Drums sound super tinny and weak

Just got mine yesterday, love it! Such a fun synth. Thanks for the video, it made me seek one out. Great sounds come out of this thing.

I am new to DT2. I am not sure I understand the complaint on polyphony. Can’t you just sample a chord progression?

I have a MIDI keyboard controller hooked up to my Roland MC-707. Zen Core inside. It's more than enough for a hobbyist like me.

At thomann they stopped selling it in 2024, it seems that behringer RD-6 is still the king, I bought RD-6 for its realistic sound, but also for the extras, the randomizer is a great drug for creating rhythms with percussion plugins, but it also has Its dedicated outputs for each sound and a MIDI interface via UBS, to use it as a controller for softsynths or virtual drum machines. These are things that seem more inspiring and manual to me, I can create the probabilities in Logic Pro if that were necessary, but TR-606 has the FX dedicated to each sound, it can really make good electro techno rhythms, but its digital sound breaks in The output signal and the mix in input generate a lot of background noise, Roland did not fix these problems and it seems that the most musical public did not like this.

I had the 606 for years… the Behringer sounds a lot closer to my old Drumatix. The Roland doesn’t have the right feel.

Thanks for this! Great to have a side-by-side comparison. On the basis of this video I've decided the original Drumbrute is likely to be the right sound for the techno I'm into - solid, punchy, and clean sound coming through here (with the exception of that grainy open hat, maybe!) Love the sound of that filter - very smooth, and perfect for a drop. I would say the Impact really is not to my taste at all, although I can see how it might be preferable for some genres - bit more a synthetic feel? Very different instruments, likely intended for quite different styles of music.

That point at 35:22 really was a sore point for me also. I was hoping that these could record pitch bend, mod wheel, and other CC events to the sequencer, and still send that out to external instruments, but that’s sounds like it’s not the case. It’s the same case with the MC-303. In fact even after I configure the track to be external, a MIDI keyboard used as input still triggers internal sounds, instead of passing through to external MIDI. Only the key pad buttons on the MC-303 pass through to an external synth. It really wasn’t intended to be a sequencer except internally.

Once you get this playing through some nice monitors and synced up with a drum machine or groovebox or both , it sounds great and is alot of fun, especially for the price!

I recently got the Audiofuse rev2 small.. and it's super versatile for my laptop...adat in...amazing...having so much i/o... its not the main recording interface ..it;s the coffee table do anything unit..very very cool device...picked it up new for AUD$550 June 2024.. that's a decent price I'd say.

My life is complete...with SOLAR 42

Normally I use the Octatrack MK2 as the center of my setup. For interst I bought a used SP-404 MK II and updated it to V 4.05. I found out that the SP cannot exchange the OT in its centerpiece function and therefore I intent to use it "as an extension to my OT". Useful so far is only to sync both devices (SP is clock-slave of OT). The midi implementation of the SP is poor for my understanding. In total the handling of the SP in a usefull way needs a strong learning curve. A lot shortcuts to remember. The manual is quite booring to study. Any suggestions?

Exciting but also a huge downgrade. Please don’t get too excited as Bo mentions updated. But the functionality was downgraded. No sub Bank. And no Maschine integration and even a software update will not bing back the Maschine physical butting that the KKMK2 has. Screen is nice but still stuck with 8 knobs and 8 soft buttons. This will interesting how NI will dig themselves out of this.

I can tell you’re Swedish from how you pronounced “cheat sheet.” You did well, but I know the English ch isn’t a sound in Swedish and it gives a lot of you trouble.

I guess I'm hearing they improve audio quality quite a lot. I have the old mini-KP and it's unusable in this regard.

Thanks for sharing. It looks like a lot of fun. It reminds me of the old circuit benders and what they made, and how some of them started making synths from scratch afterwards. I bought four of them that were lost in the fire and did use them a lot. I even made a synth of my own that changed sound by a photo sensor connected to two resistors that were affected by light and darkness in different ways. The synth stands were the most interesting thing for me, as I have a small space to work with and was planning on making my own stands.
