  • How to prevent nasty edges when using basic latex paste prosthetics.
    In this episode we check out how to hide those nasty edges and getting your colours to math up better with your skin and prosthetic. It’s a very simple tutorial and should be easy for even the beginners to follow along with.

    That is awesome! I really wish you had went over the very edge of the latex with a little acetone to melt that tiny visible line. (Acetone will only work on latex thats as thin as in this video. Any thickness whatsoever and the edge wont blend that way)

      How is this not really super fast? haha! Takes 5 min to throw together, 10 sec in the microwave, slap it on your body, paint, done :D

      @@ellimacssfx it does appear quick to make for someone of a reasonable skill level but for someone who may only play for halloween I'm guessing it would take longer. I just watched your video on the different textures using different flours and I'm tempted to give it a go. I impressed people at the local Halloween event when I've only been doing it for under a month and really only dabbling on the weekends. But for now I'm relying on latex to stick it down as I don't have any other fixative to use and I'm working with what I have.

    Thanks for the awesome tutorial in the first place. As you've mentioned this pros aide I have a little question to that...I did understood that there's a difference to Mastix/Spirit gum but I guess one can use that as well to stick the prosthetic to the skin, right?!

    • @SynchronisationFailed
      @SynchronisationFailed Před 5 lety +1

      You can use spirit gum, yes, it's just not as strong (which means, for example, if you want it to last for a long time/all day, it likely won't.) It also doesn't hold up to heat all that well.

      When you tried smoothing the edges did you dip your finger or tool in fresh latex? It stops it sticking according to another video. If it was still too lumpy maybe there was too much flour? Worked with it too long so it started to firm up before you laid it down?
