Chuck did a great job of completely changing the subject without Shannon even noticing
He’s a professional DUH 😂
I’m sure Shay clocked but why pursue it , let the conversation flow and listen. this is a podcast , not a interview if it was a interview. Then it would be 10 min long .
Everybody knew Michael Jordan didn’t want Isiah on that team.
Neither did magic or larry bird....
Thank goodness, Isaiah Thomas would have ruined the team
He wasn’t the only one, he was just the only one who was vocal about it
The crazy part is that Isaiah Thomas coach Chuck Daily was Olympic team coach and him and Jordan became close.
@@fauxbro1983you sound crazy Af magic, and Isaiah are best friends…. 🖕🏾Larry bird

What about Sharpe's constant fake laugh?

“I says” - Charles Barkley
“That’s a great question” - Charles Barkley
Isiah had beef with Bird, Magic and Jordan at that time. Jordan said, it was better camaraderie, and harmony with Isiah not being there in ‘92.
Daly was well aware of that!
Yeah I’d be pretty ticked too if the guy won the championship twice and rubbed it in my face
"do u want to go to Auburn" 😂
3:40 Shannon totally pays no respect to 90's European legends Toni Kukoc and Drazen Petrovic
@@DeepBloodedthey a reason for that
"u ain't got him Scottie" 😂
This was a GREAT conversation between two greats!
I ALWAYS tell people, the 92 Dream Team is the reason we have so many great foreign players now.
Shannon is wrong for this! Magic Johnson wrote in his book that he didn’t want Isiah. This is getting tired. Tons of players didn’t want Isaiah there. Quit trying to act like it was Jordan alone
Seems u listen with your ears closed, or maybe you're just deaf when did u hear him say it????? My God
That's all Shannon can stand on "Michael was mean to people BOO HOO".

Jordan wouldn't play with Thomas, but would play for Chuck Daly who coached those pistons teams.
Really makes you think.
Nothing to do about Nothing
@Sapp440
I think a lot had to do with the Pistons and Bulls not shaking hands when the Bulls finally beat the Pistons.
Michaels beef wasn’t with Chuck Daly. He knew Chuck would never have anything to do with such a lack of sportsmanship.
@@bdwilson32how do you know what michael.knew explain ? Where's your proof
@@bdwilson32 His disrespect came from the other teams players and not showing them their respect when they had shown their respect to the Pistons even when they got beat up in 5 and 6 games before coming back and beating them.
They need to talk about Isaiah pushing the boycotting of Jordan his rookie season from the all-star team honestly Jordan got the right to feel some way about Isaiah
Spot on. Why are these supposed experts so ignorant?
That never happened. If you watched the game you saw what happened was Jordan froze up.

Did you watch the game?
Good news, never knew that..
Chuck changed that subject real quick...
True
Because he told you straight away he never was asked but apparently Jordan didn’t want him. What do you want him to say?
So true
I still remember that Olympics opening back in '92, woke up 4 am to watch it (it was the very first year we had cable TV), when the runner bringing the olympic torch stopped and lit up an arrow, the first thing that went on my head is 'what if he misses), then the arrow launched and lit the big flame, that was the greatest moment of olympic flame lighting I've ever seen
Amazing archery!
Great conversation!
Kobe Bryant drafted by Charlotte, traded for Vlade Divac, Dirk drafted by Milwaukee, traded for Tractor Traylor. Luka Doncic drafted by Atlanta, then traded. Amazing.
To be fair to Charlotte, they needed a center and already had Eddie Jones playing Kobe’s position.
KOBE didn't want to play in Charlotte.
@@AlexiusS Kobe had no say. JERRY WEST wanted Kobe. The Lakers had no early picks...so the Lakers made the trade with the Hornets the night BEFORE the draft. And it was West and Kobe's agent (at the time) who came up with the plan to tell the other teams picking before the Hornets, that Kobe would go back to Italy if they drafted him. The Nets were the only team who were still gonna draft him, until Rick Carlisle decided to go with Kerry Kittles.
@@bluewave3417Nets passed on him for Kittles

Shay, I love the cast of characters you have on your show every week!
Great conversation 👌
And magic johnson said he didn’t want Thomas either…
Yall trying to take the blame off Jordan I see
@@viperrecords3288 There's nothing to blame Jordan for. He was right to not want Isiah on that team. The last thing our country needed was to have some punk up there on the world stage and he start actin' like a bad sport.

Amazing and entertaining interview. Enjoyed every minute of it
As the Dream Team head coach why is there no question as to why Chuck Daly never fought for Isiah to be on the team? Or did he?
That's the answer I would love to read..
He probably did but I reckon the US Olympic Committee at the time wanted to cater to Jordan.
They didn't need a head coach. Chuck knew it.
@@emperor_23897and why not cater to him? John Stockton was better anyway.

Thanks Shay Shay. Just joined the club.
Jordan didn’t want to play with Isaiah but he didn’t create the lineup. He was also not the only player who didn’t want to play with Isaiah.
David Stern built the NBA and Adam Silver is destroying it brick by brick.
Truer words were never spoken.
How is he destroying it?
Both from the tribe...imagine that
@@SH-jv5ufHe’s destroying the NBA because all he cares about is making money from tv deals players these days are making historical money but they don’t want to play , one thing goes wrong and players want to jump ship, a new super team formed every other year, players can’t even play defense anymore but offense can get away with traveling and carries jumping into defenders to draw fouls, their needs to be balance to take the league to the next level and players have way to much power right now
@@SH-jv5ufHe doesn’t actually care about basketball, it’s all business and money with him. He’s gonna make these players a lot money but he’s sacrificing the actual sport of basketball. You will only witness real basketball in the playoffs, the rest is fluff to appeal to sponsors.
You're a natural on camera, keep shining!
The fact that they bought him out to praise LeBron is bad to what ever else he speaks about. Tomorrow Biden?
The Pistons played dirty. A lot the stars of that time did not like them. There’s a difference between playing tough defense and trying to injure guys.
Jordan legitimately didn’t like Isiah as a result. Can’t blame him for not wanting to play with him. There’s consequences for everything.
But he was ok to be Coached by Chuck Daly and be teammates with Dennis Rodman and John Salley?
@@Ambienceentertain Apparently so.
Jordan didn't want him on the team but that's not why Zeke wasn't on the team. Allegedly it was because of Magic.
It was because of several of the players, many on the team respected Isaiha's game, but simply didn't like him.
@@blunt2416they needed a lethal shooter to knock down open shots and mullin was one of the best outsideshooters . They already had jordan and clyde who were both better than Wilkins.

That is crazy how he related Dirk's trade to the Currys and jokers.

Lemme get that chain ShAy Shay

Implying Stockton didn't belong is massive disrespect.
He doesn't have a ring. Thomas has 2 rings against Jordan bulls
Didn’t say he didn’t belong Isaiah was better… just like kyrie is better than every guard on the team this year
He didn't deserve to go
Not arguing who was better, but Stockton was the better fit in a team full of scorers. Of course racial thing will make this be bias. Jordan was my favorite player.
Anyway, Stockton # 1 passer , great 3 pt shooter and tios in steals.
One Dream team that had a bunch of scorers got eliminated. Look at some top scoring teams that got swept in the NBA.
And when Isiah Pistons beat the Bulls, not only were the Bulls still inexperienced, but the Pistons surrounded Isiah with more than just scorers. They had a tough defensive team, that protected Isiah Thomas, just like how the Denver Nuggets were almost built perfectly around Iverson, cause they had defense and great rebounding. Sometimes a team is one player away from a championship.
No way Jordan wins without Horace Grant, and then Dennis Rodman.
Kyrie Irving is a great scorer, but ain't winning a Championship without the right team. Lebron James, and Kevin Love were a great fit for him last time.
Teams needs more than just scorers, defense, passing and IQ is underestimated! You can score, but can you stop someone else from scoring? It takes a whole lot of more energy to do both ‼️
People read history backwards, too.
Isaiah was at the end of his career, coming off injuries.
Stockton was just starting his and consecutively was breaking PG records like every year, it was crazy.
People say "but Stockton never got any rings" -- in 1992, no one knew how his career would turn out. He was just a young promising PG who put like two 20-20 game on Magic in the playoffs.
The "controversy" is entirely invented and wasn't a controversy in the 90's when people began to retrospectively look back on both players careers.
3:29 Don't forget Oscar Schmidt from Brazil

The Dream Team didn't need Isiah Thomas
It’s still not right.
The dream team didn't need Stockton. The point is it was supposed to be the top 11 and the college player of the year. Because Zeek and Shaq should have been on the dream team
@@edwardchristian9529 You are a kid..nobody at that time said SHAQ was above LAETNER or THOMAS above STOCKTON...
@@edwardchristian9529You are either too young or misremembering.
In 1992, all-NBA 1st team was Jordan, Drexler, Malone, Mullin, Robinson. They all made the Dream Team.
Second team was Barkley, Ewing, Stockton, Pippen and Hardaway. Everyone made the team except Hardaway.
Last three spots went to Larry and Magic (the legacy spots) and Laettner (the college spot).
In case you were wondering, third team was Rodman, KJ, Mark Price, Kevin Willis and Brad Daugherty. No Zeke.
Stockton led the league in assists AND steals, and was second only to Jordan that year in VORP. But you think Zeke should have got his spot???
He was the second best pg behind magic, Isiah better than Stockton by FARRRRRRRRRRRRR
The franchise decisions portion reminds me of when the Miami Dolphins passed on Drew Bees because of a medical concern involving his shoulder. The French Quarter is eternally grateful.
On that football note and speaking of Marino, his hometown Steelers passed on him for a defensive tackle who got in a car wreck and was paralyzed after his first year.
"You want to go to Auburn"?
We're still talking about this
Like how he dodged that 😂
And Chuck never brought this up to Shaq’s face lol. Hahahaha
Moral of the story is- Don't burn bridges with those more powerful than you.
No. Moral of the story is forgiveness.
Moral of the story is don't be a dirty player and expect people to do right by you
@ryandavis8658 Isaiah Thomas has had this problem for over 20+ years. 🤔
Exactly. You can't get mad if people don't like you.
What i dont understand after all these years is that the bad boys literally changed the sport and i dont mean in a good way, and people are still confused about why their star player didnt get an invite to the dream team like the guys wanna be around him? Its the goofiest thing ever. They were good, but they played dirty. Isiah thomas is not innocent i dont know why ppl portray him like that. He was their leader. So it was always understandable for me to know why even if mike didnt play he was never going on that team.
Look, I'm 50 years old and I remember at the time when the selection went down, I always wondered why the f*** Isiah Thomas and Dominique Wilkins weren't on the team. Period. Got that off my chest.
F Micheal Jordan, bad boys for life ! Best pure point guard
Also Shaq instead of Christian Leittner
Who you gonna leave off for Thomas and Neke?
Pippen took Wilkins spot since Wilkins was injured that year
Isiah has always been a lil beeaaachhh. He’s the guy that smiles at you and then when you turn your back you realize you have a knife in your back!
An American experiencing the world for the first time :D
1:50 he’s so humble
Jordan was all in or all out, he had that power.
A more interesting question is “how come Daly coached a team with none of his players on it? “ that question as far as I know, has never been asked.
I was one of the ones that didnt understand that Monte Ellis trade lol dude was a baller!!
Denver&Jokic...6:20 Chuck: Listen I think they gonna win this thing again".
Minnesota: Hold my 2-0 that's Turrible
That Dirk story got serious mileage 😂
In Open Court, Isiah said "a'ight" as long as it was Jordan or Magic/Bird who didn't want him on the team.
"But anybody below them?"
"Scottie Pippen? Come on. You can't say nothing...Go to the park."
What is it Shannon and everybody doesn’t get about the word “team”? I would shut this conversation down within seconds with that question
What about Deltef Schrimpf
The stellar human being that is Isiah Thomas….poor guy
Hearing Charles describe how great an experience it was has to make it that much more painful for Isaiah.
Shannon already know what happened, he being petty 😂😂😂
Exactly
The pistons were cheating
The thing will Monta Ellis was he was loved in Oakland. He made them fun to watch after Baron Davis and little playoff success. It was unthinkable to trade him and hope Curry's ankles hold up since he'd been having problems since college if I recall. Even as great a shooter as Steve Nash was nobody was basing a system around 3s to the extent Curry got in Golden State. Whoever made that decision truly rolled the dice and things just happened to work out spectacularly.
Could I get some clarification on how big a window this crowd had to see the holy trinity wall past? I’m guessing about 12-15 feet.
Can imagine the nba without social media. The viewing experience had to be insane
Stockton belonged, no question! All time nba leader in both assists and steals (and by a long shot).
So the Olympic Committee made a buisness decision, and clearly it worked out.
Isiah vs Stockton is actually a good debate. Both amazing players.
It wasnt just Michael who didnt want him there
You hear Shannon throw a shot when Barkley said “they were here to see Jordan, Magic, and Bird. He made the point to say even though Bird didn’t play . Why throw that out there when everyone new he was limited, does that mean he didn’t deserve to be there like Isaiah
Isiah played in the Olympics in 96. People acting like he never got to experience it. Lol
Thomas is always playing the victim. He got what he deserved
