What about Hunting tartans?
Hunting tartans are a wholly different thing. They are a different tartan entirely, not just a shift in color palette.
Is bold yellow an oxymoron?
I have a MacLaren flat cap that I chose in weathered because it looks better for everyday use, in my opinion. Trews I have in ancient and kilt in modern, with accessories to match both.

I wish on the Tartan designer you can click on something next to the collar and you would have a drop down that would give you the options of their ancient weather in Muted versions.
So, in all seriousness though, when we register a Tartans and they wanna know our colors do we give them just blue and just red and just a yellow or brown and whatever, or do we give them a colorcode and a specific color name?
What I find funny is the car choice keep it up guys now my girlfriend believes me about the kilt and how comfortable I really is

In all seriousness, most Scots misunderstand what Americans (or ANY diaspora... Australians, Canadians, etc) are trying to accomplish by wearing the kilt and most Americans are bad at articulating their reasons for wearing the kilt. Americans who wear the kilt aren't "pretending to be Scottish". We're wearing them to connect with our family heritage... our own personal story if you will. Are Americans ignorant to the minutiae of the conventions and "rules" of kilt wearing when they first start? Yes. Do we get some things wrong? Absolutely. But so do most Scots the first time they put on a kilt, and they even have guidance from their friends and relatives.
Scots living in Scotland are surrounded by their heritage every day and the Scots we've spoken to about it often state that "few Scots actually know or even care about their history." As America is a melting pot / salad bowl mix of many different cultures, we like to explore and celebrate the cultures of our ancestors. Often times, that includes the food, music and clothing of those countries, be they Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Mexico or anywhere else in the world.
It's foolish to dismiss and insult those who love Scottish culture and lift it up for others to see. Instead, raise a pint with us and drink to Scotland.
I'm Scottish and I really like that Scottish-Americans are proud of their heritage. People in Scotland would be the same if we had any interesting heritage and not just 1000 years of potato farmers and fisherman 😂
