I'm glad the owner came in to have her piggy looked at. We need to encourage people to learn, and not be hostile to people not in the know.
To use the Brain for thinking about is for some guys to difficult. Use the mind are the key words! What's about so many animals that come in. And who's suffering? The animals and the rescues.

Accidents happen - it's wonderful that the owner came to the LAGPR for Saskia to help! And it's great to hear the owner ask lots of questions.
I must say, the color coordination between Miss Saskias sweater & that piggie was Extraordinary!!! Ya just could not have planned it any better! Ha!

Well, now that I’m a guinea pig owner around the corner from work I’m terrified that my guinea pigs have something in their teeth and I’m not around to do something about it. Now I’m gonna be terrified for 12 hours today. Even though I don’t use beads in my apartment, but still now I’m terrified there’s something stuck in my pigs teeth. I tend to fixate on EVERYTHING and this is going to be on my mind all day lol. And the funny thing is, there will probably be nothing in my boys’ teeth but now I’m going to have to check when I get home. Just in case. Because I won’t let it go until I do.
This isn’t a bad thing. This is my OCD learning a lesson in Guinea pig care. I still appreciate every single video you post. I learn so much from you!!!
FYI, a good way to check the teeth is to rub their chin! If they enjoy the sensation their mouths will open. An alternative is to hand-feed them and tilt the food upward in a way that they have to expose their teeth when they reach for it. I'm scared to hold my pigs' heads in the way that Saskia does, so I try to do that checkup in a less invasive way. Hope this helps!
My goodness, she's so calm compared to my piggies. XD I think my piggies would be biting if they ever got a bead stuck. You handle them so well and provide great education to others.

You helped this piggy 3 times over: bead removal, possible friend (and an adoption from a rescue rather than a store bought animal), plus food knowledge for the owners!
I feed a mixture of foraged food like dandelion flowers and greens and wild lettuce and parsley and store bought foods like spring mix, squash, carrot, peas and their favorite-any color bell pepper. We occasionally get green beans, apples, and even a tiny amount of broccoli once every few months (Champ’s previous owner was unaware it caused bloat and fed broccoli nearly every day).
So glad the owners of this beautiful girl were open to knowledge. Another win for piggy-kind! 🤘🏻☺️💕

@@arottie4097 I just try to give them the most variety that I can so they get all the vitamins and nutrients they need and they don’t get bored of the same things all the time. I have 2 bearded dragons that I offer this type of variety for as well. ☺️

She's really beautiful! Silver agouti with white is my favourite color as well^^ You can see how annoyed she was with the pearl and how she immediately was more lifely when it was out. Hope she'll have a great life now and find a buddy =)

I got a pig that had a bead stuck exactly like this but it must’ve been stock for a long time without previous owners knowing anything about it. And just as Saskia said, her teeth fell out and was never more.
Silver agoutis are so gorgeous. I was looking at a pair of sisters when looking for a friend or 2 for my senior girl, but they were fairly far away and and a closer pair of sisters has been living at the humane society for over a year. I call them my co-workers cause I work from home.

I’m sorry Saskia to be a bit negative on the outcome of this situation. I really am hopeful the family will get a friend for this pig but hearing the mom say “the youngest daughter is the culprit “ made my stomach drop. Our family currently have three girl piggies that my husband and I care for equally but we got them at the start of the pandemic for our daughter to care for. She still spends at least 20 minutes a week feeding and holding them and disinfecting their litter boxes (we were lucky enough to get a mama who taught her babies to use the boxes about 40% of the time) but anyone thinking a child or teen is responsible enough to fully care for an animal such as a pig is delusional. I think we can train and insist those tasks but it’s still an adult’s responsibility ultimately. For me, very sadly, my parents left the care of more than 20 pigs to me in the 80’s at the age of 12 and I still have reoccurring nightmares. This turned into rampant breeding, inbred mutations and ultimately my father putting the “survivors” in a pillow case and using a hammer to bludgeon them to death when I failed to adequately take care of them. Parents, please don’t.

I mean if the toddler like had beads in her hair and took them out and they got in the pigs cage i see where she’s coming from, but it doesn’t sound like she intrusted the pig 100% in the kids care, little mistakes happen and young ones dont always know how to behave around animals
oh poor baby!! Saskia you are so amazing, its because of you i was able to help my little Daisy pass a stone this weekend when the vet was full/closed. I do have to ask what exactly do you use to numb when your working on a stone, is it something we could get without a perscription besides the CBD? I was lucky and while fairly large it was not solid so broke up and came out in just 2 minutes, I gave her a couple days of Meloxidyl because even if it didnt bleed (sometimes last time a vet did it the piggie had a little tearing) we all know it hurt on the way down.... My poor husband was actually dealing with his own kidney stone late last week so he really felt bad for her as his landed him in the ER.
Oh great job!!!! I use a little Lidocaine that was gifted.
My vet charges $69 for an office visit and I have run my piggies to see them for nothing a few times but I'd rather pay for no problem than to not go and their be a real need. Wish I lived closer to Saskia! I have learned so much from her videos! Tha k you Saskia and everyone of your volunteers ❤

My husband brought home a six month old piggie one day- a friend had an oopsie litter when one of his piggies turned out to be pregnant when they got her. My kids are all 19 and up, but no one wanted the responsibility. I got attached so I went to Google to learn. I found Saskia and Scotty, who trained me step by step! I got a baby boy as his friend and made them a 2x6 DIY C&C cage. I’m so thankful they have gotten along and have done well this past year! This channel is amazing!
