  • Every "toy" has a niche where it shines. An Argo with tracks may not be the fastest machine on the trail, but in the swamps and mud it will go places that others cannot.

I have been out with other people who were running Argo rubber tracks, all plastic tracks (I’m not sure of the brand) and tracks made locally (Alaska) with belting and steel grossers. Mine are Adair. Each kind of track excels in a different terrain, so it depends on where you plan to run them. In my opinion, the adair tracks work well in mud, soft snow and will swim slowly; however, they are not great on hard surfaces such as large rocks and compact snow and ice. The Argo rubber tracks offer a very large footprint and are good in thicker mud, snow, compact snow and rock surfaces, but do not swim and are heavy. The belting tracks with steel grousers are the best of the three on ice and compact snow and ice, they are good in the mud and better than Adair tracks on rocks: however, they are noisy, tough on your tub, if things go bad, and have gear reduction. I would not recommend the all plastic tracks. All that said, if I were to do it again I would get Adair tracks because they work well in the areas I travel.
