- So, today we are out and about walking in the town and parish of Upton upon Severn, which is located in the Malvern Hills district in the county of Worcestershire, England. The town is 5 miles (8 km) southeast of Malvern and is situated on the west bank of the River Severn. In 2021 the town's population stood at 2,903.
The curious looking tower with the copper cupola that we see during this walk is the remains of a former church - St Peter & St Paul. The nave of the church was demolished in 1937. The design was by Sir Arthur Blomfield. The structure is known locally as the "Pepperpot".
Due to the close town's close proximity to the River Severn it is well known for serious flooding, just a matter of days after filming here river levels significantly rose, The Swan Hotel was flooded due to pump failure. Read the full article here :

The town hosts three large music festivals...the Spring Folk Festival, the Summer Jazz and a Blues Festivals.

What a beginning - beautiful early morning river-view…! My grandparents had a summer cottage on a lake. I loved to get up early with my grandfather, who would go fishing first thing in the morning, before anyone was awake. Everything, including the water, was so still and quiet and calm and peaceful. Just like my Pop.

Hi, Liz. It is really nice to hear from you. Upton is definitely worth a visit. It is quite surreal knowing that just some days later after walking along the 'Waterfront' it was underwater. It is a double edged sword because on one hand there is this beautiful location but then on the other hand it is highly prone to flooding. I do feel sorry for all affected by it and hope the buisness owner can get back up & running as soon as possible. I Hope you had a nice Easter. Many thanks. OAAW

Hello..hope you had a lovely Easter weekend. What a picture perfect walk complete with gorgeous flowers, pink clouds & blue sky. That river boat was awesome. The town is so quaint & parts of it remind me of one of my favorite places in NJ/ PA. Lambertville & New Hope, both on the Delaware River & very quaint also. That tower building/ Heritage Center was something I'd love to see inside. Thank you again for sharing such a lovely walk with us. I so look forward to them. I love how Spring is blooming there also, it is a beautiful time of year & perfect for warmer rainy walks. 🤗💕🤗

I can see why this was entitled “this is England”, as the scenery and village footage was the most quintessentially English that I have seen; I would never mistake this for any other country. It truly was beautiful, and causes one to wish that they were there! The opening shot of the early morning sun coming through the trees was stunning, and a still shot of that would be worthy of framing. However, the rest of the walk looked halfway in between sunny and cloudy- the kind of weather where you bring an umbrella but may not use it. The inn/restaurant along the river was charming, and it’s a shame that they suffered recent flood damage when the river went rogue. Any establishment in a picturesque location along water has such a mixed blessing: lovely, peaceful scenery that attracts customers, but also a danger when tides or water levels rise. I hope regular patrons will support him with extra business to help him recoup his losses. The flowers along the way were lovely; you are a bit ahead of us in the growing season (though our daffodils are going strong here in NY). I also spotted a hyacinth, my favorite spring flower! (Nothing smells better, in my opinion). That was an interesting bush structure that was shaped like an animal, and I am guessing that it was a dog? (Was I correct?). It must look neat when covered with ivy or other green growth. Nice footage, too, honoring the naval war hero from WWII. I saw it and thought that here was one of my veteran dad’s British allies during that conflict.
(I have thus far watched 27 minutes of the walk but must work today, so I will visit the rest later. More treats in store later! I hope that you had a lovely Easter!).
Hi, Janet. Thank you ever so much for your lovely comment. I must admit…I am super happy with the intro :). You were indeed correct! It is a dog. In hindsight I could of framed it up better, in fact I think I could of done better in relation to the filming within that little area. I can always spot my mistakes in post…it is a constant learning curve. I never underestimate just how important war memorials are, hence why I am always keen to include & honour them during a walk. Oh, by splitting the viewing into two parts it actually helps the channel out - doubles the views :). Enjoy your Easter Monday. All the best to you both. OAAW

Just got home and finished this nice walk while preparing supper. (If the food tastes bad, I will know it is because my brain was walking in Severn while I was cooking). : / I am glad to know that splitting the watching today helped your views; if the day is busy I do that, as I like to give the walks full attention in order to see details.
Your filming “mistakes” are never evident to viewers (or at least not to me). It’s probably similar to musicians knowing their own mistakes while the audience is oblivious.

Oh my goodness, the glistening emerald buds are appearing, how exciting. The bird chatter is heavenly. Aha! The Beer Garden has your morning toddie ready, I see. Sir🕶️ you catch some amazingly fabulous flag shots and the clanging pole works is so calming and homey. And I do appreciate the harbor tours - love boats, the barge magnificent. Lovely lovely Upton, thoroughly pleasant waterfront. Darn you're good at catching unique scenic angles and all their nuances - rusty creaky signs a'swinging, birds flighting at just the right moment (you're in league staging those right?) The farther we walk inland I become wary expecting a passel of pirates with hangovers to blow out the doors tripping in the street. Me thinks 🚶expecting same as I noticed him hiding in a wall corner secretly eyeing the terrain. How perky, and clever, bravo to the crocheter who bonnet'd the postbox....🤔, pickup at 4pm, odd, same here. Delightful walk, just full of happy. Thanks you for introducing Upton. Me likes ALOT. As you mentioned, floods are ghastly varmints. Our freshly built house went under after the small river ½mile away up-choked the 63" of rain a tropical storm politey gifted our area. So I share the emotions of Severn dwellers. Bless the lot of'em.

@@jaclynmwvasquez same as you really, today has flown by. Been busy working on a walk for release on what I was hoping to be Monday. I have spent the best part of 30 hours on it - so many license plates to blur out! Then finds out after exporting which took around 6 hours I had missed out three plates! So had to fix those then re-export, it was rendering away for a couple of hours, then in true Adobe style the program crashed so then had to start the export all over again for a third time! Bearing in mind it will take the best part of 20 hours to upload to YT. These things are sent to test us hey! Anyway, just thought I would say 👋 as I have not spoken to you for such a long time now…🤣. Signing off now as it is nearly midnight, got an early start in the morning at a place you know well 😉.

@jaclynmwvasquez ah, I see. Please, don't worry, I am definitely not quitting as long as I am physically able to I will keep making videos. Lately I have found that time has been fleeting for me, there seems to never be enough hours in the day. It is probably worth mentioning that I make a lot of extra work for myself by blurring out vehicle license plates, which on average takes about 10 times longer to edit a video compared to a basic edited video. I'm sorry if my responses have not been as detailed as they used to be but I have found that again I thwarted by time and as I am getting more and more comments as the subscriber count grows and you know me I try to respond to every single sensible comment. So L.J, please do not take it personally if my responses to you are not as long as they used to be! But please know that I thoroughly enjoy reading your comments - always have done and always will do! You already know how much I appreciate all the love and support you give me and I am eternally grateful to you for that.
