I recently acquired a steam dryer and I got to admit, it feels so weird attaching water to my dryer 🤣
We thought the same thing
I feel the same way!!!
I’m dealing with the same issue right now 😂😂😂
Does it need to be attached in order for it to dry the clothes?
@@RosaGarcia-xo5uz No, it doesn't need to be attached
This was exactly what i needed. I kinda knew how to do it but this was like having your buddy come over while you install it. Just to give you that little confidence on what you jeed to do. Thanks buddy.
Great video. I'm a visual learner, and this demo was perfect for me. Thank you!
Just had to come say THANK YOU! Because of this video I was confident enough to go to home depot and then install this on my dryer! Couldn't have done it without you!
I was schooled today, thank you for sharing!
Just needed a quick reference and this was perfect. Thanks for the help.
Thank you so much! So easy but without the guide i probably would have messed up.
great job Ryan. it is very clear tutorial. thank you
Thanks ever so much for your video. The installers, and manuals do not explain things nearly as well as your video.
Thank you I love common sense videos, real simple easy to follow🎉
Awesome video. I just got new dryer with this option. I guess I'll hook it up since your video was very helpful.
Thank you for sharing very helpful information!
Thank you! I just bought a Speed Queen Dryer with a steam cycle. Wasn't sure how you would hook it all up. I do know.
😎
Well done! You took a lot of time to explain this step by step! I hope you do other videos a well because you are really good at it.
Great video. So easy to follow and understand.

Thanks for the tutorial Ryan!

Very well explained!
Thank you for making this video.
Glad I watched this lowes has my steam to dryer hooked up to the hot water not cold
This video was very succinct! I hope that my new steam dryer is going to be as easy to hook up as yours. Thank you for this fine tutorial! 🙂

Thanks for being my dad and teaching me how to setup my stuff 🤣
Man it almost took the life out of me to hook this water up to my dryer but I did it and we good now so we will see what happens thanks for the video
Bro it’s a few hoses, a Y connector, some Teflon, and maybe a set of channel locks. 10 minute install. Unless you had some really weird plumbing setup?
Thank you!
Thank you!!!
So steam dryer are attached only to cold water correct???
Yeup. Totally looked this up after I did it🤣🤣
very clear tku
Thank you
Eastman kit - Lowe's 🙌🏾
My hot water is soft, cold is hard. Will it cause problems for the dryer, using just hard water?? Thank you very much. (LG, gas dryer)
Gracias
Could I just attach a Y connector to the faucet and then two hoses one for washing machine one for dryer?
I just got my first steaming dryer and I'm wondering if I have to use the feature?
If there is a water inlet in the back, I would recommend it. The company that installed our dryer neglected to hook it up, and it made a terrible noise when the "wrinkle saver" function was used.
Excellent video, thank you. What can I do if I need a longer hose to the dryer. The kit gives you only a 6 ft. Hose. Is there a longer hose that you could recommend that I can buy separately? Thanks again.
same Q
@@jimmyl9898 could you connect the y-connector to the hose from the washer and then use the 12 in hose to the washer and the 6ft to the dryer?
@@yossidukes2145 ya I ended up doing another 10ft connecting to th included 6ft using a hose connector. Works! Thought it would be too long for it to work but works great
What if I need a longer hose (like 10ft) can I use a washer hose ?
If you dont have a rubber gasket on the hose you're gonna leak water everywhere and you're not gonna have a good time. hahahahahahah *GOLD
Can you use hot water
I have a technical question. Our cold water hose was basically fused to the spigot so we had to leave that old hose on and connect it to the newer washer (we didn't want to bother with getting a hole new spigot installed) Hence we couldn't do the split hose thing with our steam hose kit for the dryer. But now i'm thinking, can't i just cut the old rubber hose down to one foot length, get one of those male hose repair menders on the end and then connect the Y adapter and proceed to hook up 2 hoses to go to the washer and dryer? Does that 1 foot piece of hose really need to be stainless braided hose? I mean, we've had the rubber hose supplying the cold water to the washer for years? Would that be a suitable solution?
I am a plumber. It is possible that you can do that and it may work. Just keep in mind that you’re taking a risk anytime you are Jerry-rigging old plumbing materials like that.
For me , it could be one month between usage of the steam drying feature. Any problems with water sitting in the pipe for that long?
Generally, there shouldn’t be any issues with water sitting in the pipe that long. Although, In some scenarios, there may be a problem if you have terrible water quality with lots of sediment or galvanized pipes. Chunks of sediment or galvanized steel corrosion can clog up fixtures that aren’t used often.
For everyone having issues with leaks. Use Teflon tape on the threads, not sure why he didn’t do this. It’s plumbing 101, it’s designed to seal water lines at their junction points.
I recently acquired a Whirlpool driver that has a stained steamer a oral postgraduate with a stinger and I was lost about What about this I am honored to have uh this
Does this have to be attached to cold? I attached mine to the hot valve on accident, and it’ll be a huge pain in the ass to switch due to limited space. Is it a must?
I did too thinking hot water would be better for steam
Yes, you have to....that is what is written on the manual; cold water
Recommend to me by manufacture, Should be a screen washer (remove the existing rubber washer) between the 12” cold line and Y splitter. Maybe preinstalled in the Y splitter. Worth a check. I imagine screen would be a protection from debris in water line.
How would that affect the water pressure?
Mine has it at the fitting in the dryer.
I will try this! Mine keeps leaking right at the point from the 12” cold line to the Y splitter.
@@kayjae10TEFLON TAPE!! Plumbing 101. 😂
I imagine if you ran a steam cycle with no water to it the element would burnout. Cause i know somebody that had lowes install the dryer but they must have stole the kit and never hooked a cold hose to it. And shes used the steam setting but she wants me to hook it up.
My washer and dryer has a sink and cabinet in between washer and dryer . I don’t want a braided cable stretching across sink. Do I need to install this steam hose? I don’t really want to drill hole through cabinet to extend hose to dryer
You don’t need to install the steam hose. It’s just if you want that feature.
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
so steam always uses the cold water?
Y si no pones linea de agua.,si seca o no seca?
Thanks and just decided not to attached a water hose to my new steam dryer for it is just 3 more points that could leak. I can go without the steam option.
It dries without it.
No gfci electrical ?
Whah is this for on a dryer?? Steam what and why?
Skip to 2:00 he yaps a lot
If you have this option do you need to install it ?
No. It wasn't installed for a period of time. Just an option.
No Teflon right?
Can I use my. Kenmore steam dryer without connecting the steamer hose.
@@scorpiosista626 txs. Mam. As long. It doesn't affect the power or ability to perform its drying cycle. No Steaming is okay coz it's add up drying time which is more costly. Stay safe.
In my case, my dryer isn't near my washer to do this....lol
WHAT happens if you dont install it?
Great info just FYI to long.
So i dont need the gas?
Where does the input for the gas go?
😅
Do you have to use the 12 inch hose at all? Why not just attach the Y connector straight to the cold water?
You could do that, but it could become difficult to tighten the Y connector enough to not have any leaks. It could also be difficult to attach or eventually remove the hose closest to the wall, if you only attach the Y and not the extension.
Thanks again for your information and I was just gonna buy just the Y thanks
You should have mentioned which was hot and cold shut off valves
he did.
Thanks for the vid but man someone needs to make a one minute version of this that just shows which water hose connection to put where.
Don’t you need plumbers tape?
"Need"? Perhaps not absolutely required, but it's a very good idea to use teflon tape on the threads. It really makes things go together more smoothly and helps reduce the friction as you tighten the supply lines. Generally, the supply lines tightened to a nice snug fit by hand is desired. With teflon tape, this is easily accomplished.
@@davidbell6064 Teflon tape is not used on the threads, as you say, to make things go together more smoothly.Teflon tape is used to seal (fill) the threads because water will follow the threads along the grooves and leak out of the other end. Some plumbers still used pipe dope or thread sealant that comes in a bottle with a brush to apply to the threads
Why is your washer not plugged into a GFCI outlet
Why do you never mention removing the hot water line to connect to the washer? Pretty important step to leave out.
The washer was already hooked up so he never had to disconnect or hook it up. The video is for installing a steam dryer water hookup, not a washing machine.
I think my parents bought a steam gas dryer. But it is optional to add the water line? I mean, I'm sure there's settings to use steam or without using the steam right?? lol only because I'm pretty sure I'll be hooking up some washer and dryer this weekend. parents hold out on the hall away old ones to give to a friend 7yrs old whirlpools.... idk ifcanletmeknow...
