Drone and handheld video of post flood damage. Drone footage of Train derailment, washed out road, flooded town. Hand held video of flood debris in town, school, cars, playground.
Thank you for content. Not hearing much reporting on this
Would love to see it on the news but too much politics and Covid. 👎
Are you kidding, KIRO 7, Fox 13, KOMO 4, and KING 5 have been reporting on Sumas flood and the other floods around the region for days now.
@@123451248ify I know. It's world news!
You won't see it on national news even though it's created a state of emergency for all of northern Washington State
@@123451248ify someone who lives out of the state probably said that
worst is a flood as things turn cold, takes forever to fix things back in the frozen
This is horrible!! We're devastated in B. C. too. Prayers are with our friends in Washington state 🙏
Prayers for you in B.C.north of the boarder. 🙏 🙏
@@dennisb-trains23 thank you! It's during the hard times when borders really don't matter so much.🇨🇦🇺🇸
♥️💔🙏🏻💔♥️
We’re all in this together! We need each other to get back on our feet again-and back on our metres ;-)
Back atcha my Canadian peeps!
I'm so sorry for the communities in Washington and Canada that suffered through those storms. What you're going through is horrible. I hope someone sends aid to you like now. Like many others that see this, we'll be praying for you and for help to come.
awesome vid...i was camping up the mountain and missed being stranded by 1 hour...i have never seen this happen so quickly in my 57 years on Mother Natures Earth.i caught a lot of weird wind and extreme rain on video for 48 hours before this all began..
That was the craziest thing: how quickly the river rose and flooded over the floodplain. We’re obviously no strangers to days of rain and some river flooding. But this just seemed to exceed expectations and it came so fast!
Thank you for your coverage of this!
Thank you! Great flying over sad situation! California had 🔥, East coast and south had Ida, NM, AZ and many more, droughts, South Central Tornados, the list is long.
Now WA with heavy rain, British Columbia in Canada, neighborhood of WA, floods and heavy rain. Very high damage…
It will be interesting, which help these people will receive and when…
Yesterday Farmer, today hopeless and homeless..
I hope/wish all are safe and warm…
We had wildfires this summer too! Don’t forget that and the smoke was really bad.
We had water in the street and in our back yard but the house was okay. Donating and volunteering. Thank you all responders and especially Fred and everyone at Whatcom Search and Rescue.
Yep, this is all around my lovely town. Luckily I am on highlands, but many members of our community were not so lucky 😥
(I’m in Olympia WA) So very sorry this has happened to your beautiful community. We will make contributions towards the recovery of your town.
Question: Will Whatcom County and Washington State finally do something about the Nooksack river in Everson ? I know that climate change really feeds in to Gov. Jay Inslee's activist narrative right now but maybe he might want to consider actually being the governor of the people of Washington state and putting his temper tantrum politics aside. I realize that these are just red counties and therefore expandable to the governor but the hard truth is this has been virtually ignored since the '90 flood. There was a subsequent 11 year study after that flood that really did nothing. Maybe the state and county should step up and fix their problem.
Prayers for everyone out there!
Just imagine if all the cars were electric.
thats way bad, ive been thru some bad floods, blessings and prayers to all those effected
The cost of our ongoing mediocrity. We focus on the unessential and we don't get whats essential.
Sadly that's true. And you need help now. 😥🌷🥀
omg, i feel so sorry for the train engineers, that must have been terrifying! Imagine if your car got towed by BJ's towing and is now underwater after being taken from an expired parking spot. :( I feel soooooooooooooooo sick for those home owners who will have to recover from the flood damage. What a hellish nightmare.
This was a free standing train, it was being operated when it flooded
View at 1:34 upper right house in frame is my old childhood house for 6 years. Wow at least the water receded from it but the ducked damage yuck.
I’m so very sorry. I will pray.
The train looks like a train set that got knocked over
It's right behind a dear friend's hair salon, WOW Salon. Please pray for William and Katie and their two children.
This is truly heartbreaking - a vast devastation, and I feel for all of you affected by it. The losses must be terrible to face. Bless.
Well Northwest Washington and Southwest BC are no strangers to floods. The hilly and mountainous terrain there makes the situation even worst. In fact, much of the terrain there has been carved out by floods since ancient times. My heart goes out to the people impacted by the floods.
It's true the thing you said about "no strangers to floods." The city of Lynden is elevated and was largely undamaged. "You ain't much if you ain't Dutch" as they say. We've been doing floods a long time around here, just as we have been doing in the Netherlands, for like, FOREVER!! Everson and Sumas are in their own category.
thanks for the content. I didnt realize it was this bad. I hope the town can rebuild
I used to be a rail traffic controller. A derailed train was always our worst nightmare,
LET'S HOPE SANITY FOLLOWS THESE DISASTERS . RATIONAL MINDS & A GLIMPSE OF HONESTY . INFIGHTING & CORRUPTION WON'T BRING A BETTER WORLD .

This seems to have been recorded in 24fps and uploaded in 30fps, resulting in stuttering. Video for CZcams should be recorded in 30 or 60fps.
0:48 Crazy that little California Creek completely washed out Birch Bay Lynden Road! Loomis Trail and Bay roads are gonna be busy till that gets fixed, which is going to take a couple months by the look of it.
Didn't see this on the news . Bad bad
Looks like it's time to do some Desperately needed rezoning
I pray, God keep you all safe.
Those are good railroad bridges notice all the trees around the concrete bases
The reality of it all, to ensure this type of loss doesn't happen again, move out of the natural flood plain to higher ground, duh. Kind of like Tillamook, Oregon in which the whole town is built on a flood plain, who could have thought yearly floods would ever happen!?
Last time the water came onto my property was 2009. This time the water came up much higher but still didn't get the house.
@@dustynewman1676 Yeah I remember 2009 being bad in Ferndale by the river. Crazy that this was even worse
Where is this? So annoying when people post videos, with no information... Where is Sumas WA?
Sumas, WA
Read the heading, Patricia! Now delete your ignorant comment.
@@JasonFerguson1283 HA HA HA

@@patriciabarnes7034 Nice try. Just apologize for your rude comment. You're literally at a computer/smartphone and you can't look up Sumas WA?! Hello!?
I may have missed the explanation, but how did the train derail? Was it the water that’s caused it?
Yes. It washed out the earth supporting the tracks.
@@snapoutofit2151 thank you
Thinking about all friends in Whatcom county
Seems to be weather extremes on the west coast of North Amarica. To much rain and not enough in the summer tht caused forest fires. Do you think someone is playing with the weather? I do!!
Floods are a small price to pay to live in the glorious Evergreen State ... how else do they stay so Green?
Rain
Oh, don't worry. God working his way in to inland. no one safe from his wrath.
The same system moved over California and didn’t even rain a drop!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a Hebrew:
Leviticus 19
When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.”
Exodus 23:9
When a stranger resides with you in your land, you shall not wrong him. The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as one of your citizens; you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. (Leviticus 19:33-34)
As a Christian:
Matthew chapter 5
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy.
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.
The Apostle Peter and the Gentiles:
Acts 10
And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.
But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.
And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.
And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
They talked for a while...verses 27--33
Then Peter opened his mouth, and said,
Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons.
When the city, county, and state planners zoned this area for homes and business and the infrastructure, did they know they were zoning a flood plain for construction? Did they review the USGS report for flood potential in this area? Well of course they did! The City and County for sure knew they were zoning an active flood plain for homes and businesses. They for sure knew it was just a matter of time until the Next flood - and here it is, ANOTHER flood in the exact same area! Will we ever learn -LOL, it seems No, we have not and will not ever learn. I'll bet after the flood waters recede, they will re-build, and even build MORE new homes and businesses in this flood plain.
Birds in America won't nest below 30 feet of water in the nearest river
And there's another very large storm headed this way again. It will be another pineapple express.

Wow! So much devastation!
We need some of that rain here in California.
It’s very terrible! Are the tankers leaking? the contaminated water must be on both the Sumas / WA side of the border And on the Abbotsford BC side , that is more than a natural disaster, it’s an industrial contamination disaster-
I can’t figure out why someone in charge of that train at any level , wouldn’t have thought “ hmmm- the I-5 just had a landslide, it’s totally flooded in Sumas, roads are washed out , maybe we should just park this train in Bellingham, for a few hours “
When Exxon contaminated the AK shoreline they had to pay for cleaning up-

Why are floods happening all over the world ?
Because Flood Plains occasionally flood.

@@topshelflifestyle01 Lmao I wish I was as dumb as you. What a life that would be.
Floods are common, and happen yearly. Make sure to buy or build in an elevated lot and do not buy in a lake bed!
It totally destroyed the infrastructure. When will that get fixed? There are disasters upon disasters. These storms are just going to get worse. Just look at those other countries. That's coming here.
@@Toxicashellmonsanto except they usually happen with snowmelt. They've never had rainfall based floods like this. No trees and vegetation to take moisture so it ends up flowing down the mountain..

Oh great, another one! Uh no, it's not. You see, many of the rivers that were in the flood stage have already crested, and much of the floodwaters are receding. The weather around has calmed down. People have begun the process of cleaning up. So people did "repent!"
