How do you rate Rain X?
I used it once and found it a pain to use
I rate it as a son of a bit ch and bear to remove but it’s dirt cheap so once In awhile I give it a go
Glassparency is also a dud and over hyped in US
@@TruckerMatty93 I didn't help myself in this video. Can definitely see the issues you can get with it.
I did a huge extensive test on glass, it all comes down to how it is prepped, I prepared panels in different ways and the rain X that was applied 8 months ago is still working on the panel that was decontaminated, machine polished with rayon and Ceri-Glass and then IPA wiped and made sure it’s ready for coating. Then applied Rain-X and after 8 months it’s still going very strong
Made an absolute hash of applying RainX many years ago and have never gone back! I've been using Turtle Wax Dry & Shine as a drying aid recently and found it gives decent results if sprayed on the glass BUT you have to blast it off immediately with your pressure washer or it'll streak like hell. Passes the 'no wiper' test up to about 15/20mph and should last between washes so maybe 2 weeks max. Be interesting to see the results with your 2 products 👍.
I made an absolute hash in this video too. It's easily done😂
I do like spray and rinse sealants on glass like you. Just a pig to avoid water spots if you don't rinse quickly.
I've been using rain x on and off for 27 years
Good product and very cheap
Never found it to last nega long and can be smeary once applied
I found two coats of rain x then take the 2nd coat off using rain x window cleaner works best
I use it on the trucks windows and mirrors and it lasts a few months
I'll have to try the glass cleaner trick you mentioned. Had to use water on this video as a dry cloth wasn't doing the job.
Always found Rain X didn’t last but that was years ago and I didn’t know about the correct prep. Looking forward to your findings .
So far they're still neck and neck. Not been long though 😂
I've tried rain dx on my old van didn't think muchnof it but think its more user error on my behalf 🙇♂️
Seems to be commonly the biggest issue with it. I got it wrong myself just filming this😂
some of the hydrophobic glass cleaners are good .... i really like the one from sansom, and i've got one from ez which suprised me with how good it was.
I've heard as much. Maybe a glass sealant Vs one of the glass cleaners in the future should be filmed.
I once used the Rain X screen wash additive, learned a lesson that day. I think glass coatings could be broken down into categories, hydrophobic glass cleaners, entry level such as H2GO and Rain X, and ceramic such as CC Platinum Glass a.d Gtechniq G1. I think the 2 in the video are in the same bracket. #TTBD
HDD hydrology would need to have insane durability to make it worth £9.99 for 50ml. It's more than likely Rainx in a different bottle.
They smell very similar. Maybe a similar active ingredient. A couple weeks in and these are both neck and neck.
Carbon Collective Platinum Glass is £14.95 for a 30ml bottle and is a very competent product so I'd say it's priced very well. Maybe Hydrology sits in line with Angelwax H2GO given it's price and quantity.
Sooooo... did you forget to update? Couldnt find the link to the results that you mention at the end :/
Yeah I've not put an update up on this. Work simply got in the way. They both seemed to die at the same time around the 4 month mark. Great effort from the cheaper option and below par on the hydrology.
@@TranquilityBaseDetailing Ah, ok. Well thanks for taking the time to explain the results, much appreciated :)
Keen to see how this plays out.
Couple weeks in and it's still neck and neck.
