I just a used dryer. I'm not planning on using the steam option. Do I need to cap off the thing on the back or just let be how it is now?
Hello, Mark! If the option is not going to be used, simply leave it as it came. Thank you! -Max
No thread sealant tape? 😮
I’m wondering if you have to have that line from your wash machine to your dryer if you’re not going to be steaming anything
No, you don't have to have them connected if you are not using the steam feature.
? hot water hose for dryer steam connection ? It would be way more efficient to have the dryer steam use hot water from by Buderus so their electrical heater has less to do. Why do all the dryer steam instructions specify a cold water connection? anybody ever connected to the hot? please advise.
This just a guess and my knowledge may be out of date. I worked in hardware stores over 30 years ago. We sold hot water heaters. I learned then that, to protect the tank from corrosion, a hot water heater has an anode rod inside the tank. The anode rod is made from aluminum or magnesium and it corrodes so the tank will not corrode. When that rod has corroded away, then the tank will start corroding. (That is why it is recommended to replace the anode rod occasionally.)
Water coming out of a hot water heater may have magnesium or aluminum that migrated into it, so it is not really supposed to be ingested. This water may leave behind more residue than cold water when it is heated to steam temperature. And that added residue might damage the steam heating element in the dryer. That is my best guess.
