Doodle, you are correct. The Heritage is the best choice for many riders due to its lower weight and seat height. The low seat height makes backing up the Heritage much easier than any of the touring models.

I agree. I've owned 2 Street Glides and traded in my 2017 Street Glide for my 2022 Heritage after just one test ride on it. It is lighter which makes it more maneuverable for my short legs. I've almost put the same amount of miles on it that I put on my Street Glide in 4 years. I did put a back rest and taller bars on it. I rotated the bars back so I can be more comfortable. I can sit straight up without my shoulders being forward leaning so my neck isn't in a strain. The seat is so comfortable that I wouldn't want to waste my money on any other seat that may not be as good. I did add engine guards first thing along with the heel shifter. I romp on it down the straights and take curves really well. Love this bike and probably wont have another Harley because I am 70 years old. I have a 2018 Iron 1200 Sportster and just bought a 2023 ZX4RR. I have the perfect stable now.

Before I bought my 2019 Road Glide Special, I took a trip to visit a friend in Denver and when I got there I tried to rent a Road Glide so we could ride the Rocky Mountain National Park. Eagle Rider didn't have any Road Glides available so I begrudgingly accepted a Heritage. To my surprise the Heritage was amazing!! Best bike I have ever ridden up to that point! A year later I bought my RGS because I like having the GPS and sound system built in. Once in a while I find myself on the fence between keeping the RGS or selling/trading it for a new Heritage.... Such a badass bike!

I've got a 2004 Heritage, and while being a bit heavier than the other softails of that era,it handles beautifully. A LePera "bare bones" seat takes it down to about 24 1/2" and really puts you in the bike. A big plus is when not taking a trip, strip off the bags, windshield, passenger seat and you've got a cool looking bike( try that with a Road glide)

Thank you for putting out this video. I’ve had my Heritage for over a year and I love it. I recently installed a back rest and that’s been a game changer. I’ve also installed a slightly taller windshield and barely get any buffeting. You can install bigger hard bags on the Heritage if you change the exhaust setup, but for me that will have to wait. Plus the 114 on a bike that weighs 100-200 lbs less than the other touring bikes is awesome. Even though it had the Softail Frame and not the Touring Frame I think it’s a very comfortable ride for long distances.

Great video Doodle. I recently purchased a 2023 Heritage 114. I wanted a classic retro but modern HD. I currently own (2) HD Road Glides; and I immediately noticed the difference in weight and handling when comparing them. The Heritage has become my daily driver. I'm ready to take it on a long trip.

Hey Miss Doodle. After riding several of the other Baggers I must agree that the Heritage Classic is probably the unsung hero in Harley's lineup. I have done 500 mile days on my 22 Heritage and after adding the matching tour pack I can honestly say that I can pack as much gear as I really need to take for multiple day rides. And the Beautiful part is for me at 5 ft 7 in it's a perfect bike for long or short distance rides, to and from work or just putting around town. And as someone who has multiple motorcycles I can honestly say that if I had to reduce the herd to one I would keep my heritage.

Nice review. I have a 2018 Heritage Softail Classic, 107 cubic inches, in Vivid Black. I love the bike! Being 63 years old with a service-connected disability, the bike is so light, maneuverable, nimble and comfortable. There are so many accessories that you can get for the bike. I also did a stage two upgrade, and the torque on it is unbelievable. And, if you take the windshield and the bags off, you now have a Heritage Softail Deluxe. I highly recommend the bike.

I love my 2016 Heritage! This is my second Heritage overall; I love my Amber (the color scheme is Amber Whisky)! I rode about 16K this year, and I 100% agree with you on the long haul (I have a travel bag that attaches to my sissy bar) and the ease of using daily. I have to admit, I don't get that mileage you mentioned. I get around 40 miles per gallon.

I haven't ridden Harleys since about 2004 but from about 1993 until then I owned a few myself and had easy access to many demo bike.
For European road conditions, I judged the Heritage to be the best tourer, as the bike most likely to encourage visiting and exploring wayside towns, as opposed to just blasting along motorways. So it is nice to hear that this has not changed since then.

400 miles into my '24 Heritage. It is the perfect bike for me. Most of my riding is solo commuting. In fact when I had my Sportster it was 100% an around town bike. The Heritage opens up possibilities. Now taking my wife to dinner or to get an ice cream some summer evening isn't an uncomfortable experience. Taking off for several hours at a time - sounds like fun not a test of wills. Even planning a solo road trip to another state, a 5 hour run each way that would have been "only to prove I can" on the Sportster, now sounds like a great long weekend. I've ridden the Road King, Street Glide, and Road Glides. I could see myself on a Road King, but the Heritage is the commute/tour mix tilted the right way for me - towards the majority of my riding.

I've been binging your vids in the past couple of days. I don't know how I found your vids but I'm glad I did. My favorite of your vids are your motorcycle training vids. Really inspiring also your cross-country vid. Wow, I don't like to travel unless I have something work related to do there, but your vid has got me wanting to travel just to ride a motorcycle there. I've never ridden a motorcycle unless you want to count my little Urb-e I used to use for my last mile commute to work before the Rona hit. I always thought man this must be what it feels like to ride an actual motorcycle, lol. Well in a couple of hrs. I'm buying my first ever real motorcycle. Used and not currently running but I'll have one to learn once I get it running. Then one day hopefully I'll be able to do a road trip like the ones you do. Fingers crossed. Thank you for posting your vids, they're very inspiring.

Great video and good content Doodle. Sold my '13 Road King Anniversary and '15 CVO Road Glide Ultra this past Spring. Purchased a '23 BMW R1250RT for the performance, handling, technology and touring comfort but still missed whatever it was about riding Harley's for the last 56 years. True, the Heritage doesn't sell in the same numbers as the Street Glide or Road Glide, but I wouldn't say it's unpopular. In fact I wouldn't be surprised to see its sales increase due to Harley's buyer base aging and wanting a somewhat lighter machine than their full-dress tourers.

When I bought my heritage, I test rode the lowrider ST as well. For me, the lowrider was very uncomfortable as it felt completely unnatural the way I sat on the bike. I feel completely comfortable and natural sitting on the heritage. I love the bike so far!

Solstice Greetings. My second HD is a '05 Heritage and is a great all around machine. Love the classic, nostalgic look of the older ones. The new ones just don't do them justice, in my opinion. Thanks for the review Doodle. As someone else suggested in here, go take a Triumph Bonneville / Speedmaster for a spin around the block. Enjoy your holiday season.

I'M 74 YEARS OLD. BEEN RIDING FOR 53 YEARS. JUST BOUGHT A 2023 HERITAGE, (MY 3RD HARLEY), AND IT IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BEST BIKE I HAVE EVER OWNED! IT HAS IT ALL RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX! LOOKS, COMFORT, MANEUVERABILITY, STABILITY AND POWER!! THIS BIKE PRACTICALLY TAKES CURVES AND TWISTIES ALL BY ITSELF. IT'S NOT PERFECT....BUT DAM NEAR!

I agree 100% The Heritage has always been the best bang for your buck. I really enjoy hearing a woman give her views on riding bikes and traveling on them. Keep up the great work.

I just happened to watch a review of the 2024 Heritage Softail and then saw your video. I’m looking to buy this year and have always been set on the Road King. I have to admit however, after seeing the last two videos, I’m totally sold that the Heritage is the best bike for my needs. It has the best stock suspension offered by HD, you can add on the touchscreen system and there are some other modifications on the 2024 that I like. The colors in 2024 are also so much nicer!! The classic look, low seat height, cruise, 114 M8, Brembo braking, overall weight and updated gauge cluster just has me smitten with this bike. Maybe if I started a CZcams channel I could afford my down payment!! 😂😂😂

Renting bikes is a great way to find a good fit. The Heritage was the best one I've rented and now I have one.

The ergonomics are really nice on the Heritage. My wife bought the Low Rider ST - mostly for the power and a little bit for the fast johnnie paint - and the first thing she did was put the Heritage floorboards on it. It makes the bike more comfortable. Now she needs to swap out the bars.

Hi Carolyn. As you know, I ride a 2003 Anniversary Heritage and I love it. I've had the bike for 10 years now and it seems to be getting better with age. I rode to Sturgis this year for a round trip of nearly 5000 miles and I was comfortable the whole way (except in the rain of course). AND even though I was carrying 70 pounds of luggage, I still averaged 42 miles per gallon. Yep, the best bike ever. Thanks for posting this review. Oh, since the Softail redesign, I think they should have kept the leather saddlebags like I have. They are a bit bigger.

I ride a GW F6B deluxe right now, but the Heritage Classic 114 is my next bike once I decide I am tired of moving around my current heavy beast! I also agree that the 120th anniversary edition is quite beautiful!

I shifted from a 2019 Road King to a 2021 Heritage Classic. Absolutely loved the Heritage, it did everything well, and was surprisingly nimble for a 728 lb bike. I did miss the extra weight of a touring model on long highway rides though. I'm 5'10" and a tad north of 220 lbs so the touring models seem to fit me better. Traded the Heritage in on a 2023 Street Glide last July. I'm not sure what changes Harley may have made to their touring models since I had my Road King, but this new Street Glide feels lighter and more maneuverable than the Road King did. No problem going 240 to 320 kilometers (150 to 200 miles) on the Street Glide between fuel/rest stops and not feeling beat up when I get off of it. I'm very impressed with these newer Harleys.

I rode this bike when it first came out in 2018 softails came out! I gotta say, it was absolutely a surprise and shock to my system. I've owned a few Heritage Evo models and they were death traps! But the new Heritage was lighter and actually really nimble! Did I buy one, NOPE! I got a nice 2017 Road Glide Ultra that I will never sell while I'm alive! Have fun young lady!

The best thing about the Heritage is the 114, plus, and a must for me is, you can add cruise control to it.

for looks i love the road king special. when i was looking at bikes i was surprised to see how affordable older heritages are and come highly recommended, didn't even realize it was a softail. i went with a street bob to get used to the harley type of riding, but after a few years i'm for sure considering one of these.

I have a 2020 heritage and I am the same height. I find it to be my favorite newer bike also. My favorite though is a flh shovelhead. I put my feat on the rear pegs for long rides. Really comfortable position.

Heritage was my first bike, 2017. I still have the Heritage and with the 103 motor and a stage 2 upgrade. Great bike! my only complaint about the 2017 is that it is too low to the ground so that when you do tight turns the boards scrape earlier than the Road King (which I have as well). Yep love the Heritage...

For years I let people in the community keep me away from the heritage because it was an "old man bike" and I lost a lot of time being comfortable. I also really like the triple headlight aesthetic that calls back to the elder models instead of the fashion forward models that look dated after 5 or so years. The heritage is a lot of bike for the money. Could be a 20 year bike for a lot of people dedicated to riding and looking for a keeper. Great review. Thanks for that.

I love my 2022 Heritage Classic 114 in Redline Red and Black with Cast Wheels. The Stock Seat is the most comfortable Stock Seat I've experienced. Heritage Classic Rides like a Cloud. The only initial change for riding comfort is the handlebars. I'm going with 16" Apehanger Handlebars

I remember watching a sturgis documentary from the early 2000’s before the bagger craze (pre street glide) and it seemed like from the footage, just about every body was rolling in on heritage classics mostly with the occasional orange county styled chopper. Its just practical and looks cool imo.

Had a 20 heritage, couldn’t take the buffeting from the windscreen, went to the street glide, no buffeting, at 5’4” and 140 lbs, I don’t have any trouble with the extra heft or height, nice video.
