Super helpful especially the “before/after” shots several times in sequence. 👏👏👏
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.
Tommy, another great video! I followed your lead on the short shifter mod which is kick ass. I've been wondering about this spacer mod. Back in my early car days, wheel spacers were frowned upon as the cheap way to add wider wheels on your hot rod. They were sold through discount houses such as Warshawski's or JC Whitney and were very crudely made. However, I see how much improvement it makes on our Cayman's and with the precision/quality level of the manufacture, I'm sold!
I’m glad this was helpful! Yes wheels spacers have come a long way. Very high quality products and they make the car look a bit more aggressive.
"Super happy with the poke" ... 3 months later ... "Fitting 18mm spacers on the rear of my Porsche Cayman S"
Haha no way. 12mm is enough.
Always great content
Thanks !
Great video tommy
Thanks !
great video love the comparison shots u did very helpfull!!!!!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Dude I was picturing a techno beat playing when you were saying before and after and bobbing my head 😄
Hahaha
Hey man! Love the video. Did you develop mud flaps? I’d be very much interested!
Noice mate, i approve yet again.
Whoooops this was a close one
Tommy, did you ever come up with mud flaps for Cayman 981? Thanks!
so interesting how a little adjustment makes such a big visual change. same for the springs
I agree !
Wow looks super good! Looks like your tires on the driver side are backwards. The water channels on the edges are pointing towards the front.
They’re not directional. Just outside versus inside
Hi, will your mud flaps fit a 987.1 cayman as well? Thanks
Dream garage that you got there ;)
"classy poke" vs. "obnoxious poke" 🤣
That’s true!! Lol
Nice look. I always ran spacers on my E46 ZHPs. I'm considering 8mm front and 12mm rear but would want PPF on the panels just behind the wheels (and maybe in front of the rears). I'm not a flapper! ;-0
I love the flappies! :)
The wheel poke does look good. Well done. Did the handling change much?
Nope. Handling is the same just looks
Any idea whether the mudflaps you’re developing will fit a 991.2 911? Can you make those? I have your X3M flaps and love them
I would have to see the 991 in person.
Great video as usual Tommy, just a question what material do you use for your mud flaps?
Just a mud flap material
@@TommyLGarage Cmon man thats like me asking, What is a car and you answering "Its a car"😆. What is it perspex, plastic?
Glad to see your improvements on the 981. You touched an interesting topic: Different wheel spacers between axles and its impact on geometry and dynamics is a question I’ve been having for quite some time and I can’t find an answer. People just throw whatever gives better stance and that’s all. Any input on why we should keep same wheel spacers size all round apart from keeping factory geometry dimensions between axles?
It just makes sense in my head. I think turn-in would be affected if wheels were spaced out differently.
@@TommyLGarage I’m with you in that. Unless you need clearance (brake calipers or suspension) I don’t see any good reason to mess with OEM specs and tolerances by going with different wheel spacer’s size. Keep up the good work on the Cayman. PS - making holes in a Porsche dashboard? You’re brave 😅
I put 15MM Ones on the back of my car and it now looks way way better now it actually matches the front now
Nice !!
Should have switched to studs in the process! Why no anti-sieze between the spacer and hub?
Also, congrats on landing that big sponsor!
There was actually anti seize on it already so no need
Whoa! That torque wrench doubled in price since I last ordered it. I got it back in 2018 for $33.
Wow insane. Must be my marketing! Lol
what next? One of those grounding strips? Or neon lights under the car? Some nice stickers?
I’m thinking a NOS decal
Ik spacers makes the wheel heavier but do you notice any difference on track?
Nope. Zero.
spacers is #1 thing i do to the cars :) And thinking to get 20mm for my wifes Audi Sq5 :) looking good! Tommy!
Might as well lower the sq5 :)
Do I need to get a wheel alignment with this spacer add?
No alignment needed
Did you make the mud flaps for the cayman?
I do email me!
“What, could......!” Do you have any concerns about accelerating wheel bearing wear? Oh and I’m interested in the flaps too....
That's your worry bearings. You don't deserve a nice car
Right 🧠
nope. If they fail they fail - i'll replace them
Good plan.👍🏻
Yes 5mm more in the front. OE dimensions don't matter after changing the front camber.
Might have to try it
Time for some tlg mudflaps 👌
On it!
👍
Thanks!
How much camber are you running?
Around 2 all around
What are the measurements of your wheels?
These are oem 20 Inch Carrera wheels
Looks good! I wonder though by adding spacers doesn’t that defeat the purpose of the negative camber that you added?
Track width and camber are independent.
True
I miss the M3 content 😢😢
Coming this weekend
