
Wonderful
Ok I have the link to your shop for your own plaster gauze. Excellent!
hi! I'm completely new to this... what kind of oil do you use? Is it just vegetable oil?
Gjorde detta för ungefär 2 månader sedan, fungerade utmärkt haha !
Glömde av att lägga olja i " gipsbindeformen"- men det blev bra ändå.
Tack för en hjälpande tutorial ((:
Sorry for the english (french people)
Do you think it's possible to make a mix between the mask of the beginning int this video and the two-face makeup ?
I meen use it for make a "mask" usable many times.
Thanks !
OhMyGod I'd be too worried about ripping my eyebrows off!! Haha, even with the Vaseline applied :O
Deanna Waters don't worry I tried it and I still have my brows and my eyelashes :)
Oh good!! Hahaha might give it a try now
Deanna Waters you can use cling wrap on your eyebrows. That's what I did and I still have my eyebrows.
Deanna Waters a little bit of my eye brow came off but it's hard to tell 😂 cause I just did this rn
At 1:41 did Ellie purchase that skull with the horns? Or did she make it?
Hello,
what is the best way to protect my (long) beard, when doing this?
I have a question do you put vasilin on your face before you put the on plaster bandages?
BTW you get a giant subscribe!😜
Vaseline on your brows is enough :)
ellimacs sfx makeup Oh,okay thanks for replaying to my comment!😜
I have a question. Would you be able to use ultra cal 30 for the face pour instead of plaster, so it's less brittle?
Questions: 1. what type of oil did u use for the finished dried casting face??? Did u use the Vaseline for the whole face or just only the eyebrows to cover???
Cuz I like to make that on my own when I get home from the trip. 👍👍👍💖💖💖🎨🎨🎨
Thank you for the video! Does any type of oil work? Thank you :)
Yep. Elli uses olive but baby or even a thin coat of vaseline would work
Is memory mold or some type of clay a good substitute for this?
Elli is beautiful
On the actual face cast (the part u mixed half water half plaster) did u use regular plaster or plaster gause like when u did the face mold? Sorry if I misspelled it. And love your work!
Yes, stage 2 is regular plaster. But only put plaster gauze on your face on stage 1 :)
ellimacs sfx makeup thanks!
I'm from Norway and I was wondering if you guys knew if it's ok to use the liquid latex from Panduro?
All the other latex from theater shops are so expensive
+nellymarier It says on the bottle not to use on skin but I find that one better and more gentle then others from makeup shops :)
What type of plaster powder do you use to pour into your plaster gauze mask? Any recommendations?
