Thankyou fellow guitarist ;). I have consulted Mr. Pass (Blue Side of Jazz) for the changes, so your fine lesson ties in beautifully. 🌻

That was a brilliant lesson. These blues changes which isolate each arpeggio note especially the 3rd & 7th are the gateway into Jazz & other progressive changes. Also thanks for demonstrating this with the odd chromaticism etc. it really helps.
    🙏😊

I think that no matter how “advanced” you are, it is always SO important to continuously practice the basics. Every song you learn you should start with the arpeggios. Yes, this stuff is important for beginners, but every player should be doing this on a daily basis.

Thank you for the great lesson on uising our ears and searching for the 3 (and 7.). Very much appreciated.

Excellent lesson, thanks. The discipline of each small step is so important to build a good foundation.

I really really appreciate this lesson and breakdown! You're right, the 3rd is so crucial. (I've been also realizing (humbly) how helpful it is for me to just play the root under melody bits to get the form of a song down.) But wow, you can use the 3rd to do so much improvising around! I love your last solo where you just allowed the organic shape of lines to develop. Really helpful lesson, thank you!

This is as incredibly helpful lesson for me, just dipping my toe into improvisation. There are tons of lessons on arpeggios and the like, but here I can see now how to build up from the most simple concepts. Spent just a little time on it and I can feel the learning happening! Thank you Tina!

Thank you for this video. There are a lot of good tips here. Some of these I already do but it's good to see I'm not the only one using them. Great video ! 😁

Without a bouncing ball, I could not follow the chord changes. I could hear the I IV I V7 IV I V7 I (or whatever) but definitely got stumped on hearing the second V7 and back to I, something normally very easy to hear. Oddly enough, when I was in high school, I was able to follow the placement of notes of Leonard Bernstein conducting Charles Ives 4th Symphony, a jazzed up Symphony composition of the church hymn, "Nearer My God to Thee" without a bouncing ball. The idea of approaching chromatically to end on the 3rd of the chords in a more interesting jazz progression is something my ear can theoretically really relate to. Hopefully, this will work for me. Hopefully, because I play trillions of notes and could possibly use the 3rds as places to land. Anyway, that's a big "Hopefully."

Really enjoy the approach to harmonic improvisation in your videos. Would be great if you covered Weather Report and Domi and Becks style of jazz..and how it would sound on guitar…

I think it's the Ibanez artstar as2000. Of course, it could be the Ibanez John Scofield model. 🙂
