  • "Laugh and Cry", Moab... In this episode the XO crew travels south of Moab on the Lockhart Basin trail then into Valley of the Gods in southern Utah. The jokes are subtle, and the laughs are as big as the country they travel through. Also, Jeff Downer tells the guys about his past tragedies including his mothers death from breast cancer, being brutally hit on his bike by a drunk driver, and his sisters diagnosis of breast cancer. Then he roles it all up into "life is short and you must pursue your passions!" You will laugh and you just might cry.

Folks, I was diagnosed with cancer in 2013 being Multiple Myeloma and now throat cancer since a month ago.
I found your channel through my sons interest in offroading and have almost watched every one of your video's.
Can't thank you enough for the great content and editing of your amazing trips, not only fantastic but a great way to enjoy and forget all the troubles a person can be going though.
Very best to you in your journeys!
    Cheers, Pete

Y'all are amazing. I found you when searching for ideas while trying to overland my 94 Toyota pickup. i watched all of season two and searched high and low for season one. I'm happy to see y'all put it up. Im a 19 year old engineering major, and before XO i had no idea what i wanted to do with it but now I'm doing what i can to pursue a career with Toyota in their off road department. I love what y'all do and its so cool to see how far y'all have come in the cinematography and over landing aspects. i encourage you to keep being passionate about over landing because you are truly making a difference in peoples lives!

Cancer killed my mom when I was 17. Breast cancer tried to kill my wife in 1990. Brain cancer killed her in 2004. Solo adventuring in Baja has been my therapy. Folks don't understand. Damn it Jeff, this one hit too close to home.

May God Bless the Downer family and all families battling cancer. My mom has been battling cancer for 15 years, Had Breast cancer, now bone cancer. Cancer can rip families apart, or bring them closer than ever.. luckily for my family, it brought us closer through Christ.
As for the trip, that trail looks pretty awesome. Gonna do some research on it, but I don't think I can go at that trail with 1 rig out of safety concerns. Was the footage you showed the worst of it? Nice video fellas!

ok, so, I have watched all the Alaska/Yukon vids. I have watched most of the North American playlist. Recurring theme: Land Cruiser continually getting stuck Tacoma(s) continually getting it unstuck....I'd rethink that heavy beast. I will say however I have ZERO overlanding experience but am looking for my first rig.

I think it has more to do with the fact that they're towing a trailer behind it. Without the trailer, it would have no problem keeping up with the tacoma. I always keep thinking they shoudl rethink carrying a trailer.

Love the series! I was directed to them after commenting about some of the antics I'd seen on some of the 4x4 Alaska shows seen on a major network. You guys are awesome, very jealous.
I do have a question about the rooftop tent on the Tacoma. Having had experience with fiberglass tops in the past, I know that they can be prone to cracking even without the added stress of weight on the top of them. Now when you add the rooftop tent and it looks like other gear that is being stowed in the rooftop tent I would think that that fiberglass shell would be very very prone to cracking how did you guys address that?

I would love to be part of your team. .. I really appreciate the professionalism of doing thing, safety aspect and your behavior to one another. On the down side, I feel the one on the motorcycle lack of serious skill and he's motorcycle is way too much to handle for him. Unfortunately that could bring the team in serious trouble (injury) and down time with mechanical issues that could be avoid by having a much lighter bike. Further more a smaller bike would be much easier to improve his skills. But in all great time and thanks for sharing your adventures with us.

Youse guys keep going, "Duh, we might be lost...", then looking at a map. Maybe try using the quadcopter for aerial recon rather than just videography. MY home-made quadcopter can be run up to 3000-ft for a real birds-eye view of the surrounding countryside...I don't know the limitations of your store-bought one. ;)
PS. You need a dust-sock over your snorkle, to pre-filter out more of that crud.
