    Yay for vlog-style face casting tutorial! I watched many youtube videos on life casting and did the most affordable version. However, usually face casts are cured for 24 hours before you can smoothen them and add finishing touches. Watch how I experimented with craft wraps, plaster and got it all done in less than 3 hours! Hope you enjoy! SFX world, here i come!

    Nice video! Btw, Vaseline *is* petroleum jelly. It's just a brand name. Sort of like how Velcro is a brand name of hook & loop tape.
    Having watched other videos, I think you would have had fewer bumps if you had made sure to fill in all of the holes on the wrap when running your fingers over and smoothing it down. The lines/holes in the mesh should not have been visible before applying the next piece of craft plaster mesh. You can put Vaseline on your whole face to make it come off easier. You can speed up the drying of the plaster tape with a blow dryer.
    This turned out great once you smoothed it out. Thank you for sharing!

      Amazing tips! Thank you for sharing! Although removing the cast from the face wasn't that hard (it came off quite easily), I wish I did fill in all the holes of the wrap - i can totally see how that would make process much easier! thank you for watching

    what does putting the glue on at the end do?

    Can u use a glue stick to block out your brows? (Like when doing latex over them?)

    • @DeliaAhmed
      @DeliaAhmed  Před 5 lety +1

      i believe no, as glue will stick to craft wrap - better to use glycerin/vaseline so the brow hairs are safe

    Did the plaster strips heat up as it dries?

    • @DeliaAhmed
      @DeliaAhmed  Před 5 lety +1

      no not the plaster strips- they didn't heat up, but the poured plaster into the mold did.

    I'm wondering if to save money instead of using plaster strips, could you use paper mache. Like good heavy duty paper mache.

    • @DeliaAhmed
      @DeliaAhmed  Před rokem

      plaster strips dry much faster, i think. But paper mache is definitely a good and affordable idea

      thank you, love!! It is for special effects makeup, to use for prosthetics. I'm still just learning these sfx things, hopefully i'll make a video using a face cast to create special effects makeup once i figure it out :) thank you for watching :*

      For most FX makeup, artists will use a life cast of an actors face to make sure the prosthetics fit to the actors face

    You should try putting alginate or silicone on your face before the plaster wrap to get get more detail, but have someone help you with that, don't try it alone...

    • @DeliaAhmed
      @DeliaAhmed  Před 3 lety

      I've seen in some videos how alginate masks can create accurate details even for eyelashes. That would be a good project to try next

    I read somewhere that covering your eyelashes and eyebrows and hairline with vaseline makes the removal easier...

    • @DeliaAhmed
      @DeliaAhmed  Před 3 lety

      didn't risk to cover my eyes, since I did it without help, but vaseline definitely protects all the hair!
