Welcome back Mangg! Hope you had a nice break, thanks for all the content every week
You are an amazing reader. Thank you very much Mangg!
Great haunted house story..gripping narration!!
In this tale, Lovecraft tackles the most insidious and terrible evil of all...
...the FRENCH.

I'm French-Canadian from a French ancestor (back in the 17th century) I approve this joke!👌 (No hard feeling, i love my French cousins!)

I'll never forget when I was 21, I went to barnes and noble and found one of the b&n classic hardcover books for $5 with really weird and disturbing art on the inside cover, titled "The Complete Works of H.P. Lovecraft".
I decided to buy it and began reading it that night with this very story. Roughly 15-20 minutes into reading it, and the power went out. I've never been so scared. Thus, I was a Lovecraft fan for life.
my best memory of reading hp lovecraft was when i got home and the power was out
Ironically, the 1952 edition of this book came through my job last week. It was a sight to see being that the book cover was still intact.
Aw ya, love the lovecraft ones. I know it’s long but I’m still here asking for a recording of Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath. Thanks for another great telling
Yes!
He had a great imagination and some of the most creative lore. Most agree he's the father of the cosmic-horror genre.
Got to remember he was educated very conservatively in the late 1890s and dementia killed his father when he was 3 so, most likely, also had some mental health issue who might explain the racist subtext in several stories.
(bonus fact: he wrote his first story called "The little glass bottle" around the age of 6-7 (depending you ask, it's unclear what date it was) His first published fiction "The Alchemist" was much later tho)
Edit: Oops, meant to have that as my main comment, not as a reply...
@@1983sergevhis mental health was definitely not why he was racist lmao
The fact that i only understand about 75% of the words (im no nativ english speaker) kinda ads to the horror of the incomprahencible.
Another nice one to paint cultists to xD
I'm a native English speaker and u understood about 80% so your doing pretty good lmao
I am not a english speaker and the only word that gave me trouble was queer, only after an hour of watching i went to actually look what it meant

Dreams are gonna be interesting tonight!

I’m so happy I’m not the only one who falls asleep to this man’s glorious voice
A dream with tasteful amounts of spice and seasoning coming right up!

I’m gonna jump at every creek in my room tonight
Thank you for this. The Shunned House is probably my favourite HPL story and I don’t think it gets nearly enough attention
I agree
Same!!!
I have no idea why youtube only show me you when you do hp. I love your channel. Seriously I love your channel. Back when you did mythology to scp to anything. I'm so glad to see you again. I'm sorry this channel slipped my mind. Thank you for this.
I feel like the same happened to me!
10:20 all of these descriptions lead me to believe that what they thought was ‘white fungus that appeared on rainy summer nights’ and the ‘cloudy white pattern’ aren’t fungi at all, but efflorescence, the deposits of salt after it rains.
Moisture is present to make the salt become a soluble solution.
As salts move to the material’s surface, the moisture evaporates. This makes the salts crystallize, which results in efflorescence.
This tends to occur most in humid environments, like basements or wouldn’t you know, cellars.
A lot of lovecraft's stories are strange more than they are creepy. But this one has a very definitive eerie feeling to it. It's never a grand mystery, nor was I ever horrified, but it often had me feeling... watched. And so while I think his grander works of cosmic horror are still my favorites of his, I think this one so far is the one I find the best crafted... And just to be safe, I shall now watch something cheerful for a bit before going to bed.
I will be gods eepiest soldier
Omg this is one of my favorites- the only horror story where the protagonist rightly nopes out 😂
Love all of your lovecraft videos
He enunciates so perfectly.
He had a great imagination and some of the most creative lore. Most agree he's the father of the cosmic-horror genre.

Thanks for making it in a real voice, lends more depth to it!
H.p.lovecraft was a master of his craft.
Love all of the works of H.P. Lovecraft but my favorite will always be The Mountains of Madness
I grabbed the 51 hour lovecraft collection on audible cause i havent read through his stuff since about 2003-2005. This is awesome.
Im immeasurably pleased that we get not only a new upload, but an hpl reading. Cheers!
I’m excited to start listening to this!! I listened to most of your Lovecraft videos last month, it was my first time “reading” Lovecraft and I enjoyed it a lot more than expected! Thank you for bringing it to another medium :)
just wanted to leave a comment saying you're my favorite narrator on CZcams. Familiar enough to be like someone you know, strong and entrancing rhythm. Always consistent too. Thanks for reading!
I’ve been binging these Lovecraft tales. Keep it coming! Great narration
Love the Lovecraft readings. Thank you and hope your new year is going well.
I absolutely love it whenever you do Lovecraft. Absolute treat!
Just know that we appreciate all you do for so many genres and series
Will now rest for the night.
Thanks 😁 good to have you back
Jeez dude I'm a night shifter just got off lunch and here you are to save my night
thought u meant this like u were like a nocturnal shape shifter. not sure if you arent but at least there are two different interpretations so i can sleep at night
"i can sleep at night" is so insensitive i did not mean to do that omfg
@@listerjne maybe it's all of the above. Maybe just maybe I'm of a species of shape-shifters but also work a night job and have insomnia 😁😂
@@ohmygodURMOM thats a very full plate 😭 i hope things change for u, other than just your physical form!
I love it when you do the Lovecraft stories!
Thanks for making Lovecraft so much more accessible, love the content!
And here I was wondering why you were uploading mastercuts for a month. XD
Good to have you back, hope the new year has been treating you well.
These are always so good thanks for your hardwork!!!
Was kinda hoping for 40k but audiobook by TES is always nice!
This was excellent. Thanks for the reading.
OMG thank you so much for a new Lovecraft audiobook ❤❤
Can’t believe my skateboarding cousin throckmorton also owned a horrendously haunted house!
Throck' "morton" the indescribable host of morton abode
Awww, hell yeah! Always love your Lovecraft readings.
I knew you were up to something good when you posted two combination videos in a row
This is great for my drive to work
Thank you. This was really enjoyable.
i love ur hp lovecraft readings i think ive listened to all of them
Nice! I did not even know about this short story.
This is one of my favs! Thanks for doing this one! 😁
what a great reading, thank you
Thank you for reading this book is one of my favorite stories
Always love these
Thansk for taking the time to narrate this masterpiece
Great job as always 😊
I think this is why people like me like SCPs so much. A short story about some, at first, unknowable thing that slowly the reader learns about, but never fully grasps the things place. It's better this way because then, if you know how everything truly works, there's no room for the weird and fantastical. Everything has to fit into the cannon. Where as the Lovecraft mythos is supposed to be unknowable. You can always mix in real mythology (rougarou) or make it up like the writers who expanded Lovecraft's universe. Anyways, thanks as always Exploring!
I appreciate you so much!!!! This is AMAZING!
Nice! The Lovecraft readings are always great. Can you do Polaris next? Super short story but it’s fun how the narrator goes mad by the end of it
I have read this book, it was a blast.
Great job
I absolutely love how you read Lovecraft. You do the cadence and emphasis the right way for Lovecraft. And you don't throw in any of that horrible haunted house voice that others use.
What a fantastic story, beautifully narrated, and with the most glorious artwork! Thank you SO much! I hope CZcams (or something) makes you rich beyond your wildest dreams so you can also build or buy a Shunned House!
Your love craft stuff is the best
I'm with my bro Nick, please do Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath.
We would appreciate it, but that aside, thank you for all the work you do. I for one look forward to the unwinding time, I spend listening and laying down.
Yay! I go to sleep with these videos every night!
Ive literally walked past the house that inspired this story hundreds of times and i never knew it
Just like EA poe
Im so happy to be here!!
Thank you, man, for all you do making my life more flavored. Stay safe out there, 3AM gang
Love it! Keep it up

Throckmorton is a legendary word. If we were in the david lynch dune and someone said "throckmorton" w/ a weirding module it would shatter the elden ring

That's metal as fuck
TES just uploaded, this means its way too late and I should sleep.
Awesome stuff. I've been listening from time to time for years but really digging into the back catalog lately. Have you ever thought about doing MTG lore? I feel like it would be a good fit for the channel
yet another day to bask in your voice and stories
If you're not savvy on HP Lovecraft, go read/listen to the Tomb and also, the Temple.
Gives me chills.....
A good reader is always the key to a good audiobook. No key here.
Lovecraft seemed to love arcitechture. He often describes it very detailed.
A new audiobook for me to sleep to?!?!
(9:30) Interesting to hear HPL reference toad stools and “ Indian pipe” ..or Ghost Pipe (Monotropa uniflora) . It’s a white, ( sometimes blood red or even red and white striped) hook shaped, uncommon tree parasite that pop up like mutant candy canes in the darkest forest. It has unknown psychoactive effects. Not a fungus or a photosynthesizing plant, its appearance is bizarre and rare. Quite a descriptor.
I always liked the very academic language he used in his stories. He also refers to geology a lot, primarily in at the Mountains of Madness.
That's so cool! So it's like another parasitic plant from this part of the world, Monotropa hypopitys, or Dutchman's pipe. They are a cool find when rummaging through a forest. I have found them only a couple times. I would love to see Indian pipes some time, they look way more spooky.
Time to update my list of “Unusual Things that Horrified/Disgusted Lovecraft”:

Don't forget air conditioning, ala 'Cool Air'.
More H. P. Lovecraft content 🔥❤️❤️🖤
Im listening to this now as i am trying to fall asleep at 2 am, i hope i fall asleep soon.
Don't worry. No fungus ghosts will get you. At least, I don't think they will.
@@Didymus20X6 I fell asleep too fast i have no idea what happen so I have to watch it again tonight.

He went in at the climax
Nice
Chapter one, black mold
already commented but ive gotta say you are literally the only person i wanna hear read lovecraft. youre not british which is, when reading stories so tied to new england feels wrong to me lol. you also dont over do it with the overly slow deep and edgy thing some people do with youtube horror content. your emphasis and speed and tone r perfect!
LET'S GOOOOOOO
Still the best
This is probably a setting for faith.

dear God it’s AN AUDIO BOOK 🎉🎉🎉🎉!!!
pls keep adding background music it makes it more immersive i feel
You need to check out Robert E Howards stories.
HP Lovecraft has a few very, very good stories, but Robert E Howard has stories that are more consistently good.
I have a feeling you would like "The Hills of the Dead" and "The Hoofed Thing".
Perhaps even a few _Bran Mak Morn_ tales.
Bingo! "Eldritch"
THIS is the vampires we wanted! Twilight who???
Did Lovecraft really name the inn "Golden Ball"? Laughing in Japanese
i beg u plz.. more lovecraft..
This story shares a striking similarity to It.
