Not a fan of the 1 finger stuff but other stuff is really nice. Was going to d/l the demo but wondering the name of some of the pad types so I jump straight to it? I still have the original WS AD...some of it is very close to original. Be great if it lets you detach the animation and make it control/realtime by user
You helped me decide to get a Korg Wavestate this week. Unfortunately, it will only know "When the Saints Come Marching In." Thanks for your wonderful presentations!
I’m in Brazil watching this at 02:49am. Thanks for making my night more synthy :)
I’m in Uruguay driving my bmw while eating a burrito !!!
What is going on here? We're barely a week into 2020 and I already had so much G.A.S. that I'm floating a mile above my house, and now you spring this on us?! Thanks, Bo, for another great first impression video. This thing is amazing!
Bob Conway lol 😂😂
Fight fire with fire!
I thought this would be the year I'd amputate my arm to get Omnisphere, instead, this may be the year where I sell my soul to get the wavestate... #ThanksKorg
Damn, not bad. You know a piece of kit is worth considering when it gives you ideas the minute you see it do something.
When I first heard and saw this, I just saw a music making machine! especially for soundtrack type stuff!! you can change/mix sounds! add effects!! I heard there is a random create option?? that is amazing!! I have actually pre-ordered one now, I have never been so sucked into a synth like this before :)
omg it sounds so warm!
Thank you for your this video!
Coffee + BoBeats ... perfect start!
i need to get myself a cup too!
Advanced pitch sequencing being used as sound design modulation....BRILLIANT! I did not see this coming :) Wishing a healthy 2020 for you Bo.
Yeah, sounds awesome! Thanks for the demo Bo!
Thanks Bo, Your video of the new Korg WaveState is the best in-depth review I've seen for this amazing product. I particularly liked the segment you did on building a new patch from scratch - it helped very much with giving you an idea of just how deep and complex this synth can be...which is great.
Yes, we needed this! Sounds great.
So glad you were one of the early ones to see this! Spent a nice part of last year working with this - a joy to have my samples in Wavestate as well. Woot!
Very excited for this one. Even the original Wavestation is impressively deep to this day... Can’t wait to try it soon!
You are really bumping up the content quality for 2020 i see!! good one, very enjoyable to watch! cheers
Sounds fantastic
Well done!!Cheers!
Fantastic video, I will be waiting for the fully tutorial!
I ordered it yesterday! It will come on valentines day!! I am reading the manual now!!
Nice introduction video, appreciated Bo
Wooow. I really love wavestation evolving sounds (the old one), finally a new hi fi wavetable based on the original. Look how they exposed all the attributes with knobs and switches is wonderfull..
Whoever came up with this thing is insane!! I love it
Looks like a damned good time.
wow man! a great introduction to a new product, thanks!
Great synth and excellent demo sir.
This is a waw and different agains the Minilogue, very good presentation Bo
Just subbed, preordered this synth. Great review!
A must have!
like always you explained everything clearly ! keep up !
I really love its sound. So many variations possible too, yay!!!!!
So I just bought the wavestate and I am missing the Plugin Guru library as well as the Wavestation library. Any one knows how to get it?
So awesome to see my friends work inside this machine. Well done Pluginguru and Airwave!!!!
Yes! Amazing work
Yes yes yes!!!!! thanks for this I'm waiting to see if I need this in my life!!!
I NEED IT IN MY LIFE!!!!!
Before I dreamed for 3 years buying something like this, now I bought it and will spend 3 years trying to figure out the possibilities for what I just bought :D Happy Wavestate and Kronos 2 owner.
How has it held up? I’m considering picking one up coming from a pianist background? Have you approached the limits of its versatility, or are you still finding new methods to enhance your composition?
@@aqueous5099 Its an never ending possibilig I feel, and after spending time I always see more possibilities.
I didn't think I'd be buying any synths this year. Suddenly I'm not so sure.
wait till we get the release of korg news on 10/01. If it's an ARP2600 I will have to sell a kidney, no choice. ( at leats if it has the same grittyness to it)
Wait for the behringer arp2600 won’t cost you a kidney then lol
@@bennethos I would LOVE to find out that this is a reality! Tell me it's so.......
I hear the "Bottles" sample from the M1, and the M3R. Can't Korg come up with new sounds instead of relying on old originals (that date any kind of music from here on out)?
And it's $800, what a damn steal (for what it is)! I'll probably get an Argon8 if anything though, that synth is sooooo amazing, I really really want it. But the Minilogue xd too, and the Moog Sirin before the price skyrockets, and the Behringer Model D + Neutron, and the Volca Drum, and Arturia Microfreak, and Elektron Digitakt... Sooo many great synths and equipment coming out recently/soon, it's driving my hungry wallet crazy!
gorgeous looking. sounds pretty dang good too.
Yo that patch from scratch section was awesome. Ive been watching a videos on this thing and that really gave a me a feel for how you can make sounds on it.
2mins in....I'm convinced..take all my money!!! Lovely presentation btw, loving that new clean look you have to your videos now.
I couldn’t let it pass... I got it! It’s inspiring!🎶
OMG, what even is this!?!?!?!? It sounds soooooo fun and ambient! Bo, you’re getting all the goodies my friend! I also really like the interface. Where are you finding room for these new toys?? 😁
I suspect he sends some back / to the next reviewer and keeps the stuff he'll actually use, at least that's what some CZcamsrs do
Would've loved to see NEBV's review of this. Bo should send it over or at least ask Korg to do so.
Noir Et Blanc Vie waiting on your review bro!! 👌🏼
Yeah, where do you keep all these toys? Give us the exact GPS position!
This a re-hashed version of a more than 30 years old synth broo
Nice review, really like how you covered the randomize functionality.
This synth sounds frickin awesome !!
Great review Bo! Very helpful. I think I am going to have to get one :-)
I think this is the first time I've started drooling over a synth. I need this.
Pads, atmosphere, ambient soundscapes, M1 house piano......RAVESTATE!
Wasn't sure about this....then I watched your video and heard the organic sounds mixed in LOL, I dig it!
Great video as always, thanks Bo. I'm loving the track around 18:30 - very chilled indeed. Is this one of yours? Happy New Year!
Great video Bo, best I've seen for close up look at Wave Sequencing Engine. Very exciting synth from Korg . I'm out of room in my studio, so wish they'd also do a VST...
Nice review! With all the overlays and arps going off simultaneously it strongly reminds me of the Yamaha MODX.
I remember the Roland Mc909 had 4 parts per patch, and 600 + and something waves? Great machine old as it is for making similar sounds to this, but took much more time. Great Video Bo. This will fit nice into my analogue set up, running through a DAW, big up happy Christmas 2020 👊🏽
Very good Vid Joe
as an ambient/downtempo musician this make me really happy what a great sound
Definitely caught my attention
Can't wait to have it great job korg.
BB great job and demo for everyone to understand whether this is something for our studios.
This thing is Massive and swirly whirly and really sounds fantastic. They really did a huge upgrade to
the original by putting life and movement into what was considered a bit repetitive.
Korda always has great effect..going back to our M3. It almost reminds me of the Karma in the M3.
Lots of menu diving but worth the work because of super u I’ve results.
When I hear you play I can only say Beautiful....good job brother
If any of these sounds sound vaguely familiar to you, the original Korg Wavestation was heavily sampled for the soundtrack for the Donkey Kong Country games way back when.
Does sound very cool. Super smooth demo too Mr Beats. 👍
♥️ 70’s porno music smooth?! ♥️
@@BoBeats As smooth as a vector sweep.
Awesome synthesizer! A+++++++++++++++++++++++++
...and the like button was hit exactly at 0:52! Bo, thank you :-)
Lovin it
I bought my first synth in 1992. It was a Korg. For me this is what synths should sound like.
great review Bo, well done. talking of alternatives , original wavestations are easy to find for $250 and superior in some ways (aftertouch, 61 keys, pro build quality etc) and for $50 (regularly $25) you can't go wrong with korg's own VST, highly recommended!
Like many have said, it would be impossible to make this beast sound bad. Korg.... you got my money !
Sounds sick! Seems a lot more intuitive than an old Blofeld as well 😅
going to make a spot for one on my rig now, thanks
And it begins!! As the song goes.. "🎼🎵There it gooooes🎶There goes allll my monnney againnnn.." well, maybe not exactly the words. Loving this! This is a Great Introduction!! Thanks again BoBeats!!
(and... yeah, thank's again Bo..😑.. you're costing me mad $$ brother! 😉lol!!)
as long as you don't buy it on credit. don't buy stuff on credit please.
@@BoBeats 👍🏻Agreed!! I Don't!..well, I Usually do not.... I Mostly do not😬
but... IF... it is a bit pricey & I really Really "need" it🤔😶.. Then I'll buy it online from American Musical (AMS) Highly Recommend them!! No, I'm not an employee or sponsored by 'em (I wish!)..but, they're Awesome!
I own some of the gear I do, because of them. I would've had to wait years otherwise & having to wait a year or 2 is like Forrrevvverr in "newest synth" years! lol
They do 0% intrerest payment plans 3-12months (& 3 or 5mo w/No credit check!)..pay using my bank/credit card, no store credit needed. I pay the acct balance monthly. So instead of say, letting $800 go at once for a Korg Wavestate.. or if my budget didn't allow it, but would allow 300.. then I can say hello to the wavestate now & bye bye to only $267/mo for 3mos or $160/mo for 5😀😎
But Again, ONLY if can pay off monthly! I also use a 0% interest cc or VERY low at least.. Otherwise.. yes Bo, I agree!! Not good to buy stuff on credit!! Once Again, You are 100, right on point!! Just like your videos!!👍🏻
Omg he sound like heaven! 😍
Now I want one! 😎
Looks like the perfect soundscape machine.
Thanks Bo. Despite liking the look I wasn’t immediately sure about what this actually does as I’m not familiar with the original concept but you did a great job on clearing that up. One for the list to check out at Synthfest UK later this year!
Just bought mine yesterday 🤩😎🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀
This looks and sounds beautiful
I actually own the wavestation vst in sonar along with the korg collection
This is sooo cool..I want one
Everything that comes from this amazing box feels like it could be recorded directly into a soundtrack for an Aronofsky movie
Thank you for the review, (I’ll even forgive you playing the noxious “ski jam” preset😂.)...Aside from the little keyboard, I like everything about this synth-! update of a wavestation even with analogue (modelled) filters, well done Korg, this is an insta-buy for me.
I LOVE SKI JAM!!!
@@BoBeats Ski Jam has been my wavestation favourite for years, glad it's still around and that they are moving wave sequencing on!
Perhaps that means we can import presets from iPad iWavestation..
@@NicholasBryantBonzaiSequoias I'd be surprised if that's the case, what would be pretty awesome is if you could import from the klc wavestation, or just like Yamaha did with the Montage & DX7 import actual old-school wavestation patches!
this should have come with a roli seaboard as the keyboard
dhfg , for double the price I imagine
Poly after touch over midi controller!
You can hook up any controller for poly after touch so I might just buy a Roli for mine
Definitely really cool my only concern is it just feels like everything is already done for you with presets.
Initialize patch, my dude
This seems like a synth I could keep for a very long time and it would suit whatever style I am doing at the time. Not a bad price either 👍😎
I love the Argon8
Lots of recognisable sounds from my Triton, Karma, Wavestation A/D and SR, 01R/W, TR Rack, Krome.....
Agree there, but it has many more raw waveforms for intricate sound design.
My Triton's waveform's alias when stretched for low bass sounds, my Wavestate has better over all multisamples.
I love it.. seems like it's going to be affordable also
Great Review, very informative and you really confirmed my desire to get one. I really like the price point, as opposed the Jupiter X at $2400 or Roland JDXi close to 1600. I used to have a Wavestation from the earliest days, but always thought it was difficult to program, but sounded great. It's good to hear this is easier to program and more accesible. Any idea when it will be available to buy.
I like what I see and hear
Outstanding sound! So much modulation...this could be my first KORG!!! ...passing on the XD. 15:23 Sealed the deal for me. This and a Jupiter XM could complete my set up.
Excellent
If I’m not mistaken, wasn’t Dave Smith involved with the original WaveStation? I wonder how much of the original has been retained. Anyway, nice little demo, Bo. This looks awesome. Wondering what the price will be. Would’ve been nice to see some of the joystick action.
Jared Nichols correct. After Sequential went out of business Dave Smith went on to work for Yamaha and/or Korg, the WaveStation came from the Prophet VS.
Very nice video! I really like that diddy at 16:57. This synth looks really cool, but I don't see myself ever getting one. The Poly D or Digitakt is where my wallet is headed to next.
Sound very legacy, which is great. Only criticism is that I find it very difficult to use a machine with this small a screen.
Korg is killing it at NAMM with this and the ARP 2600!
Instant BoC with this machine. Edited to add and much much more. Edited to add nr2: Good video :).
Pros = great sound creating possibilities, with nice sound quality.
Cons= 3 octave keyboard, no after touch, no separate audio output for each layer, no expression pedal input, and no ext, audio input.
they need to make a big brother with all of this... a new wavestation?
Very interesting demo Bo! The Hydrasynth seems far more powerful in many ways, but this seems a very logical and cheaper option, specially with the piano sounds which are a nice edition. How do the keys feel and what do they compare to please?
The keys are not bad, but not very good either. Very average. Like MODX I'd say. So Hydra and Argon 8 have clearly better keys
Hi Bo, love the channel! I bought the Minilogue XD after seeing how much you love the Minilogue. It is fantastic! I have also bought the Wavestate, and made an impulse buy on a keyboard based Blofeld, but not arrived yet. I am starting to find my way around the Wavestation presets (performances, multi samples and samples), but haven't had a chance to read the manual and play with it much yet. I understand the Wavestate may have some overlap with the Blofeld, but without all the Wavestate dynamics. Listening to the Wavestate, it maybe complicated to get the most out of the endless possibilities, even though the some of the samples are nice. What are your thoughts! Thanks in advance and keep up the excellent work! 😎👍♥️
Bobeats uploading at 12:50am, guess he doesnt want me to sleep.....
A lot of good sounds
A synth, worth coming on my wishlist ;-)
nice, a fan of the wavestation. Hoping my local store has one on display so I can play with it. Honestly, My physical gear is analog gear. This might make me consider picking up a digital one...having a cup of coffee on your behalf Mr Bo Beats! thanks!
sbmphr I corrected myself, thanks!
Hello Bo, thank you again.
As a very old Korg user, I'm a bit sad to see that there's nothing new in this Kb. The old Oasys was already able to do that 14 years ago !!!
They wanted just making a revival synth, not something completely new synth.
Fred, not true! This has many more variables to control.
@@johnbowen3071 I've red the Wave Sequencing 2.0 on Korg Website and didn't see anything new that couldn't be done in Kronos. But perhaps I'm wrong.
Could you please specify what kind of control you spoke of ?
@@dirkkeersmaekers4343 You're perhaps right, indeed. But 3 octaves only, no aftertouch, very tiny display...is it really a good revival ?
Fred Liviou Kronos isn’t £650
Not sure why the piano patch shocked me so much, considering returning my Minilogue for this
Was considering getting a minilogue xd but definitly not sure now... how would you compare the 2 even tho I know they are completely different
Now I see what's going on with the Wavestate Bo! Actually, it's not that dissimilar from my Montage, but without the FM engine, added features and build quality. The Montage has motion control with lanes that can be rhythmically automated like a sequencer or controlled with the super knob. I'm glad I saw your video before I considered this as my next wavetable synth. It has more in common with my Montage than a PPG. I'm looking for a modern take on old school, Waldorf style wavetable synthesis in my next synth. From what I see, the Wavestate isn't the tool to get me there. The Hydrasynth seems the best bet for me.
@Rhizosphere this is way more versatile for wide pallet of sounds, than Hydra etc..
