I’ve got so used to playing big band triads al la Freddie Green that I find it hard to play other voicings and have to work really hard to incorporate them into my playing.

I have the same issue, it's difficult to break old habits and develop new. That's especially true when attempting to switch between two completely different styles of music. Whew!

As a “fret note newby” im wondering if she is thinking of the notes when she places here fingers or what? It looks like because she knows where the notes are and what notes make up that voicing she is demonstrating it can be placed many places.
