    Yes that comment about the foot peg is correct, when i rode my new one from the dealer i nearly fell over at the lights ! took my right foot off and went to put it down and it hooked up on the end of the rest just for a second but it was a heart stopper, anyway that's the only ride i did with the bike in it's standard form...Soon as i got it back most things were ripped off and changed including forward controls which stopped the foot catching the footrest thing as well as making it go and sound like it should, if you buy one of these make sure you have £3000 ready to make it yours.

    A "great beginners bike" it's not. A 125cc or similar is more like it. But I do like the ending walk-around footage - gives a good amount of various perspective input.

  • @SooHighFashion
    @SooHighFashion Před 3 lety +8

    Only been riding for 2 years now i think? Yeah lol well anyway my 1st bike was a Harley sportster iron 1200. Classic "true" Harley feel. But after a while not having a 6th gear and the vibration anything above 50mph just got soooooo old. Suspension didn't help either along with picking way too loud of an exhaust, vance & Hines big radius. They sounded amazing but after 20 mins my ears were ringing. Traded the sporty in for a 2020 softail standard and it was amazing. Got myself a bassani road rage short 2into1 stainless exhaust which screams when you twist that throttle but nice n mellow for cruising. Going the performance route on my bike, got some risers with dirt bike inspired handlebars ready to instal. Just gotta figure out the suspension upgrades and engine work.

      I just bought one of these Friday. The bike is fantastic. To be honest I was actually happy to have a quiet exhaust for once lol. Suspension is amazing. I with ya with comfort and performance now.

      I can 100% understand where you are coming from on that trade in. I did a 2021 softail standard recently and I loved the bike after being on it for about 5 minutes. Very good looking motorcycle and a smooth ride!

      @SooHighFashion Před 3 lety +2

      @@thefishingbiker4627 yeah the plan was to keep the sporty for a while but after owning it for a year I got really sick of it. Should have got the MT07 honestly, spent so much money on the bike and felt like I got ripped off honestly, the bike sucks. I'm never buying a new Harley again until they get their shit together, todays prices with yesterday's technology. Only reason i was able to trade the iron 1200 in for the standard was luck.

    • @SooHighFashion
      @SooHighFashion Před 3 lety +2

      @@drearaujoa6 Yeah the suspension over the sportster is amazing. For cruising that is, from a performance standard point its pretty ass. The mono shock is stiff, yet the front end is squishy. The brakes are absolutely terrible lol

      Something to consider. I bought my first HD a few years back. Did 12 months research and decided to look for a low mileage, original 90s EVO FXD. Strong engine....none of the issues the twin cam have...and they are affordable and will hold value unlike these later bikes. You also get the pleasure of being able to do your own maintenance.
      They are not a fast bike but that's what spirt bikes are for. I'm going to test one of these though as it's a big block for the price of a sportster

    love your reviews, just want to be blunt here.
    if you aren't a Harley driver, why review them? is the motivation to give non Harley riders an understanding of what to expect ?
    I ask because sometimes I seek the advice of experts in a bike to see if its worth it for me, but I guess if I'm only used to cruisers and I want to go for a GXS-R, I could see how someone who doesn't drive them reviewing it would help as well.

    I wish Harley Davidson would consider renaming this bike the Softail Classic rather than the absurd standard. The word standard belittles the bike. Classic be much better ie classic Harley full of shiny bits. Its basically a Street Bob without the fork boots and usb port when all said and done.
